Teens and Young adults seem to frequently listen to music throughout the day. If it is not in the car while driving, it is while walking to class or just simply while doing homework. However, how many adolescents really pay attention to the meaning of the song or the poetic devices that are used throughout the song? Drake’s song featuring Rhianna, Too Good, implies a message of love and explains how he tries his hardest to talk to Rhianna but she has seemed to have discovered herself without discovering their relationship; while they are conversing they are not understanding each other; throughout the song we see a pattern of similes, paradoxes, and imagery. In this song Drake uses the literary device simile. According …show more content…
A paradox is “a statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth.” (Dictionary.com) Throughout this song we see many examples of Paradoxes. He continually contradicts what he is saying. In the song he states “Got me on flights overseas, and I still can't get across to you.” (Drake lines 27-28) Through this quote he uses a phrase that contradicts its self, by saying he is on flights overseas but still cannot get across to her which gives the meaning of him trying to talk to her but he still cannot get through to her. The Paradox allows the listener to realize how difficult it is for Drake to get across to Rhianna. He continues to try and reach her but it seems as if it were impossible for him. This is another one of the problems that he is facing with Rhianna and another reason to why he is so hopeless about their relationship. Another example of a Paradox that is found in the song would be “Free time is costing me more than it seems.” (Drake 52) Similar to the line “Got me on flight overseas but I still can’t get across to you” (Drake 27-28). Drake contradicts himself by saying that something that is supposed to be free is costing him. Through this line he is trying to emphasize how much free time she is costing him. It allows the listener to see how much Drake is putting into the relationship from his part. Making the listener
The song called “Hotline Bling” is sung by Drake because his phone is constantly ringing like a “hotline.” The phone will forever ring because of fame and fans. In this song alliteration, nonstandard, and rhyme are being used. This song interest people just because of what he is saying and the way he is putting it.
He quotes, “We all got dreams and we all start reaching” (L. 24), expressing dreams becoming reality. Lights are spotlighted fame, while the money being thrown is income. Drake quotes “Housekeeping knocking to see if all ya”ll decent” (L. 25), suggesting party lifestyles. Being intoxicated, while not remembering who the partner was the night prior. It's hard to leave a surreal occupation with difficulties, which is expressed in “Houstatlantavegas”.
A paradox is a statement that seems self- contradictory. Does the cartoon helps you to understand the paradox of eating turkey at Thanksgiving? I’m not sure. On one hand, he is describing it as if it’s funny and then he speaks on how the turkey is being treated.
She appeared to be ridiculing him on Instagram for his love of athletes, claims AllHipHop.com. According to the site, RiRi’s remarks seemed every bit like she was throwing shade at the Canadian rapper when she replied to a post of her friend. Her fans also took to Twitter to speculate that she was slamming none but Drake, who she broke up with three months back in October.
To their surprise, Drake won't budge. I personal like this song, because most people in the world will look you right in your face and smile but inside they're the people who don't want you to succeed in life. Then we've the people that will tell you, you'll never be nobody. But you as a person you can't let people stop you from succeeding in life, and once you've met your goal, you've to prove them wrong that tried to bring you down, and didn't believe in you that you're somebody, and you can do anything that you set your mind to do. Nobody can stop you from doing what you want to do. This song is basically proving people wrong and that's why I personally like this
Overall, the song “Too Good” by Drake and Rhianna is met extremely well with the three criteria’s of rhythm, meaning, and voice. This song portrays a great meaning, that has excellent rhythm and voices of singers that fit the style of music it
In stanza 6, Adam Young said “I'm far too tired to fall asleep”. This is an example of a paradox, because the word “far too tired” seeming contradiction may reveal an unexpected truth. In another stanza, Adam Young sang “awake when I'm asleep”. This is an example of an oxymoron, because oxymoron is a combination of two words that appear to contradict each other, and by staying awake when asleep is a contradictory between the two terms. The use of oxymoron and paradox is shown throughout the lyric. The purpose is to show that he is awake when asleep at the same time, this will give a clearer idea of him having a vivid dream when trying to
The money ebing the motive for mostly everything in life. Then in the third line of the refrain we see the word "she", hinting at soem type of stripper, or possible a "Pro". Next lines after are just a reassurance from the weeknd bascically saying, "Great job, keep on going" while recongnizing that what shes doing is a difficult task to master and stay ahead with.
Based off the lyrics, the song is all about how Beyonce truly feels deep down inside. The message behind
Or perhaps the real artist, Taylor Swift’s purpose is to show the audience how ridiculous is the media image that has been created on her. It is a warning for both boys and girls, primarily those who are hoping to attract love from boys that love is perpetuated by its tortuousness. It is painful if boys will lose interest, that is Swift’s warning. The song revolves around a message for girls: do not be a daydream dressed like a daydream; do not be a nightmare dressed like a nightmare; do not find out what kind of a girl he wants and be like that forever, do not be heaven, do not be nice, do not be magic, never be too plain or perfect and good. You can also add torture to love and bring darkness to light, it is all about the
This song is full of multiple literary devices such as hyperboles, metaphors, and imagery. The hyperboles in the song emphasize strong feelings such as love, hate, and pain. For example, “Just [going to] stand there and watch me burn” (Rihanna, 1), is emphasizing that she is in extreme amounts of pain and all that her significant other is doing, is watching her suffer. “You ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe when [you are] with [them]” (Eminem, 33), emphasizes and how he is so in love with
Throughout the song Prince Royce repeats the word “You”. This word gives the effect of the song is about you. It gives the feeling that he is talking to you. Also it gives the point of view of a man. This woman have low self esteem and believe that they will never
This is what they call imagery. The singer is saying be yourself do not follow others, be yourself and don’t let your perse stop you. Later on in the song it say,”The ice we skate is getting pretty thin/ The water’s getting warm so you might as well swim/ My worlds on fire. How about yours/ That’s the way I like it and i’ll never get bored.” (Smash Mouth) This entire line of the song describes stress and it will try to stop you from being you, but when he rose up and he made a difference and forgot all about the stress he once had. The first part of the lyric is a simile. The final lyric in the song that is important is,” Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas/ I need to get myself away from this place/ I said yep, what a concept/I could use a little fuel myself/ And we could all use a little change.”( Smash Mouth) What he means by this is people ask him what he did to become this famous and he said,”you have to follow your dreams.” This is an example of a

The lyrics of a song often have no substance and a clear example would be any Britney Spears song. The lyrics of “All Falls Down” are very deep. They talk about the ideal situation in life; We should go to school, get a good job and make money to buy what we want. The lyrics then ask, what if this doesn’t happen? This is prevalent in the first verse. “She has no idea what she doing in college. That major that she majoring, it don’t make no money.” The song questions these everyday values because we focus so much on these things, we don’t realize there are more important things in life such as life itself. Even Kanye admits that he spent money at Jacob’s Jewellery store before he thought about a house. “I went to Jacob with
