Hello, I am Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Lisjaneidys Colon. As the highest ranking noncommissioned officer I am the mentor of the unit or as some call it the “big sister” to all cadets. This is my fourth year in JROTC. I spent my first year in the army unit at East High School and transferred to Service High School my sophomore year. My future goal is to help people by joining the medical field. I also strive to be completely fluent in four languages. I love jokes, music, and Target runs. Lastly, I will give my best effort to improve the unit as much as possible.

In regards to school, most students loath just about every aspect of it. Five brutal days of tests, mind numbing lectures, and bounteous amounts of homework that they must turn in the next day, is very overwhelming to most. By the time the fifth day rolls around, some students are so fatigued that they cannot focus on the various tasks at hand. The solution-a four day week. A shortened week could help to improve overall productivity of students and save the school money. Plus the additional day off could be used to ease the minds of frazzled students.

After this semester I will be graduating with honors from La Crescent High School, and I am seeking to apply to the four-year school scholarship to help me continue my academic studies at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. After reviewing the scholarship requirements, as well as getting to know your organization as a whole, I am pleased to present to you why I am the most qualified candidate for this gracious award. My first day of senior year had been just like every other year, except my schedule was very basic. The goals I had in mind were mainly outside of my time in school. I had been taking college courses online to better prepare myself for college and to eliminate costs in classes, so I had to make sure I passed all of them. Nine months is all it takes to create every single human living on this planet . Nine months and in that time you turn from something as small as a seed to a newborn baby . During this whole cycle and amazing journey we are all made to be unique and different from everybody else . There is only one you in this planet which has characteristics that make you who you are. Some of these characteristics happen in the womb which can affect your whole life. Situs inverses , Ectodermal dysplasia, and Sonic hedgehog are just a few examples of genetic conditions that have a complete impact on one's life.

Long term target- Their Long term target should be increased rapidly within 5-10 years. The number of students should be 500-1000 and staff members should be 25-50 with the turnover of 8-15 million.

When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationship or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

I have learned a few things about planning from reading the case study on General Motors. The first thing I learned was that SMART goals are actually very common and once I knew what they were I can see how almost all businesses use them. Seeing them put to use in this case study was very helpful and practical. Goals that may seem unattainable at first can be very attainable as you set out further goals and use the planning/control cycle to tweak your initial plan.
