In cheerleading my team has this chant we say before we take the blue mat to compete “This is the power, not to be scared.” Being a cheerleader takes courage, patience, and dedication. Being a cheerleader also means failure is part of every practice, whether it be a stunt or tumbling, something is bound to happen. Failures can be funny, while some can be sad. Some failures are messy, while some lead to a clear cut path. To me, failure is only a temporary setback in a major plan, simply put, failure is the key to success. Two years ago I had a dream to be on level five, which is the level that everyone pays attention to in the cheer world. To get on my dream team I had to do a full twisting layout in the air. It took me 3 months to get this
Cheerleading has also taught me never to give up. When I first joined rocket cheer in we were placing 10th at competitions. 10 years later down the road of hard work and determination we are placing top 3 every competition. So many people have wanted to give up but I've learned if you just give up on a goal or a dream then it will never be reached. So what if you have to work a little bit harder? The outcome is only better. I was proud to be a part of Rocket cheer when we were getting the tenth place and I'm proud to be a part of it when we get first. The journey only made me
The question about payment to college athletes is consistently raised in discussions because the decision is extremely controversial. It is important to mention that there are both pros and cons on this matter. Payment to college athletes can be perceived as a positive opportunity or negative drawback of involvement in professional sports that distracts them from learning. Young people should be able to develop their individuality, socialize and learn instead of being focused on the job before getting a diploma. In fact, the vast share of research sustains the idea. A payment to young athletes for their sports achievement should be perceived as an issue because they are not yet responsible for spending wisely, they get distracted from academics and could start living a frivolous life that would deteriorate not only their professionalism but also damage the future.
At the Washington DC bureau of a national network news division, Jane Craig is a news producer who knows that she is always right. Beneath her veneer of self-assuredness, Jane is a bundle of neuroses also knowing that she has troubles convincing people that she is right, those neuroses manifesting themselves in crying to release emotions when she thinks other people are not looking. Aaron Altman is a news reporter, brilliant in his understanding of the stories he covers, but who is generally under-appreciated as the geek. Jane and Aaron are best friends and regularly work together on news pieces. While Jane respects Aaron professionally, Aaron in turn is secretly in love with Jane.
Unlike football players we go out onto to the mat without any padding or protection. Football players use shoulders pads, knee pads, helmets, and much more safety equipment. Every time a cheerleader goes out to perform their mind is not only focused on hitting the routine but, also wondering what might happen to them. They know that within the next 2 minutes and 30 seconds they can walk off the mat with a smile on their face or with an injury. Football players do also get hurt but, when they do, they have protection, unlike cheerleaders. The National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research at the University of North Carolina reports that 65.2% of all catastrophic injuries in youth sports occur in competitive cheerleading. Football players lift a 15 ounce ball, whereas we cheerleaders lift human beings. We throw, catch, and lift mortals. Not only do we work just as hard or even more than football players but, we also aim for the same objective. In all sports, you clearly want to win. Winning makes everyone feel confident and makes them work harder to accomplish this. Not only does cheerleading require physical skill and talent but, it also requires dedication and
Competitions consist of solely teamwork and perfection. On the cheer team, there could be one person better than the rest, but they, themselves cannot carry the whole team. They must work together in sync. Coupled with the fact that teams that compete at cheerleading competitions are judged based on their ability to stunt and tumble as a team. High marks in these categories, along with a “dance” will result in a higher placement than the other teams.
The strength in us comes from not only our exercise but also our commitment to cheer.” This means cheerleaders through pain and suffering to get what they want. Therefore, cheerleaders go through vigorous

Failure is all around us, but so is success. Both result from one thing, setting goals. I set goals to achieve a sense of accomplishment when they are completed. From doing my homework every night to getting 100 percent on a test, goals help me focus my time on the activities that I must accomplish. Taking responsibility for your own failures is difficult. My failure makes me wonder what could I have done differently. I was forced to ask myself that question after Cross Country Districts Junior year.
“Keep your head high, your bow higher and your confidence at the highest.” Cheer is a big part of who I am it taught me how to be loud when rooting for my team, helped me build my confidence and also to get back up when I fall down. Pop Warner was the first group I was in for cheer and the first group I got to do competition with. The practices were also outside with no mats. It was the first time I started to learn how to jump, stunt and make cheers. Getting high and level jumps are a struggle since day one. Each day you want to improve but you have to work hard. Stunting is a lot of fun except when you get dropped. You have to be super careful or you will hurt yourself or others. I learned to get back up again when I fall. Cheers are everything, they help you cheer on your team and you can show off a bit. When we got our first uniforms and I was as happy as can be. The uniforms and bows make you feel like a real cheerleader. They mean a lot, especially your first one. It was a great time to make friends and great bonds. My first friendships started there, right on the grassy cheer and football field. You grow up with these people for years and get to know them and create special
“On a team, children learn to embrace their unique abilities among other children” (Merkel). If a child were to lack ability in one position, there are several other positions for them to try until the child finds their talent. A cheerleading squad cannot function without the ability of all members. This aspect of cheerleading gives a sense of purpose within their team and makes every child feel empowered and important. Furthermore, cheerleading does not require a certain body type, rather it allows individuals to develop a physically appealing body through strenuous exercise.
Cheerleading, often underestimated in its complexity and significance, has been a cornerstone of my personal development journey. Through the exhilarating routines, the closeness of teammates, and the challenges of leadership, my experiences in cheerleading and stunting have shaped me into the individual I am today, fostering not only physical skills but also invaluable life skills and academic achievements. From my earliest days on my cheerleading team, I discovered the importance of perseverance and discipline. Mastering intricate stunts and synchronized routines requires rigorous training and unwavering commitment. Through countless hours of practice, I learned the power of dedication, pushing through setbacks, and striving for excellence.
I have found plenty of evidence to claim as an argument of why cheerleading is a great source of exercise and how this sport can advance your body as well as to keep you healthy and in shape. The takeaway message from this research would be to take any type of activity sport to the maximum level of seriousness, because you can get hurt in anything you do, whether it be workouts, physical activity or even a slight jog. Great athletes frame the activity/sport of cheerleading seem simple, but performing the sport correctly demands physical power that constructs muscles not just in one part of the body, but the whole body. Definite locations on the cheerleading team including backspot and bases, must be adequate to raise and brace the lower part of the stunt or leveled stunts. Conducting these intense stunts requires unbelievable power, focus, and stability to undergo the mass of the other partners to guarantee their protection. Cheerleaders have to show leadership not just on the mat but off of the mat as well. Cheerleaders offer guidance to assist teammates to upgrade their abilities, bring a favorable attitude each and every time to their lifestyle, and be willing to try new obstacles and over all becoming better people for
From an outsiders perspective one may see brainless and beautiful robots, which scream and perform neat tricks. This is not the case from the inside; cheerleading is so much more than that. Many people are under the impression that cheerleading is not a sport. I am the voice of reasoning that will let you in, and I will show you that cheerleading, in fact, is a sport. Cheerleading requires much physical demand from the body just as any other sport would. Cheerleading, in general, is a team effort. There are many sides to cheerleading, which make it a versatile sport. When it comes to cheerleading there’s more to it than what meets the eye.
As the book states the artist, Lady Gaga, does have a distinct personality that makes her who she is. That is the same for all individuals, each person has a distinct personality that differentiates themselves from others. However I do disagree with the book that personality isn’t, at least for myself, consistent in different setting, how I behave in one setting isn’t how I’m going to behave in another setting. The textbook defines personality as an individual’s characteristic style of behaving, thinking and feeling.
Cheerleading is a very dangerous sport. If the body is not well-conditioned, the athlete can severely injure themselves. Cheerleaders represent the teams they cheer for, which in most cases are football and basketball. Cheerleaders are not just about being “beautiful” or “popular,” but are more often known for being role models. With concussions being extremely high risk in cheerleading, it’s important for cheerleaders to be dedicated, and have proper strength and knowledge to make them successful in cheerleading.
