The sociological perspective is the study of human life and social interactions, it also studies how those interactions mould groups and society as a whole. A sociological perspective goes past the manifest and challenge what is accepted as common-sense. Since sociologists analyze social phenomena at different levels, they come up with different perspectives to understand social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behaviour, each uniquely viewing society in their own way. In this paper we are going to look at the main sociological perspectives. Functionalism, is a framework for building theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work together to promote solidarity and stability . As an example, the family produces individuals and will rely on the school to transform them into money earners so that they can support the family financially and pay taxes to the state which will provide jobs and fund the schools. Symbolic interactionism is based on the ideas of George Mead (1863-1931), Charles cooley (1902) and W. Thomas (1931), but was coined by Herbert Blumer (1969), one of Mead’s student. As a paradigm, it helps to comprehend what is happening in day to day life experiments. Symbolic interactionists believe that reality is socially constructed. The theory consists of three core principles: meaning, language, and thought . Meaning posits that people take action in the direction of individuals and objects depending on the meaning given to them by the latter. Language gives humans a way to converse through symbols. Functionalism views society as the stability and assimilation of a range of forces that function within it. While society is a separate entity with a life of its own, there are individual elements contributing to that stability. Functionalism as a sociological theory emphasizes assimilation rather than the dissociation of society. There are many institutions that are looked at that include the economic system, government, education, religion, health care, and family. Symbolic interaction is theoretical perspective so it is still changing and evolving. It also has four kinds of understandings in the population and environment. One of the understandings is that symbolic interactionism is to understand why people engage or do not engage in social growth of the population .
