The Original Family Family is a very important thing. Everyone on the face of this Earth deserves a family. We’ve all been told that some relationships are temporary and that family is forever. But what happens when that family betrays you? What happens when the parents that swore to love us turn their backs on us? A prime example of this is Niklaus Mikaelson, the original vampire werewolf hybrid off the hit TV show The Originals. “Niklaus is the most hated and feared amongst all the originals, but those who fear him seek his approval”. Truer words couldn’t have been spoken from Niklaus’s brother Elijah Mikaelson. Niklaus has gained a reputation for himself as being the most sadistic, diabolic, and unemotional vampire in history. Of course, the history of vampires start with Niklaus’s family, the Mikaelson’s are the first vampires ever, The Originals. After the death of their brother Henrik, mothers Esther Mikaelson, the original witches, turned her family into vampires to protect themselves. But Niklaus was not born this evil and scary vampire, he was made this ways. Years of mental and physical torment from his parents shaped Niklaus into the paranoid, sadistic and irrational vampire that he is today. Niklaus lacked a stable up bringing from his parents like we’re used to in today’s society. An unstable upbringing can produce an unstable child, let alone an unstable vampire. Niklaus parents but play different but prominent roles in his development as a person. In
For example, James and John Welsh were very close when they were younger and grew up together. But, then they had a disagreement and fought against each other and never spoke again. I think this is horrible. I don’t understand how someone can fight against his or her own blood. Family
Have you ever wondered about giving up your family because their annoying, or you want to “fit in”? Well in these two stories I chose they explain how giving up your family can potentially be dangerous.
Family, a foundation to build an empire of a story from yet the easiest to tear down from guilt or the portrayal of guilt. The story depicts two very different siblings, one brother Manchester who is rich, successful, brawny, and has a knack for snacks. Widely different from Manchester is Skidmore due to the fact he is a sad, and creepy individual. Also he does not have a knack for snacks or sweets. Two divergent individuals, yet one unable to function without the help of the other. Now the story would not be complete without one brother becoming completely jealous and despising the other. Commonly this leads to several things such as arguing, fighting, or to better put it, leads to betrayal. Betrayal, a common theme among siblings, say one
In the case of the “Werewolf Massacre”, Jasmine Richardson, alongside her boyfriend Jeremy Steinke, slayed Jasmine’s entire family, including her mother, father, and eight year old brother in their Medicine Hat home, April 2006. When the bodies of the Richardson family were discovered with 12 year old jasmine missing, it was first believed that the suspect who had killed the victims also kidnapped her as well. After examination, authorities deemed that Jasmine being kidnapped was not the case whatsoever, but rather her, and her 23 year old boyfriend Jeremy were the prime suspects in the deaths of Marc, Deborah, and Jacob Richardson. Motive was established when the parents of Jasmine became upset with the fact their daughter was dating the 23
There are many different kinds of families that range from traditional (i.e. married) to untraditional families such as divorced, remarried, same- sex, and brady-bunch style. In this day and age, the overall consensus is that families vary and that is okay. There is no right or wrong way of doing things anymore, at least to some extent. I come from a family that is divorced and remarried a few times, and I have many brothers and sisters that share anywhere between all blood, some blood, and no blood. I love them all the same. For my case study project, I thought it would be interesting to observe a family which is somewhat similar to my own.
Arthur Miller demonstrates how a character’s obsession/fixation, can result in being manipulative while committing a grave sin of lust towards a male character. Abigail is Proctor’s past maid, who has a love affair with him. Abigail is able to persuade Proctor into thinking, that he needs sexual desires in his life since his wife is sick and is unable to sexual please him. Abigail states:
Families can mean a lot of different things to different people. For some family is everything, just knowing that someone is there for you during a personal crisis to help you and provide you with love is comforting. However, at the same time a family can be heartless and relentless providing you with no comfort, instead just pain and misery. We all can agree that families shape our development and how we view the world. From childhood our thoughts and actions are shaped based on experiences from a sibling or parent that went through them. However, the influence of a family could be positive or negative, whether it is showing us the right side or perhaps making the same mistakes. In literature many writers have been influenced by their families two great examples are “A Brother’s Murder” by Brent Staples and “My father’s Life” by Raymond Carver, both writers express in great detail how families have shaped and affected them as individuals.
Parents often make decisions based on their children’s well being but, sometimes being protective can be a bad thing. For example, Amir, the main character from the book “The Kite Runner”, had lived his whole life believing that his servant friend, Hassan, was his father’s favorite out of the two because he was more like his father than he was, not knowing that Hassan was actually his half brother. Baba and everyone around Amir that knew had kept this huge secret from both Hassan and Amir, making Amir very guilty about everything that happened during his childhood. Another example would be Oedipus, the main character from Oedipus Rex, that was abandoned by his parents because of a curse. His parents nailed his ankles to the trees so that he would not move but, someone let him go. Oedipus ended up marrying his mother and was on a hunt to kill his father just like the curse said he would, until the truth came out and it was too late to save his mother. All the secrets led to the real life that Amir and Oedipus have to face to rid themselves of the guilt.
What does the word family mean to you? In my opinion, family means everything to me. It’s the people I knew since I was born, who I know I can turn to anytime needed. Everyone has their own definition of family, it can be positive, negative, or even both. In the world’s society everyone is born into a family, it can be a traditional, a un-blood related, or an extended family. No matter how well a family relationship can be there is no such thing as a perfect family. In many classic pieces of literature, many writers’ use themes of conflict between the children and their parents. It can be conflicts towards each other or conflicts the family experiences together. In many well know novels, many characters from tragic events of abuse, cruelty, and negligent events kept their courage to survive through terrible events. The story of “Ellen Foster” Kaye Gibbons takes a reader inside a story of young orphaned girl, who is passed down to every family until the she is able to find the perfect one she fit into. In the classic novel “Night” author Elie Wiesel writes a historical piece about a young boy’s experience in a concentration camp. Losing half of his family the young boy Eliezer has to fight with his father through suffering tactics from the Nazis. The classic play “Romeo and Juliet”, William Shakespeare writes a tragic piece about two young lovers being forced to disobey family orders to be with each other. In all three pieces of literature, the characters struggle
Your family has one of the biggest impacts on who you turn out to be in the world. It doesn’t matter if you have an ideal relationship with your family or a um, putting it lightly, a not so good one like what John Elder Robison, the author of the memoir, “Look Me in the Eye” had. Whatever kind of relationship you have with your parents, you cannot deny that they influenced your identity because they are the people who raised you. Since John Elder’s parents were not good parents, John’s identity was molded into who he is today from trying not to be his parents. John Elder was abused physically and emotionally as a child.
A family is defined as a group of people who are somehow related. A family relationship either can negatively or positively affect that child physically, mentally, and or socially when they are older. It may even affect how they treat people. Melinda is a teenage girl who went through problems like victim of raped, depression, considered an outcast, and high school all together. What if a child felt no one wanted to listen, maybe they had no way out, - or even that they couldn’t speak up?
Family will always make an impact in any decisions you make. Elie Wiesel shows this very well in the book Night. The main character Eliezer and his father are sent to a concentration camp. During the time of them being there Eliezer stayed by his father’s side. Despite all the torturing and beating his father got, he still stayed by Eliezer’s side. Many other people show an example of strong family bonds during the reading of this book.Strong family bonds can sustain people through tragedy and hardship.
Healthy family relationships act as pillars for interactions with people outside the household. Families have a way of instilling people’s attitude, characters and the general perception towards life. Such are characters that are developed in
Family relationships can shape one’s character and indirectly impact their personality. These influences are observed in the book The Road by Cormac McCarthy and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The term ‘family’ does not necessarily refer to relationships by blood, but it can also relate to other types of deep emotional connections that are similar. For instance, Victor and the monster are not family, however, since Victor created the monster (Shelley, 83), he can be viewed as a father figure to his creation. In the book Frankenstein, we will explore the relationships Victor has with both his own family and with the monster. In the book, The Road we will uncover the relationship between the father and the son. By exploring the relationships from each book we will discover how these interpersonal relationships are significant in affecting each character’s behaviour. Moreover, we will compare the similarities and differences between both families
My family has always been very close. We spend a great deal of time together and express our deep feelings and emotions with one another. If one of us has an issue, every member of the family is aware of it and shares the burden. When a person in the family does not share significant information about one’s life with the rest of the members, there is hurt feelings. Also, if a member cannot attend a family event, the family feels disappointed and misses the absent member. It is evident that connectedness is held as extremely valuable.
