The institution that I have decided to attend is the University of Central Florida. The main reason why I chose this school was because it will help me save money and I won’t need to travel anywhere to get my degree. Another big reason as to why I chose this school is because they have many great programs that will help me be better prepared when I begin my career such as their Modeling, Stimulation, and Training Epicenter which is used to prepare nursing students with different types of scenarios that they might face while working and also helps them work hands on rather than watching someone else do the job. UCF was also a good choice because their Medical Mission trips could help me and other nursing students travel to other places in the …show more content…
This program consists of different types of steps which I will need to begin at Valencia. To get in the Program I would need to first get accepted to UCF and have an overall GPA of a 3.0 leaving Valencia. I will also need to complete seven of the eight prerequisites that are required by the application deadline which are classes that I will need to take before transferring to UCF. The next step is very important and it is taking the TEAS Exam which I will need to pass with a 78 % or higher. The big step is applying to the Nursing Program early because many students end up applying late or towards the end and they are put on the waiting list which takes a long time to know whether you still have a chance or you will need to apply another time. All nursing students are also required to take a background test before the deadline and then they will need to complete some other requirements to get in the BSN Program. These requirements consist of the General Education Program which is the completion of the AA Degree, Meet the Foreign Language Admission Requirement and lastly complete the 8th Prerequisite with a passing grade before the program begins. The length of the that is needed for me to complete my degree at Valencia is 2-3 years. Which will leave me to graduate on April 2017. As soon as I have completed my AA Degree I will then transfer to UCF and get my BSN ( Bachelors in science of Nursing ) between 2-3
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be someone who helped others effortlessly. Whether it be in second grade helping a classmate up with freshly scuffed knees, or senior year helping a struggling classmate with a Calculus problem, I have wanted to be there to assist people. Throughout my eighteen years of life, I have learned that we all need to care for one another. When my brother passed away nine years ago, I had to be there for family and help make them strong again. This is why I want to pursue a career in Nursing. I want to help make people strong, help them persevere, and help them in their journey of life. My journey towards obtaining a Nursing degree will begin at Carlow University. My first step towards my goal is to achieve

Growing up with high expectations my mind has always been set on the idea of college. However when thinking of the “right” college for my future, I never knew If I would be able to fully commit and choose which one was best for me. I wanted something that would be comfortable for me that also meets my criteria that would make the college transition a bit easier. Since I’m going into something new, my decision would end up being based on the class sizes, the costs being affordable, the majors and degrees available for Nursing, and the location and how close it is to my family. It was a hard decision however one school had it all, which is why I’ve decided to further this chapter of my life at West Texas A&M University.
A day in the life as a CNA (Certified Nurse Aide) can have its ups and its downs. As a CNA you can work in a couple different areas of the nursing field, you have options of where you want to be and you are not finite to any certain place. Most CNA’s start out working in a nursing home then exude to other places such as hospitals. As a nurse aide you have many options of being in a certain field of nursing. That is what I love about nursing; it is versatile and you can work wherever you want in the country. You can travel and see places you haven’t seen while doing what you love to do as a career.
As of 2008, there were about 753,600 Licensed Practical Nurses and 2,618,700 Registered Nurses in the United States (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). In the year 2018, the LPN employment percentage is expected to rise 21% while the RN rate should be approximately 22% (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). This may not seem that high, but it is, when one considers that the expected employment rate for a Dentist is only expected to be 16% (U.S Department of Labor, 2010-11). Nursing is a highly respected and sought after career because every person that enters this profession is able to make a difference and is needed by the general population for his/her skills and contributions to the medical field. When a person is contemplating entering
Did you know that “...nursing is one of the fastest growing occupation in the U.S...by 2018 registered nurses will grow faster than any other occupation through 2018” (Nursinglink). My goal is to be part of this industry and knowing that nursing will be an important occupation by my graduation year is exciting. After comparing The University of Illinois, The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas A&M at Corpus Christi based on my criteria of tuition, admission rate, and distance from home, The University of Texas at Corpus Christi would be the best choice in helping me pursue a career in registered nurse.
Growing up, I always had the need for being useful and helping someone in my life.As I grew older I searched for careers that assists others, and there are numerous.I narrowed my interest down, and this was when I volunteered at the senior center.Being there with the elderly made me realize that I desired a career that involves helping the older population. At the senior center I got to interact with every person there, and grew a bond with them. They made me feel like my presents everyday was necessary to them, and made me want to be there no matter situation.I would help the them to the restroom and served them breakfast every morning, and clean up after the seniors at the end of the day.Of course I did simple task, but I was still helping the seniors,so I was pleased.
I knew I could be a nurse when I watched blood ooze from my brother’s face. His eyes dripping tears, and body shaking from being scared, he did not know what to do. I however, did not flinch once when I wiped the blood off his small face and hands. He was just two and I remember thinking how I had to fix him. I had to make sure his nose, his forehead, and the of side of his face was okay. I did not think twice about touching blood, or how his whole nose was black and blue. In that moment I was selfless. I chose nursing because I am capable of putting others before me. I am selfless enough to understand what it means to be a nurse, and have to be a mother, a daughter, and a whole family in a patient’s time of need. I am independent, and strong enough to deal with challenges and make the right decisions. In my soul I know I am meant to help people and fix their hurting and sadness. I chose being a nurse, because I am
Becoming a nurse has been my career goal for as long as I can remember. From the time I was old enough, I have had jobs ranging from food service and bagging groceries at the local market, to sales. All of these things provided monetary value to me, but none fulfilled my life enough to choose that as a career path. I have always wanted to have a profession that allows me to help and serve others and my present position as a Certified Nursing Assistant has shown me that becoming a nurse would allow me to do that.
From a very early age I have always looked upon Nursing with respect and have cherished the idea of working with different people, helping them and working as part of a team to make a difference. Nursing my father through terminal illness further heightened the passion I had in me to work with vulnerable people. This insight of misery at an early age gave me the effort to search for a career that passed on the direction to fulfil my dream job. I studied my BTEC LEVEL 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care which deepened my understanding in essentials of Science. I loved the units that concentrated on Physiology especially human regulation and reproduction system as I was captivated to identify how the body works.
Nursing has always been an idea lingering in the back of my mind for as long as I can remember. It has always been a career i've wanted to follow.
As a child, a nurse wearing a white uniform and a doctor wearing white coat fascinated me. My cousin was a nurse and often when I visited her, I felt a force pulling me or attracting me to that white uniform. Never realized until I became a nurse that it was not a dream, I was destined to be a nurse. Today we call Florence Nightingale pioneer of nursing and Mother Teresa the epitome of love and compassion (, 2010, p. 1). These women choose to do what was in their heart, the passion to serve the hungry and needy, sick and poor, leper and beggar, weak and in street, embracing them with love and thus showing a unique example for people like me to follow. In India years ago nursing was considered very cheap profession
When I first started this type of career I wouldn’t have been able to give you an answer of why I wanted to be a nurse. I was 15 when I worked for a research institute. I set up cadavers, parts of the body or wholes ones, for doctors to practice new surgeries with microscopes. Then afterwards I would have to clean up the tattered tissue and bone from the limbs that were left. Dumped buckets of “juices” which was water filtered through the arteries that would mix with fat. Even though I can stomach the smell of burnt flesh, body fluids, and the open wounds that come with the job. I didn’t care for people in general. I don’t care for drug seekers, complainers, confused people, let alone repeating myself multiple times.
When I was younger, I remember our teachers asking us what we wanted to be when we grew up, so I would respond that I wanted to be a nurse. Becoming a nurse was always my goal for my future self. During my Sophomore year of high school, we were given the choice of different college dual credit classes, one being LVN. When I realized that I had this choice to join a program that would benefit me in achieving my childhood goal and would help me advance in that career, I immediately accepted. I am currenting finishing my last few months for LVN, but once I’m done, I will become a member in the medical field.
