Is family always the cause of issues? Does the audience know how much our family reflects on our opinions? Everything that anyone does reflects on us, depending on our gender, age group, family, or ethnic background. If you think that families are hard on each other then think of Romeo and Juliet’s families, including Capulet, Lady Capulet, Tybalt, Nurse, Montague, and Lady Montague, and how they played the ultimate role in Romeo and Juliet's deaths.
The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare shows how Romeo and Juliet meet. The play takes place in Verona, Italy. The Montagues and Capulets have ongoing feuds with each other. Romeo Montague meets Juliet Capulet at one of her family’s parties, instantly fall in love, and decide to secretly get married the the day after the party. Throughout the play, both Romeo and Juliet show character traits they have which leads to a tragic ending.
They were not one to start a fight calculatingly unlike their opposing enemies; the Capulets, who they loathed more than death itself. Wherever a potential fight was building up, the Capulets couldn't resist the urge in
Romeo and Juliet first met each other at a party at the Capulets house. They fall in love with each other at the first sight without knowing that they are from families who hate each other, and when they do learn about it, it is too late. Juliet realizes that it was a mistake to fall in love with Romeo, because he is one of the people she should watch out for. He is her first and only love, but he is an enemy of her family. Lucky for Romeo, Juliet is smart, and such dumb thing as hate between their parents wouldn't stop her from loving Romeo and getting married with him. She is sorry that their families are enemies, though, because everything would be much easier if they weren't. So this is the first time when the hate between Capulets and Montagues becomes problem to Romeo and Juliets happiness. Only after their children die, the Montagues and Capulets come to their senses. The Prince accuses them of killing Romeo and Juliet. The Prince makes them see how wrong they were all the time, that all because of their hate, because they couldn't let their children love each other, Romeo and Juliet died. After that, Capulets and Montagues decide to call it quits. No more fighting, and Montague even says that he will make a gold statue of Juliet, but what is that going to do? It is too late, nothing will bring them back. It is totally Capulets' and Montagues' fault that Romeo and Juliet died. If they didn't hate each other so much,
William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet is a traumatic love story between young adults Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet come from different families who have been feuding for years, the Capulets and the Montagues. Abandoning the indifferences between their families they go against it all, fall in love, and marry in secret. Little do they know their love story will result in a tragic ending, death. William Shakespeare writes this play set in Verona, Italy and to him this place is thought of as a timeless fantasy land. Even though Shakespeare sets the play in Verona the characters do not act the way people from there acted and their beliefs and customs were not the same. The way the families act and treat others in based more on
In Romeo and Juliet hate s a big component of the play. This hatred is used in the many fights that end up with someone being killed. “To strike him dead I hold not a sin.” In this quote Tybalt is wanting to kill Romeo because he is a Montague and Tybalt is a Capulet. This means that there is a lot of conflict. “ ’Tis he that villain Romeo.” Tybalt calls Romeo a villain because of the conflict between the two parties. Hatred is a very big part of the story of Romeo and Juliet. Hatred is a big part of Romeo and Juliet being
Romeo’s hate towards Tybalt for killing Mercutio leads him to make irrational decisions. He is so blinded by hate, that he kills Tybalt. Up until Mercutio’s murder, Romeo loves Tybalt for his relation to Juliet. This can be seen when Romeo says “ but love thee better than thou canst devise till thou shalt know the reason of my love;”(3.1.65-66). The murder of Tybalt prompts Prince Escalus to sentence Romeo with banishment to Mantua where he learns of the so-called “death” of his Juliet. This news urges Romeo to visit the nearest chemist to ask for a vial of poison that will “disperse itself through all the veins”(5.1.65). The hasty decision to use this poison as a means of death stems from the unknown hate between the two families as well as the death of Mercutio and Juliet. Juliet had no other option than to turn to the sleeping poison, for fear that if she didn’t take the potion, she would have to marry Count Paris. Lord Capulet threatened to disown Juliet if she refused to marry Count Paris, as her parents had wished. Romeo and Juliet’s hate for the feud between their families is what prompts them to end their
The feud between the two families is a reason that they are responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The Capulet’s hate the Montague’s so much that Juliet could not tell them that she loves Romeo. Document A states, “From ancient grudge break to new mutiny” (Document A). Meaning that the two
The Capulets and The Montages are bitter rivals. “Tybalt, here slain, whom Romeo's hand did slay” The Capulets and Montagues are bitter rivals because they got in a fight on the street and people got killed. When people are rivals they hate each other with a passion and hate everyone in their family. When people get married their families get along very well and like each other and when they do it usually has a healthier relationship between them.
Then, other conflicts are thrown at Romeo and Juliet, such as Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Paris and Romeo being exiled, which eventually leads to the death of Romeo and Juliet. The city of Mantua is where Romeo goes when he is exiled from Verona, and Verona is the main setting of Romeo and Juliet. Point of View: Romeo and Juliet is written in third person and first person point of view. The prologue is first person, while the remainder of the play is third person point of view. Atmosphere:
This is evident because the young couple love each other, but they cannot express this publicly. The reason for this is that both the Montagues and Capulets are blinded by their pride and reputation, their of family honor, that they are willing to overlook their children’s happiness. Because of this the children are conflicted with decision to choose their family or each other. Although the couple agrees to marry each other which shows the romantic love for each other; they marry each other in secret, “...when it is dark,” (II, vi, 76), so they do not damage the reputation of the families. Had the hatred been non-existent the couple would have proceeded to marry peacefully, and be saved from their deaths.
To what extent might a conflict affect a family? A conflict could majorly affect a family, but it also depend on how big and serious the conflict is. If it’s a big family feud then it could affect everybody in the family. In the play Romeo and Juliet the two main families the Montagues and Capulets are in a big feud and nobody knows why they are in a feud, but they can’t even be in the same room as each other. The everybody is affected in the families because of the conflict Conflict can affect a family is various ways.
When people hear of Romeo and Juliet they think about a tragic love story of two young people who died because they could not bear being without one another, but how did that tragedy come about? Romeo and Juliet meet at a party one night and immediately fall in love. They soon find out they are from families that greatly despise one another and know that they should not be together but they are already too far fallen for each other. Romeo is soon exiled and so they decide to run away together because Juliet does not want to be without him and that plan ends up going downhill. Romeo and Juliet's parents were bad influences on their kids because of their refusal to end a long lasting feud, teaching hate towards the opposing family and pushing their kids to do things against their will.
