One public campaign that I believe is effective is the annual Flu vaccination, especially in elderly people. Every year many elderly people died because they get sick with the Flu. The government in conjunction with many pharmacies have TV and radio campaigns encouraging not only the elderly but everyone else to get a Flu shot. Another campaign is the “click it or ticket”, although indirect relate with public health, the end result can be that in an accident the victim will end up in a hospital, when he or she did not wear a seatbelt.
Dana Maliepaard was a young girl who went to Glasgow High School and was involved in an unrestrained car accident. Dana’s mother, Christie Maliepaard, believes that it is necessary to share Dana’s story with others so that they may learn from it. Dana’s story is used to show teen drivers that it is not only expected, but necessary to wear a seat belt. By wearing a seat belt when driving a car or riding in one, you are able to not only save your own life, but the ones of the people who care about you.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “in 2015, seat belt use in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 13,941 lives” (1). The NHTSA goes on to say that almost 30 million Americans still don’t use seat belts on a daily basis. Since vehicle accidents are among the leading causes of death in the United States and even the world, the argument to improve seat belt technology has increased dramatically. Researchers are often more concerned with whether or not people are wearing their seat belts, not the effectiveness of them, until now, although both are incredibly important. Seat belt safety, which is directly related to seat belt technology, has been shown to be increasingly ineffective because of the high severity
The flu is an illness that normally occurs in fall or winter season. Our approach to this project is to purchase all of our supplies and equipment in a timely manner. In order to meet our deliverables, we have chosen a few vendors throughout Colorado that have a great reputation of providing excellent service to many of their customer. The most important vendor to the Flu Shot Administration project is the purchasing of medical supplies and equipment. We plan to purchase majority of our medical supplies from McKesson Corporation. We thought it would be best to contract with McKesson Corporation because they are located in Colorado. Their close proximity helps to lower transportation risks. They are well known throughout the health care industry
I can easily say that I agree with this article and that I am 100% pro flu shot. With my history as a pharmacy technician I did find myself being able to successfuly convincing some of our patients to receive their flu shots during their visits to the pharmacy. Through working their I learned a lot about how the influenza virus can impact our well being. I did find it suprising that the University of Chicago was able to accuratley predict the flu seasons for the past 15 years and never thought about looking into Australia's flu season and using data collected from them to help prepare for the US's flu season. According to our text book, An Invitation to Health, "Influenza viruses, which can change their outer protein coats so dramatically that
I think you brought a good point that relates to some of the price marketing strategies some health care organization use when it comes to the different in price for same service. The price for a flu shot that you mention is a really good example of this type of marketing. Using my mother as an example, I know the place she gets her flu shot is a pharmacy that some time even offers free flu shots. However, this pharmacy is not where she regularly gets her prescription filled, she only goes to this particular pharmacy when she needs the flu shot, but also picks up her prescription there that time since she is already at the pharmacy. Now the pharmacy provides a free flu shot but made hundreds of dollars on my mom’s prescription which if it was
Thank you for your response. Whenever a crisis hits an organization, not even the best business insurance can fully compensate for the loss. So after the horrific events of 911, human resource and risk management departments (Washington DC adjacent companies) acknowledged the need for continuity /disaster recovery plans. In many cases, insurance carriers required a written continuity /disaster recovery plan on file for continued coverage.
Federal regulations would remain as they are, distribution would continue to be handled by the private sector, and people would have to get vaccinated using the current means available to them
Referring to question 2, it is unfortunate that the son of the elderly client were non-compliant in taking the flu shot despite teaching. However, people sometime are negative or dismiss information that has been given to them, because of barriers. Barriers such as reading and writing can be a major obstacle in teaching a person who cannot read or write. Therefore, it is important as nurses not only to assess the health status of an individual; we should also assess their knowledge and understanding to know how much they know about the diseases/treatment. Beagley (2011), believes that “assessing and evaluating the learning needs of the patient are essential before planning and implementation of an educational plan” (p. 331). The US department

When people see or hear advertisements, whether it be in a magazine or on television, many do not stop to consider or analyze the techniques that go into making the advertisement effective. For instance, the Center for Disease Control has a campaign that has the purpose of promoting the influenza vaccination. If you examine the campaign closely, it becomes clear that the advertising campaign targets a diverse audience of all ages, genders, and races who could all benefit from getting an influenza vaccination. In this advertisement campaign, the Center for Disease Control effectively promotes the benefits of getting an influenza vaccination to a targeted audience using numerous persuasive techniques such as association and universal appeal.
An enormous division currently exists between the people who believe that automobile safety should be an option and those that feel it must be a requirement. The federal government feels the morally obligated to create the safest driving environment possible. On the other end of the spectrum, opinions exist that the average driver has ability to make the choice of safety on their own. Editorials, political assemblies, debates, and conversations have arrived on the concept of click it or ticket. This idea refers to ticketing any motor vehicle driver and passenger that is not fastened by a seat belt. Arguments have been made for both sides, and have been reviewed in multiple states.
Historically, people have been required to receive vaccinations on a mandatory basis specifically for attending school. The Constitution states that people have the right to refuse medical treatment. However, under the 10th Amendment, each state has a right to mandate protocols such as immunization for public safety (Rosenbaum, 2010).
Noreen and Janevic (2013) believe that the success of patients’ preventive and curative interventions depends on the individual’s willingness to take responsibility for and maintain the necessary behaviors. Sadly, studies have shown that there is poor adherence to recommended changes in lifestyle and behaviors including attending scheduled appointments for treatments (which are missed 35% of the time) and compliance prescribed medication. Due to the evidence of subpar participation in preventive care such as screening and immunization efforts, behavioral scientist have dedicated more research to studying and identifying what determines individual’s health behaviors. This is how individual theories of health behavioral change were developed.
Considerable and reasonable. Do evaluate the business requirements of the policy. Whether it is necessary to allow workers are less likely to be due to the flu vacation, employers must be ready to identify a reasonable business policy interest in this case, the challenged patients, clients, or customers or concerned about. In addition to this, do consider the type of policy that suits the business needs. Some employers to all employees receive a flu shot can implement the required policies. Others are asking people to receive specific categories of staff to patients or individuals with access to the regular flu vaccine, i.e., compromised immune systems. No one else can implement the strongly recommended the flu vaccination policy. Moreover,
