Jesus Christ was crucified with two robbers; the two robbers were both suffered for crimes that they had committed. Before they were all reviled Him but one of them changed his mind and rebuked his friend for his irreverence. He then asked the Lord to remember him when the Lord comes into His kingdom, which is when He came back and set up His kingdom on earth. Jesus rewarded the thief for his faith by promising him that He will be with him in paradise the very same day (Luke 23:39-43 NKJV).
This shows us that if a person comes to Jesus wholeheartedly, his deviant behavior will change. Jesus Christ will not come back and teach the Word of God, it is our duty as pastors to go and preach the Word of God. Paul charged Timothy to preach the word with a sense of urgency, availing himself of every opportunity (2 Tim. 4:2 NKJV). We are also being charged to go and convince,

Carter added that even the released prisoners who are convicted, if they involved with local congregation they will no longer commit crime or return to prison. So as pastors we should have programs for visiting prisoners so that we can preach the Word of God even to them
We should also love those people with deviant behavior; we are failing to win them to Christ because of pride. We are the ambassadors of God, so we have to do what Christ did while He was here on earth. Ad Stetzer (2011) said Jesus actively engaged the people of His culture, even those considered sexually immoral; the sinful woman (Luke 7:36-50); woman at the well (John 4:13-26); woman that was caught in adultery (John 8:3-11). He did not care about what the Pharisees said, His reputation was damaged but all of them end up being changed women. We are still being afraid of

The Office is a comedic mockumentary that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania and focuses on the lives of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Inc. employees over the course of nine years. It has many characters, but mainly centers around Michael Scott, the regional manager, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert (both salesman) and Pam Beesly, the receptionist. Over its nine seasons, the show has displayed many sociological concepts, but has the most examples of deviance, sex and gender, socialization and social interaction and groups and organization. Deviance in The Office is displayed mainly through one of its minor characters, Creed Bratton.
In the 1998 film American History X, Derek Vineyard is paroled after serving 3 years in prison for brutally murdering two black men who were breaking into his truck. Through his Brother Danny’s narration of a paper he is writing, it is learned that Derek was the leader of a large Neo-Nazi group known as D.O.C., or Disciples of Christ, that committed many acts of racial crime throughout Los Angeles. During his time in prison Derek decides that hate is a waste of time after being violently raped by fellow white supremacists, and his only friend being a black man, who was only in prison for a misunderstanding. After getting out on parole, Derek learns that Danny is headed down the same racist path as him, and decided that he must put a stop to it. Throughout this film there are many examples of the five theories of deviance; Functional, Conflict, Labeling, Broken Windows, and Differential Association. From Derek’s initial exposure to racism, all the way to him deciding to change, all five theories are exemplified through Derek, Danny, their Father, Cameron, or the D.O.C. as a whole.
Teens who have found it hard to deal with authority, emotions, and or puberty have found it easier to kill rather than to seek help. Some have thoughts of caring out these deviant acts at an early age. When medication is mixed with the feelings that puberty bring there is a mixture for disaster. Sometimes psychological mishaps lead to problematic circumstances making it harder for teens to deal with these complications. Teens also who are ridiculed daily by classmates, peers, and even adults found themselves hopeless and sought out murder or suicide sometimes a combination of both. Those teens who are made fun of daily by everyone they cross may feel as though they will be made fun of further after searching for help. So they tend to hold in all the feelings and bottle the emotions making them go to darker places and possibly looking for revenge for those who put them down. Sometimes these individuals that do the harm don’t notice the demolition of a person’s character. That just one person could make a difference in the downward spiral of the life a stake. In many cases all it ever takes is for one person to morally treat another person right and it could change the person who is suffering’s life. “Lanza used to be a mild-mannered student in high school, making the honor roll, and living with his mother, Nancy Lanza, who in turn loved playing dice games and decorating their upscale home for the holidays. A student in his tenth grade Honors English class recalled he was
In a culture with such diverse commonalities, the differentials that set precedent come from social norms. These norms set the template for what acceptable behaviors are and are not. Social norms have the potential to change and evolve over time however. Take slavery for instance; in early American history slavery was very commonplace and socially acceptable for its time. Later, slavery was abolished and then in the 1950s and 1960s the Civil Rights Movement worked to gain equality for African American citizens. The evolution of our social norms is often precipitated by the actions of Social Groups that exist within our society. Other times, changes in our society are instigated by the actions of social deviants. Revisiting the example of the Civil Rights Movement, Rosa Parks was in fact a social deviant; being a black woman in her time, her refusal to move to the back of the bus was socially unacceptable. Her actions prompted the unity of multiple Social Groups, thus provoking a civil movement that altered the perception of social normality. It can be said that societal change in itself is a social norm in which Social Groups, deviants are both necessary functions to bring about the growth that makes us who we are as a society.
If I were the king or Queen of the Kingdom by making strict laws where everyone who breaks the law should be enroll in forceful rehabilitation programs for mild deviances and incarceration for those criminal offences. I will lead with the purpose of transparency and doing the correct things to build trust in my kingdom and lead by example. Deviant behaviors include all those violations of social norms or breaking the law. This includes any behavior that is not normal within the individual’s normal behavior. In our society all, the behaviors are seen either as deviant or as a normal behavior. The lecture # 3 of the class explains, “It is not the act itself, but the reaction to the act, that makes something deviant.” There are many unique groups
Strain Theory – Modes of Adaptation – how individuals adapt to the strain of not having access to scarce resources such as money, education, talent, ability, etc. Merton says we don’t all have the same opportunities in life
1. What are the consequences of labeling? 2. Being labeled because for your actions did it affect your personal life? 3.
There is also a large difference between conforming our beliefs to accept others and just simply loving them. If we meet somebody who is gay we don’t need to believe that it is okay and we should just accept homosexuality as being culturally acceptable. But on the other hand we don’t need to constantly shame them and tell them they are going to hell. When responding to people in suburbs and people anywhere in the world we need to find the middle ground. If we tell someone what they are doing is wrong and they are going to hell it is only going to spread hatred and give us a bad reputation. Instead we need to show love and guidance with people. If we earn their trust first it will be much easier and effective to show them christianity and what God wants for us.

Deviance is defined as the fact or state of departing from usual or accepted standards, especially in social or sexual behavior. There are many different forms of deviance in today 's society. Something that is viewed as being deviant in one culture might be seen as normal in another. There are many different types and theories in which define deviance, however their are 3 broad categories, these 3 categories are positivist, relativist, and critical conceptions of deviance. These 3 categories are important in defining deviance because they break down deviance as a whole and better help understand the different acts in which we label as being deviant. Deviance as a whole is important to study especially in today 's society with their
People who suffer from personality disorders often display deviant behavior. The mental illness itself is not deviant. They typically have problems with social skills, mood swings, emotional states, and are often unable to maintain healthy, stable relationships. Many sufferers do not possess the capability to have genuine emotions, including empathy for others. A personality disorder is the basis of many circumstances of maladaptive behavior including substance abuse, self-harm, suicide, and criminality.
Deviance is described as being behaviour that is not part of the norms in your particular society. This can be different throughout the world because some cultures have very different norms (Stephens and Leach, 1998:17). Most deviant behaviour will attract disapproval from others in the society or punishment from authorities. There are many different types of deviance such as addiction, mental illness, alcoholism, criminality and homosexuality. Throughout this essay six types of theories will be discussed about how and why people are deviant. Four of these theories support the idea of deviance being biological and three support the idea of it being caused by your social construction. Also the essay will talk about the differences between
In the story of Marty M. can be identify some deviance the first example, which is the obvious one is her alcoholism, (With a creeping insidiousness, drink had become more important than anything else. Pg225) this behavior is considered deviance especially in the time, which she lived, it was considered impossible to think that a woman was an alcoholic.
In the United States of America, societal deviance changes nearly on a daily basis. Depending on the current culture, deviance is modified to make societal heroes like celebrities, political figures, and sport players look less deviant and more like role models for the public. The change in what is considered “normal” is customarily a result of society in general. By using a reference group of people, individuals tend to identify with those who are in the lime light. Then when that role model does something appalling, the public becomes desensitized to this behavior and its abnormality and becomes less distinct thus adding to the change in social deviances.
