Hooverball is a combination of tennis and volleyball, but is played with a medicine ball. The game was designed for players that were not superstar athletes, but instead members of the United States government looking to get a quick workout. It made as more of a friendly competition and an exciting way to exercise rather than the typical boring jog or strength training routine. Although the game has not been as popular as sports such as baseball, football, or basketball, it has made a recent surge of popularity among members of the CrossFit community and the select few who participate yearly in the Hooverball Championships in West Branch, Iowa.
In chapter five, “Facility Design and Planning”, the text talks about the design and planning of an athletic training room and how the best ones are those that have undergone comprehensive planning before its development. Wood, multi-purpose, and concrete are the three types of court surfaces being experimented on. “All professional and collegiate leagues use hardwood court for their basketball games.” (Lorelie). There’s logic in why they use them. For example, Wood courts got referred to as one of the softest courts. Concrete surfaces got researched too. “These are the most popular types of surfaces for outdoor basketball courts. In fact, nearly all who play basketball starts playing on concrete or asphalt court.” (Lorelie). This shows, they must be popular for their spring, and for being compact and durable. Multi-purpose floor got researched last, because it’s little rarer than the other floorings. They have a
You asked me to describe the relative advantages of licensing options and offer my recommendation on how the athletic department should proceed. The University Athletic Department should implement a Licensing Program. A Licensing program would protect the Athletic Department's ownership interest in the Universities athletic logos. One of the important functions of the Licensing Program would be to protect the University Athletics in the legal interests regarding the registered trademarks. It is necessary to protect the Universities legal interests because the law requires that registered trademarks be safeguarded from improper use in order to protect our legal ownership interest in them.
A plethora of reasons exist as to why a certain sport might signal importance to a state, but in Indiana, the sport happens to standout on a whole different level. Current Southeast Dubois Superintendent, Rick Allen, commented on why Indiana high school basketball remains superior saying, “One reason Indiana high school basketball is such a standout of a sport in Indiana is because of the community support behind the team” (Allen 2). The era of basketball between 1911-present remains crucial today not only for the big schools’ gyms in Indiana, but also for small towns gyms such as Huntingburg, Loogootee, Tell City, Ferdinand, and numerous others.
Purpose: to inform the audience about basketball such as the basketball rules and history and development of basketball.
