In this song, Drake responds to Jay Z’s comments on him that he is not good enough to compare with Jay Z. Instead of directly answering the questions, Drake says that there is no way to compare us now because he is only 29 and much younger than Jay Z, so only time can tell the answer. It sounds like that Drake wants to shake hand with Jay Z and wait together for him to reach Jay Z’s age today, then he will accept the result no matter what happens. Thus, it shows Drake’s sportsmanship of respecting to the opponent and the final
He quotes, “We all got dreams and we all start reaching” (L. 24), expressing dreams becoming reality. Lights are spotlighted fame, while the money being thrown is income. Drake quotes “Housekeeping knocking to see if all ya”ll decent” (L. 25), suggesting party lifestyles. Being intoxicated, while not remembering who the partner was the night prior. It's hard to leave a surreal occupation with difficulties, which is expressed in “Houstatlantavegas”.
He then so confidently raps how as long as Jay is a billionaire he'd never go broke. Kanye always speaks of Jay with such high praise, as Jay returns it from a distance. Kanye has always been the person to wear his emotions on his sleeves, as we've seen with George Bush and Taylor Swift. Jay moves like the coolest guy on the planet as everything seems calculated and premeditated. He was involved in a UFC fight in a elevator, and walked out like nothing happened.
To their surprise, Drake won't budge. I personal like this song, because most people in the world will look you right in your face and smile but inside they're the people who don't want you to succeed in life. Then we've the people that will tell you, you'll never be nobody. But you as a person you can't let people stop you from succeeding in life, and once you've met your goal, you've to prove them wrong that tried to bring you down, and didn't believe in you that you're somebody, and you can do anything that you set your mind to do. Nobody can stop you from doing what you want to do. This song is basically proving people wrong and that's why I personally like this
re-energized the beef between Drake and Mill. Now, fans are awaiting Mill's response. In the meantime, those on social media are tweeting, retweeting, and posting photos of Drake's performance. Rapper 50 Cent couldn't resist commenting on Drake's attack on Mill at OVO Fest. "All he did was put up the memes, trust me he got something just waiting. That Back to Back was just a verse. Meek gotta go hard or go home first class. Drop something tonight f**k that," 50 Cent wrote on
What is victory? What is failure? How do we know what state we’re truly in? In “Locker Room Talk” Stephen Dunn explores the conception of men boasting about their sexual encounters alongside women and persuades the audience boastful men who are presenting their victory of not yielding to the attractiveness and capability of women by not falling in love have actually failed through rhetorical strategies such as purpose, audience, and genre; pathos, logos, and ethos; and angle of vision. Dunn supports his stance on the journal by providing evidence and examples that emphasize the fear of falling in love to the general audience. Moreover, Dunn persuades the general audience through a reasonable, emotional, and credible approach on why men boast about their sexual encounters alongside women such as “Frankie made it sound dirty, something great you do with a bad girl” (Dunn, Locker Room Talk) and “A young man was telling his friend what he did to this particular young woman the night before, and what she did to him” (Dunn, Locker Room Talk). From Dunn’s angle of vision, even though boastful men feel victorious in their effort to not fall in love Dunn experiences sympathy for their actions as portrayed at the end of the passage “He thought we’d be happy for him” (Dunn, Locker Room Talk).
In addition, Kendrick uses a metaphor in line 20 saying “Certified Lover Boy”. Certified Pedophile. In this line, he is again talking about all of the allegations, and evidence built up against Drake talking to minors.
He never really had serious relationships. He even says he doesn’t believe he’s ever been in love. This is what he said to say "I had lunch the other day with someone I extremely look up to. I had lunch with Will Smith, and listening to him talk, it made me think I don't know what love is,” Drake told the mag. “He said something profound. He said love is when you become one and you need that person. It's not about wanting anymore, you need that person. Hearing that,
The Drake/Meek Mill beef has gone from the tweets to the beats. In response to Meek Mill’s recent Twitter attacks on Drake and his lyrical authenticity, Drake retaliated with not one, but two diss tracks within the past week. Both tracks, titled “Charged Up” and “Back to Back”, defend against Meek’s claim that the Toronto-born rapper recruited Atlanta rapper, Quentin Miller, to ghost write Drake’s lyrics for Meek’s single, R.I.C.O. (feat. Drake). The back-to-back tracks were, indeed, charged, as Drake went in on Meek, calling the 28-year-old rapper a charity case and even suggesting that he plays the wifey in his relationship to Young Money label-mate, Nicki Minaj. After Drizzy metaphorically dropped the mic, Meek finally picked it up and came back with a diss track of his own titled “Wanna Know”, first heard Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex's show last Thursday.
Another figure that appears on this music video is the country singer Taylor Swift, who was the eye of controversy when Kanye West interrupted her after she won best female video award (MTV 2009). First question that needs to be asked after Kanye crashed the stage of the awards is WHY?. What made him feel that way, in which he takes those minutes of fame away from younger Taylor Swift. We could think all he wants is attention but it is more than that. Mr. West feels that he has the right to tell others what is good and bad since he “clearly” know the answers.
Everyday today's youth are asked what they want to be when they grow up. Some say teachers, firemen, police officers and a large response to that question is a professional athlete. Something that all these professions have in common is that they are all role models to children. Firemen, teachers, police officers have an easy job at doing this; they are after all the people that save children, teach children and protect children. But professional athletes on the other hand have a difficult task assigned to them when it comes to being role models. Professional athletes are not given an option as to be a role model or not. Just because they have a special gift does not make them have
It has been less than a year since my last suicide attempt. Applying to the Drake Davis Scholarship is important to me because of how suicide has affected my life. I am determined to use the money I earn from this scholarship and others to receive an education that will enable me to spread suicide awareness. In the future I plan to become a high school teacher or a professor. It is in high school and college that most young adults experience depression. As a mentor figure I will work to identify students at risk of depression and suicide, and work with them to find help, as well as educate all students about mental health disorders.
(Drake lines 27-28) Through this quote he uses a phrase that contradicts its self, by saying he is on flights overseas but still cannot get across to her which gives the meaning of him trying to talk to her but he still cannot get through to her. The Paradox allows the listener to realize how difficult it is for Drake to get across to Rhianna. He continues to try and reach her but it seems as if it were impossible for him.
In a culture where sportsmanship is lacking, it is critical that stakeholders in high school athletics work together to reestablish sportsmanship and ethics to the forefront of education-based athletics. In fact, “ The National Federation, the governing body for public high school sports, would like for the number one priority of high school athletics to be GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP” (as cited in Churdar, 2015, p. 2). Sportsmanship means respecting the opponent, the officials, and the game. There are many people and groups who influence the actions and beliefs of athletes either in a positive or negative manner, so it is important that these groups maintain a high view of sportsmanship and take proactive measures to ensure that good sportsmanship is a priority for high school sports.
"One who plays a sport fairly and loses gracefully" is how The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines sportsmanship, but what is true Sportsmanship considered to you? Is it an attitude, or simply an act? Within Hollywood’s movies depiction of drug addiction, many have failed to represent all true aspects that come along with such lifestyles. The movie, The Basketball Diaries, is based off a novel Jim Carroll wrote from his own diary entries. As a teenager growing up in the sixties, Carroll reveals his progression of drug abuse which eventually leads him addicted to heroin.Heroin is a white powder derived from morphine found in opium. It is commonly prescribed as a painkiller, but is also a popular street drug. The director casted Leonardo DiCaprio as Jimmy, and concentrates on creating the character as a stereotypical drug abuser. DiCaprio’s most captivating scene is when he is going through heroin
