"So what have you been up too." he asks, sneaking a glance in my direction "I haven't seen you since before break." "Yeah." I run my hand through my ponytail and reach over and turn on the A/C. "It's been a busy summer." I add We sit in silence after that. Painful awkward silence. It only lasts three minutes tops when Carter breaks it by asking me what some of my favorite classes are. "Uh....I'm taking a psychology class." Soon after I say it I regret it. Carter and I are in the same psychology class and I don't think he knows it. They're about a hundred other students in the class so I wouldn't be that far off to assume that he doesn't know. Also taking into account that I sit twelve rows behind him towards the way back. So me being me under pressure, I respond without thinking. "I think she can do better." I say honestly, but regret it immediately. I half expect him to be angry at my invalidated answer. However, when I turn to look at him, his lips are lifted into a small smirk. Unbelievable I mentally scoff. What kind of person has the audacity to be smug after being insulted. But when I see his hands clench around the steering wheel it makes me think that the smile was fake; that my words were in fact affecting him. I keep staring at his face questioningly, waiting for him to say something. His eyes gleam and he rubs his thumb along his bottom lip in thought "Your right." he says almost bitterly and continues " Afterall, I'm the big heartless guy who fucks everyone over and has no respect for anyone, especially women, right?" I almost flinch at the harsh words even though his voice is completely calm. Carter shakes his head, a sly smirk on his lips that I would describe as a mix between deadly and wicked. I shift in my spot and clear my throat "Well... your not exactly disputing against the things being said about you--that is if what's being said is not
“Well, I haven’t been ‘round these parts in a long while, just got some business to take care of,” I replied.
He turns his back to me and I catch Menendez give me a quick wink. He’s up to something.
“Good, now enough about me, what’s been going on in your life?” Carmon asked as she folded her arms.
He lets go of me and I turn around and smirk at him. He raise his eyebrows at me and smirks to before saying, “You really think that I won't reach down there?”
“Well, this is going to be fun,” Thorn comments with sarcasm thick in her words. She thinks we’re going to die.
He looks ashamed at me now. I think he sees how shouting at me there wasn't his best idea.
“Why can’t I just go to school?” Otto asks his father. He says that question always in the car when they get in. He pronounces everything so strongly, too.
I don’t flinch from the stinging pain in my cheek, instead I raise my head defiantly and sneer at him. He reminds me of Butte, only brave when someone can’t fight back.
Raven takes another sip of her coffee, before answering. “So you decided to come and bother me?”
"A little! A little? try a whole fucking lot!" I scream in his face. "Here let me give you a scenario. First, you get attacked by unknown people. Then, you get teleported to an unknown land where you find out you have powers. Then, you get falsely accused of being a spy and sent to execution. Then lastly, right before you 're about to be executed your boyfriend screams out that you 're a princess." I say in a sickly sweet voice. "Now let me ask you a question, how would you react if all that happened to you? Because I know how I am reacting to that. I am pretty damn freaked out and I 'm hoping that this is some sick joke or a nightmare." I say slowly feeling the panic take over.
While scrunching my eyelids together and resisting the urge to facepalm myself, I say, “Scrap that, temporarily lost brain function for a moment.” I open one eye to witness his reaction, fully expecting to find him laughing at my humiliation. The mischievous grin remains, though not from my blunder. He's staring down at his feet with his hands remaining hidden within his pockets. With both eyes open, I ogle him shamelessly, only to blush when he gazes at me through his lashes.
I look to my dad, desperately trying to hide the fear that was spewn across my face; he looks at me and smiles, a confident smile, obviously not reading the terror I managed to hide.
“I’ve been busy. Travelling, working a bit. Y’know.” Yu reached into her backpack and pulled out a drawstring bag.
“Aw, look at you,” He sings. “All miffed and adorable, I can tell why you hang
"I usually would but I don 't do good to those like you," I replied with a bigger smirk.
