Going to my old elementary school almost 5 days a month and helping the children makes me feel like I have a role that needs to be done. Children have asked me to come back every day and teach them something new. Throughout my four years here at Virginia High School, I have multiple positive contributions. One of the bigger contributions that I have made was being a leader through National Honor Society. This has given me the opportunity to set up the blood drives that happens every couple of months. It has also allowed me to participate at the food pantry. All of these activities have made me the person I am today and also allowed me to help the school look better in the community.

Throughout my senior year, I was captain of the cheer team and the basketball team. I really enjoyed leading them through the challenges and the successful times. Also, every other Friday I travel to our elementary school with some of my fellow classmates, and help the teachers and students out with any necessary tasks. The time I went out of my way to help someone is when I was at work. I had only been working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a couple of months. I was in and out of clients, when they asked me to work for this couple that needed help cleaning around the house. I did not mind since I desperately needing money at the time. This couple and I got along incredibly well, they was friendly, nice and loving. They told me what I needed to do and how to do it, I did everything they needed with time to spare. Thoughtful acts are very helpful because they can help someone, they may help your outlook in public, also it may help you feel good about yourself. I’ve been helpful to a lot of people in my past. To some people kindness just comes natural. The first kind act I did was babysit my baby cousin. My older cousin got called into work and had nobody to watch his son and so I stepped up and volunteered to watch son. I watched his son on March 30th 2015 at my home.

5. What changes would you make to help this classroom become more of a community? Why would developing this classroom into a community be important?

We all have something close to our heart that could make a positive change in our community and possibly even our earth. I could make a positive change in my community by raising money through fundraisers to buy new, unused, cotton clothing (shoes, shirts, shorts), and by donating these needed clothing items to underprivileged children. Due to my many hours of work in the community soup kitchen it was brought to my attention that there is a need for more than food, there is a necessitate for clothing. I would hope to make sure no child goes unclothed.
