The irony of this is their families are feuding so they cannot tell their own families that they are in love. The complexity of this situation heightens when on the day Romeo and Juliet get married; Romeo kills his new cousin Tybalt because Tybalt killed Romeo’s good friend Mercutio. Then Romeo is banished from Verona by the Prince and Romeo and Juliet can no longer be together. Now the county Paris goes to Mr. Capulet and asks him for his daughter’s hand in marriage and Mr. Capulet says, “Thursday let it be; - a Thursday, tell her, / She shall be married to this noble earl” (Act 3 Scene 4).
