Sept. 1, 2016 Dear Gamma Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma: Gamma Pi Chapter has a long history on the University of Alabama campus. Since its founding in 1927, Gamma Pi Chapter has produced many outstanding members who have made significant academic, professional and volunteer contributions. It is the Fraternity’s hope that Gamma Pi Chapter continues to be a positive influence both within our organization and the campus community. In October 2014, Gamma Pi Chapter was placed on a Warning of Probation due to issues related to Recruitment, standards and member accountability. In August 2015, Gamma Pi Chapter was placed on Probation due to an event involving alcohol during work week, which violated the Fraternity’s Risk Management Procedures and …show more content…
The Membership Chairman worked closely with the Leadership Consultants to ensure voting practices were executed appropriately and chapter members were the only ones involved in the process. For these reasons, the Fraternity Council has voted to remove Gamma Pi Chapter from Probation and place the chapter on a Warning of Probation with a review in September 2017. As we move forward, we expect the progress made over the last year will continue while focusing on strengthening chapter operations and leadership development of members. Following are the terms of the Warning of Probation: • The key to a strong, sustainable and well-operating chapter is officers who clearly understand the expectations of their positions. Each Chapter Council member and her committee will review the appropriate, updated Leadership Guide and watch the respective, archived officer webinar. Prior to Nov. 1, hold a discussion of what was learned and make notes in the Chapter Council meeting minutes. Chapter Council officers will describe how their positions contribute to the overall operation of the chapter and adjust their tasks …show more content…
We will monitor your progress throughout this year to ensure the terms of the Warning of Probation are being met and that the shift in chapter culture continues in a positive direction. At that time, if the terms of this letter are not met, the Warning of Probation may be extended. We represent our letters 24/7 and our connection to values is evident in our daily actions. The culture of Gamma Pi Chapter must continue to change and refocus on the true meaning of our Fraternity. You must continue open and honest communication with the Fraternity and your Coordinator of Chapter
The Gamma Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority , Incorporated was organized in Monroe, North Carolina in 1964. The chapter was reactivated August 14, 2000 at the 78th International Boule in St. Louis, Missouri. The chapter has continued to implement the sorority’s mission to enhance the quality of life in the community by giving, uplifting, and serving one service project at a
As the newly installed President of the chapter, I will do my best to relay all the facts and
As you may know, in April 2013, Fraternity Council voted to suspend operations of Zeta Eta Chapter effective June 2013. For several years, members of Zeta Eta Chapter found it challenging to maintain competitive recruitment numbers with other Greek-letter women’s organizations on campus. Ultimately, Fraternity Council determined the university-owned chapter facility would have to be relinquished in fall 2013 due to insufficient residency numbers.
Viral videos of fraternity and sorority members partying and getting drunk off of beer might be the first images of Greek Life that pop into your mind, but that’s only a stereotype. There are nine historically black Greek letter organizations across the country that present an entirely different image of Greek life. Focusing on their multiple involvement on campus, National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) members are proactive in the community and on USCA’s campus.
Working in a competitive and friendly environment has always motivated me to take up new challenges and as a result I have decided to rush Delta Sigma Pi, a professional fraternity that focuses also on social connections. From my previous work experience at Ampex Restaurant Management I learned how to build and sustain relationships with my coworkers and customers. This experience provided e with an opportunity
While Ithaca College’s Greek life scene was vibrant in the seventies and eighties, a number of hazing scandals occurred in the 80s. These scandals were brought to national attention following the hazing related death of one student. Because of this, Ithaca College no longer recognizes any social or service fraternities and sororities. Students who are interested in joining a social fraternity or sorority are able to rush at neighboring Cornell
Greek life can be looked upon with a closed mindset by many college students and graduates that decided to not join the social movement that is brought upon by fraternities and sororities on college campuses. An article written by Caitlin Flanagan for The Atlantic Daily takes a negative turn toward Beta Theta Pi at Penn State University for many valid reasons such as: the reoccurring destruction of their 8.5 million dollar renovated home, their degrading hazing acts which involve a pledge catching bodily waste from a fraternity brother, the lack of compassion they have toward their fellow fraternity brothers, and the lack of authoritative action taken to prevent this from happening again. The Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Penn State
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated purpose is to be of service to all mankind dealing with critical issues in communities domestically and internationally. What I have grown to understand an envision a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to be, I accredit largely to the ladies of the Gamma Theta chapter. This has the result of attending many of the chapter’s events during my time at Hampton thus far. One of my favorite events was a screening of a documentary Girls Rising. I learned to appreciate every opportunity to learn and gain knowledge because in some parts of the world girls are restricted from receiving an education. A
Kappa Kappa Gamma extends to you a warm welcome as a new member of the Fraternity. You have joined an organization of women that has provided friendship and mutual support to hundreds of thousands of women throughout the world since our founding in 1870. Our members consistently raise the bar – pursuing excellence not only in their own life, but in the classroom, the boardroom
In April 2014, Fraternity Council placed Upsilon Chapter on a Warning of Probation for poor communication with the Fraternity, failure to follow Risk Management Procedures, and failure to follow previous requests to maintain Fraternity standards. This Warning of Probation was extended in April 2015 and again in February 2016.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the Nu Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. My desire to have the opportunity to become a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated is grounded on encounters, characteristics and the prestige purpose and history of the fraternity.
I believe that I have all the values that are required to be a member of Beta Theta Pi. I'm a trustworthy person and I had and will always be there for my brothers when in need and all my brothers truly have my back. I believe that it's my duty not just to be there for my brothers but also help resolving any issues in the chapter since everyone's acting represent the whole chapter. For me, academics is as important as any other activity and it helps us to be responsible and understand any ongoing campus issues and to resolve them. As of now, I haven't done any thing that made the chapter look bad and I promise be the same in the future too.
Decide who will ask questions and who will explain the committee’s concerns, etc. Role-play to anticipate the member’s possible reaction (e.g., apathy, defiance, denial, tears, silence, etc.).
Pursuing the dream of obtaining membership into the First Intercollegiate Greek Fraternity for African Americans, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. is one of very few ultimate goals in my life. An organization that was founded to stimulate the ambitions of its members and prepare them for great usefulness within the community has since become one of the most well respected organizations in America. Over one hundred years later, the pivotal movement in 1906 has spread to over the entire country in different collegiate chapters and cities across America and the impact has been tremendous. Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. was vaguely introduced to me as a child but it did not take effect until I started school at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
From a time when achievement was rare, and succeeding among minority was minuscule, a sense of order was needed. During this time Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated came into the world, bringing core values and achievement. Within the five objectives Kappa Alpha Psi showcases the distinction of itself from other fraternities. The founding fathers had the desire to shape a unique group personality different from the other greek letter college organizations, around the idea of achievement. When achievement was mainly concerned with improvement of personal status, security, and meeting the demands of everyday living the founders of the fraternity envisioned something bigger. Thus bringing about the Five Objectives that men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated live by and exemplify on a day to day basis showcasing Achievement in every field of human endeavor.
