Event Analysis
For SPM 493 – Venue & Event Management, we had to visit over ten different venues ever Thursday evening, so now it’s my turn to analyze one of these venues or a venue that I’ve visited in the past. Since I am a sport management major that obliviously mean that I’m a vivid sports fan. Also, I am a local to the Tampa Bay area so I’ve have visited many of these venues several times. For this assignment, I decided to go with the Amway Center which is the home of The Orlando Magic who is an American professional basketball team based in Orlando Florida, that have been around since 1989. The president is Alex Martins, Team manager is Rob Hennigan, Head coach is Frank Vogel, Ownership is RDB sports, Inc., where Richard DeVos is

The city had over one hundred different parks and twenty-one community center that host many different things from athletic camps to Saturday morning fresh markets. Orlando is home to a surprising more than one hundred lakes. One of the most famous lake in Orlando sit in Lake Eola Park which is 23 acres of lake. The lake is surrounded by a 0.9-mile path. One thing that I recently learned about Lake Eola that it is a giant sinkhole and that its deepest point is nearly 100 feet now that is crazy for a lake. Also in Lake Eola, they have this tree that is likely between 350 and 400 years old. Some of Orlando famous sports facts are they are the home of the Dubsdread Golf Course which is the oldest public course in the area. The Orlando City Soccer Club was originally founded in Austin, Texas before they relocating to Orlando. The Citrus Bowl was the site of five 1994 World Cup soccer matches. They also hosted the 1996 Olympic soccer first and second rounds. Moving on to information about the Amway Center itself, like I said before Amway Center is located at 400 W Church St #200, Orlando, FL 3280. It is in the heart of downtown Orlando. The tenants of the Amway Center are The Orlando Magic (NBA), Predators(AFL) and Solar Bears (ECHL).

The current Amway Center only has been around for the last six years. It took all the following people to make the Amway Center what it is. The architects were Populous, C.T. Hsu + Associates, and Baker Barrios Architects, Inc. The
Built in 1927 and opened in 19282, Williams Arena, affectionately known to students as “The Barn” is the fifth oldest college basketball arena in the United States3. It has undergone many renovations since opening but unfortunately the payment technology in the concession stands is stuck in 1928, accepting cash only. The purpose of this proposal is to persuade you to implement credit card payment options to the concessions stands at Williams Arena. After exhaustive research, I have concluded that offering alternative methods of payment, along with the standard cash option, would benefit the Sales and Service Department of University of Minnesota Athletics as well as arena guests. Guest services are a vital aspect to a sport-goer’s experience. At
The United Center took the place of the old Chicago Stadium on August 18, 1994 and became home of two remarkable teams. The United Center was built by William Wirtz (owner of the Blackhawks), and Jerry Reinsdorf (majority owner of the Blackhawks and team chairman of the Bulls). The Blackhawks and Bulls each own 50 percent of the Center in a joint venture. It is the largest arena in the United Stated and the NBA. The United Center has hosted over 200 events each year and 40 million guests since its grand opening in 1994. It has a seating capacity of 20,917 seats and has kept the old nickname of Chicago Stadium. For the fans, the United Center has places called the Fandemonium, the Locker Room, and the Windy City Grill. The United Center's acoustics were designed to make the noise level loud to recreate "The Roar" like it was at Chicago Stadium. Also the United Center was renovated in 2009 and 2010 to make 169 executive suites on the third level. It also has 144 flat screen televisions, new food and beverage stations, and two new bars that open to panoramic views, new signs, new menu items, new concession stand and seating in 326 called "Backstage", two new novelty areas, and new video systems. The United Center is portrayed very well on its website and on NBA website. The website talks about the history and what it has to offer to its fans.
The halls of the Center softly whisper out “Bob Martinez” over and over after its re-dedication in 2013. Martinez was born and raised in Tampa. He
Mark Lauber, a Wharton School of Business graduate, founded Branchburg Sports Complex (BSC) in 2008 after selling his and his father’s previous venture to another company. As a lover of sports and family entertainment destinations such as Disney Land, Mark envisioned bringing the “wow-factor” that these world renowned destinations possess to the realm of sports centers. BSC is a 78,000 square foot facility consisting of four indoor turf fields, basketball courts, training center, multi-level PlayMaze, arcade with redemption center, batting cages, and a three-floor 9,000 square foot interactive fantasy-themed laser tag arena. Advertising “fun and excitement for the whole family,” Mark truly provides activities for all demographics. He
For this assignment I choose to attend a Los Angeles Clippers game even though I am a big Lakers fan; mainly because it better fit into my budget and the appeal of watching this young high flying team made it seem like it was going to be a good night. Going into the game it was being dubbed as the “battle of the double-doubles” as the Minnesota Timberwolves led by Kevin Love and his 28 straight double doubles took on Blake Griffin and his 26 straight double doubles.
On October 24th 2015 Arizona State Universities PRM 486 Special Events Management class hosted a day of service event at the Maricopa County Human Services Campus. The PRM class spent the first few weeks of class up till the 24th planning this event. The Day of Service students were split into two groups that had about fifteen students each in them. Those two groups were then split into 5 different sub-committees that consisted of a marketing team, a volunteer team, a sponsorship/hospitality team, a budget team, and a logistics team. Each team has specific duties that would contribute to the completion of this event each week. The marketing team duties consisted of getting t-shirts printed for the PRM students as well as all of the volunteers that were going to attend, and to help spread the word around about the event and what it entailed. The volunteer teams duties consisted of handling everything that had to with the volunteers the day of the event most of these students on this team were in a different group sharing what they could up until the day of the event when they actually had to help the large amount of volunteers. The team I was on was the sponsorship/hospitality team. Our duties consisted of getting various amounts of supplies for the day of service. These supplies were all kinds of things that would make the day of service run smoothly such as getting the breakfast for everyone volunteering, getting all of the gloves people were wearing during the
With the location set and the money covered, the stadium needed a name. The city wanted to dedicate the stadium in honor of veterans who have defended America’s freedom since its inception in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776. One such was War Veterans Stadium, but wasn’t quite right seeing how it was strongly opposed by anti-war activist. So, Veterans Stadium had a better ring to it and was approved in March of 1970. Now, with a name figured out next was to build the beast. In came Hugh Stubbins & Associates to lead the design and construction would conducted by McCloskey & Co. The design feature 62,000 seats within seven different seating levels. The lower stands housed

Like the saying goes, “everything is bigger in Texas.” Nothing can hold more true to that statement than the marvel of what is the Houston Astrodome. Conceived by former city mayor Roy Hofheinz, designed by the Morris Architects (Ballparks by Munsey and Suppes), the Houston Astrodome broke ground in 1962 and was completed in November 1964. After her completion, she would be dubbed the 8th Wonder of the World. Before her inception, there was no other indoor, multi-purposed sports stadium in the country. Opening Day was April 9th, 1965 to a sold out crowd between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees. Between opening day, and her final game
“I am angry because of your behavior, and I can not make jokes with you.” my mom said, “I am not mean to you, I just want you to be as thin as you can. Guys all like thin girls, so I hope that you can show your beauty during your youth.”
The month of March may be the largest stage for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The basketball tournament known as “March Madness”, brings in publicity, as well as revenue for the schools. People may ask, “why is this college basketball tournament so popular?” The answer is, it is the student athletes that make it exciting to watch. The athletic director for student services at Kansas State University, Phil Hughes, calls the student athletes “The Entertainment Product” (Varsity Green 13). The nickname may sound rash or rude, however he is right. The student athletes attract the crowds, that lead to sold out arenas. Hughes’ office is in a $1 million facility in the academic learning center at KSU, right next to the $2 million football facility (Varsity Green 14). If it were not for the publicity and revenue from the big-stage events for KSU, there would not be any million dollar facilities for the students and coaches to enjoy.
In the United States, new sports stadiums are commonly seen as a vital part of the redevelopment of a city having a great economic growth with the production of jobs and a positive income builder. After this, the owners of the pro sports teams with millions and millions of dollars of subsidies for the construction of new stadiums and arenas and expect these facilities to generate economic benefits exceeding these subsidies by large margins. However, a growing body of fact indicates that professional sports facilities, and the franchises they are home to, may not be engines of economic benefit anywhere claims Sachse, “. In reality, sports franchises typically account for a very small proportion of the total economic output of the cities in which they reside.” Some economical studies on the amount of income and employment in US cities find no evidence of positive economic benefits associated with past sports facility construction and some studies find that professional sports facilities and teams have a net negative economic impact on income and employment. It just shows that these results suggest that at best, professional sports teams and facilities provide non-pecuniary benefits like civic pride, and a greater sense of community, along with consumption benefits to those attending games and following the local team in the media; at worst, residents
I found this essay to be very intriguing and it definitely changed my perspective on Queen Gertrude, it made me want to pay more attention to hints in reading and makes me want to think more in depth. If I never read this essay I would have never thought that Gertrude could have been involved in Ophelia's death.
The majority of the lifestyle center will be located on the upper level of the complex that will surround the three basketball courts. This will allow the users the option of watching the activities going on down below, or to watch one of the many TVs that will be set up for their enjoyment.
