Etowah, Tennessee has implemented an asset-based economic development strategy that has yielded incredible results. Thoroughly researched, the asset-based strategy has produced more positive results and outcomes than negative. From increased job opportunities to the economic growth of the town. However, there are two possible situations, if they occur, that could be detrimental to the town. The first threat focuses on the young leaders in Etowah. Having young leaders in local government is an excellent way for new ideas and approaches to be implemented to keep up with our constantly changing society. The residents in Etowah have a lot of pride in their town and are eager to see it be successful. The young leadership and participation in the …show more content…
It is easy to see that Etowah’s success is a result of their asset-based development strategy. Taking something old and unused and turning it into a unique asset that supports the town and local vendors. However, many rural communities lack adequate technology and/or connections to advertising. Available funds can really affect how well a small community is able to advertise the various amenities they have to offer. As previously noted, the Chamber of Commerce in Etowah became acutely aware of the town’s inability to market and advertise the downtown area and initiated the publishing of a shopping and dining guide (Lambe, 2008, p. 57). Will this shopping and dining guide be enough to draw in more visitors and tourists from other regions or states? The inability to adequately advertise could potentially affect the number of visitors and tourists going through Etowah, which could put a significant strain on the local economy. Many people depend on these amenities for jobs and if a small town like Etowah is unable to develop a strategy for allocating appropriate money for larger scale advertising, the rail excursions and downtown shops and restaurants will
Managing change and diversity at EasiYo FROM A MANUFACTURING base in Auckland, EasiYo enables over a million homes in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Italy and China to enjoy fresh yoghurt every day of the year. It supports home production through the supply of powdered bases and culture and a plastic incubator in which the yoghurt ferments. Paul O'Brien joined the company as CEO in December 2009 and has overseen sales growth of around 30 per cent a year, on the way to a target of sales in excess of $50 million to 20 plus countries. Local government and the challenges of the future is a comprehensive topic and subject to many differing opinions as it relates to geographical area examination and their specific needs. Every country, province, city etc. has their own detailed challenges in urban and rural settings but internationally there are similarities.
Development in Trail has not been streamlined as it has in Rossland, partly because the Official Community Plan does not explicitly provide for aesthetic application and partly because the industry and the economy in Trail are not tourism based. This is evidenced
I believe its a bit difficult to specify a specific disorder to accurately diagnose Etta, because the video does not denote time frame and how long these symptoms occur or lasted. One thing is for certain Etta does show symptoms as denoted above; delusion hallucination, disturbed behavior, catatonia and paranoia. If I had to select a disorder from Chapter 6 that would best describe Etta's condition I would say Schizophreniform Disorder.
The United States and its allied partners have made good progress in their efforts to control terrorist activities in many parts of the globe, but these efforts can only yield results if the substantial funding sources of Da'esh and similar groups aren't curbed immediately. They must focus efforts on adopting proactive measures that curb the market of looted and stolen antiquities and artifacts by terrorist organizations. Blood antiquities serve as a major means of funding terrorists ensures their continued existence and the possibility for future expansion. The Middle East is an exceptional archaeological and art-historical palimpsest of vanished and still existing civilizations as illustrated with an array of sites and monuments spanning
Just like Blank’s Startup America, Boston Duck Tour, operating in hospitality and tourism industry, could be likened to a scalable entrepreneurial venture with a high level of prospect to scale up operations to have a wider impact on the tourism world. This is true as the case affirms that “Boston Duck Tours was only open for two months its first season. The next year, it carried almost 15 times as many passengers as it had the previous year, and tours were selling out every day. By the third year, the company was a well-established part of the city’s tourism industry, and those adversaries who had made things difficult at the beginning started embracing Boston Duck Tours.”
As a leader in his capacity, the Sheriff was able to make changes and mold the organization in the manner that fit with his vision for the organization. A transformational leader should be able to provide a vision to change and organization or in this case the community and be able to do so successfully. Transactional theories of leaders must be able to successfully express and implement visions that will enable growth to organizations and individuals. “Knowledge of the structures of the structures and processes f local government is necessary for citizens and professionals to choose wisely among the ways they may govern their communities, but it is not sufficient (Box, 2014, p 134).” As a community, it is our responsibility to be aware of the changes going on and being a part of decision making within the government that they are able to participate in. “Local control means that people in communities decide their futures relatively independently, putting outside pressures in perspective and fighting against closed or elitist political systems (Box, 2014, p 135). The participation of local citizens is imperative to moving along the processes of change that individuals propose to bring forth change and bring forth
I will direct the audience to a financial analysis of profits expected in a 5 year plan. In addition, I’ll reemphasize that this project goes beyond just making profits but increasing customer satisfaction, addressing a political problem with the locals, and boosting the local economy of the city of Taos. Furthermore, showing how these intangible benefits will lead to tangible benefits in the future such as a strengthened city economy will speed up building an airport close by so tourists do not have to fly into the nearest airport 3 hours away.

I understand the underlying issue to originate from a lack of clarity in purpose. We cannot act without direction and reflection will be key, there’s no hope for change and growth if we don’t. It will be through a strong sense of conviction and strategic projects that we will flourish; I surmise that no single grandiose act will deeply impact life, instead I propose it will be the smaller but repeated acts that will have the greatest efficacy in making a difference. From a legislative standpoint, our defining shortcoming is the economy. Its inadequacies suppress our true potential, schools lack vital funding and wages are barely livable. This makes our town appear rundown, the struggling economy has choked the youth out of Prescott Valley. But, when I look to struggles we face, I find it best to ignore the inescapable negatives, instead I turn to optimism and imagine where we be through
If one can experience the riches of this country he has a legitimate opportunity to boast. Ultimately, the country’s government invests money into making it appealing to attract more tourism, further attracting more business. (Karbelashvili, 2015)
The global airline industry has been growing rapidly in the last decade benefiting from many factors. According to the international Air transport Association (IATA), the airline industry had another strong year in 2014, solidifying a positive trend in profitability after huge losses during the 2008—2009 global economic recession. Net post tax profit for 2014 was $16.4 billion, a 2.2% margin on revenues. (IATA , 2015). Much of that growth has been driven by low-cost carriers, which now control some 25 percent of the worldwide market and which have been expanding rapidly in emerging markets; growth also came from continued gains by carriers in developed markets, the IATA reported. Having said that, yet profit margins for most airlines are razor
This study explores how the local community of an old beach side town utilize their local corner market. This study will analyze how the store is utilized as both a symbol of local identification and how it gives cultural meaning to the term “local”. Though my research, interviews and observations this study will show how a local store can identify a person of the community as a local and while at the same time promote itself as the key symbol of what it means to be local.
