While working as a Peace Corps Volunteer, I met two independent mothers, Rosangela and Rebecca. They were caught in the vicious cycle o struggling to make ends meet. They knew I was in the community offering free business planning services and they contacted me. They hoped one day they would become business owners. They aspired to own a carnitas food and where they would sell to tourists in Puntarenas. Together, we developed a business plan; set goals, and started to work on a credit application through my counterpart, FINCA (Fundacion Integral Campesina), a small micro-institution that offers loans to micro-business entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, we had food sales and sold raffle tickets to start financing this new venture. One of my proudest moments was when they were able to purchase a grill. Rosangela said smiling, “While the cart is …show more content…
For the past year, I have worked with the United States Peace Corps in Costa Rica. There, I have used my evolving education and work experience to improve and develop the community of Barranca, Puntarenas. Working and living in an international setting in countries such as Mexico, U.S., and Costa Rica has broadened my experience with U.S. – Latin American business organizations. Cross-cultural, resilience and strategic thinking have been important skills I have acquired and developed through these rich multicultural experiences. Thus, my acculturation toil and understanding in Western Hemisphere business will provide a broad scope in the assorted classes and teams I entail. Contributing to viewpoints that will enrich business scheme perspectives and ideas. This will convey an approach in the dynamics of global business. I look forward to this opportunity. This will broaden my classmates’ international perception and provide the glimmer of hope that might bring the next business
To begin with, Charlotte and Herrin were successful entrepreneurs. Charlotte had nothing when her friend gave her four litters of milk. However, Charlotte used the milk to start her business: she sold the milk and earned $3. Then she took a $50 loan to buy more milk. She worked hard until she opened a small cafe. After a while, she bought a share restaurant, and the restaurant was successful; it served more than 250 meals a day. In addition to the restaurant, she rented out chairs for events. Finally, she owned most part of the building, and became successful. Similarly, Jessica Herrin had nothing when she began weddingchannal.com in 2014. Herrin worked day and

The Civilian Conservation Corps was needed in my state because the economy was collapsing in on itself much like everywhere else. The amount of unemployment rose and and the amount of tourism plummeted. There were several natural disaster including two hurricanes and an insect infestation. The hurricanes wreaked havoc on the people of Florida that were already scraping as it was. One caused a flood of Lake Okeechobee which killed nearly 2000 people.
While reading and evaluating Of Mice and Men (1937) by the famed novelist John Steinbeck, the several relationships in the story reveal both true, authentic friendship, as well as the opposite, sad, desperate degrees of loneliness and plummeting isolation. Similar to the people that we come across in our lives, a handful of the characters in Of Mice and Men portray false faces of contentment, yet in actuality, they are alone and caught feeling stuck and empty on the inside. On the other hand, there are numerous representations of sincere friendships that seem as if they could last a lifetime. There are also episodes of different characters being vulnerable and straightforward with each other in a frantic attempt to have someone
Everyday when I walk into work, I put on my pale blue shirt, the one that my coworkers and I constantly complain about, with pride and with a coffee in my hand. I know I have eight long hours ahead of me, and my feet will hurt by the end of the day from the constant walking back and forth, and there is a chance I make some person incredibly upset. Regardless of being cognizant of issues that may arise, I am incredibly content at work, and especially optimistic that I will assist at least someone (even if it is just unfortunately informing them we can only provide resources, rather than assisting). Whenever someone asks what exactly my work is I say, as I was taught, “it is the domestic version of the Peace Corps, and I’m also only in a courthouse.” This does not help many people understand my job requirement, as they just imagine me helping the prosecution, but what I do helps a lot more people than assisting a prosecutor.
First, persistence is essential for success. She demonstrated how often you will be turned away or rejected when starting a business but it’s important to keep going. There were many times she could have decided it was too much work or too hard. But instead, she continue to promote her idea and kept pursuing individuals to help her reach her goal. From reading about her success, it was clear she worked extremely hard to get where she is today and it came from a lot persistence.
My father, at this time, thought it would be a good idea, to quit his job as an accountant and start his own entrepreneurship business. Unbeknownst to my mother, he bought a building for this business, with all of their savings. With four children at home, and a husband without a paying job, LaDonna Dey cried a little, and pulled herself back
Essay #1, I really highlight my experience as an EMT to show how it would help me as a volunteer overcome any challenges i may face (327):
In a global economy, U.S. companies are becoming more diverse, whether through a global customer base, or through acquisition of other companies based outside of the U.S. With these developments the workplace becomes an amalgamation of individuals with different worldviews. These differences are the result of different educational backgrounds, and cultural norms. Though there are sometimes impediments that are created due to a conflict in viewpoints, overwhelmingly the benefits from the variety of perspectives outweighs any of the detriments. This view is not only one held by me personally, but one that most quality managers of successful international companies hold true as well. My interview with my direct manager, Dianna Ulrich-Hope, proved valuable in confirming my notions. As a Director of Pricing at Micro Focus, a global software company, her insights regarding international collaboration amongst professionals helped see how my cultural agility competencies align, and how to leverage them.

I decided to partner with Juan Lopera to establish a business based on selling empanadas. The idea was to call the business Sazón Hispano (Hispanic Seasoning). Him and I knew each other before the course, and decided to partner because we knew when it came to making a business, we wanted to bring part of our culture to the Clark Community. The reason why we chose empanadas is because we noticed it was a product that was not only shared between the Dominican Republic (my country) and Colombia (his country), but also between most Latin American countries. This way, we not only serve Latinos but also people outside of the culture that want to taste a bit of our culture.
Growing up with very little money, I realized at a young age how vital it is for families, and communities as a whole to come together to help one another. Without the support of many people, I personally would not be where I am today, a senior in college with the world at my feet. To know this, is to know how important it is to help others, whether that means through small daily acts, or in large ways, such as this experience would be. While I would like to say that joining the Peace Corps is for all altruistic reasons, it is not. To have this experience would broaden my knowledge of the world around me, and strengthen my ability to be empathetic as a Psychologist in the future.
Time revealed my passion to serve the underserved. Time also revealed my aspiration to globally leverage my analytical reasoning and empathetic intelligence through International Business. I trust that with time I will notably impact the human race. By studying International Business I may compete on a multinational level to revive the global business standard. With proper preparation and development I will redefine overseas production to satisfy consumerism, without violating human rights and welfare.
