When I received my application packet to the National Honor Society, my first thought was, “Why me? I’m nothing special.” What changed my mind was looking at the application and, more specifically, the requirements for membership and thinking, “Hey that applies to me!” The prestigious National Honor Society is well – known for its high standards of entry. Not just a 3.8 GPA, but demanding more from its applicants. It not only demands that they have intelligence, but morals, good character, perseverance, and a track record of service to others to back it up. And while I have a 4.1 GPA to meet the Scholarship requirements, I think that what is most important is my leadership experience and capabilities and my spirit of service to others. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in the MCJROTC Raider Battalion. This program has greatly developed my leadership abilities and my ability to use leadership to benefit the whole unit instead of just myself. This is where JROTC really made me a better leader – it honed my ability to lead as part of a team. This year, I am the …show more content…
I want the best for this organization and all people involved in it, and I really believe with the entirety of my being that I can help benefit the North Forsyth Chapter of the National Honor Society as a whole. I have extensive leadership experience with high schoolers and I actively take part in a youth group that goes above and beyond to assist those in need and build a stronger community around us. If there is one thing I hope that people remember about me – even after something so near as graduation – it is not my presentations, not my 4.1 GPA, but my character, my service, my trying to make life better for those around me. I hope that people, I hope that the National Honor Society remembers my humanity, because that is what defines
It is a great honor to be among the commendable students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is discernible for showing an interest in students with exemplary grades, great character, leadership, and service. Last year I was enrolled in a tenth grade honors language class, this year I am taking an advanced placement college course. I am enlisted in all honors classes and I strive to do the best that I can not only academically, but in all activities I participate in. I am a strenuous worker and have great character. Everything I try, I give all my effort, for example, in track I show good sportsmanship and cheer on my fellow athletes at every meet. I also show great leadership qualities.
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” Helen Keller. When reading the first page of the National Honor Society Application the words in scholarship, leadership, service, and character captured my attention. I then noticed that these 4 things were crucial to the program and I became highly intrigued in membership. Although the membership of the program may be pleasing to the eye of the college administrator, it seems to contain substantial scholar material.
After getting the option to apply for a membership position in the National Honor Society making the decision to follow through with the application process was a simple one. The plethora of advantages the membership would provide for my education, community and character seemed well worth all that was required in the application process. The four pillars scholarship, leadership, character and service are what makes the members and the organization so successful. Scholarship, the academic study or achievement and the first of the four core values of NHS. Throughout my years so far in high school I have done my best to achieve proficient grades in all my classes.
The National Honor Society is a group whose members are known for their academic accomplishments, leadership, and integrity. This group is greatly prestigious and I am honored to be invited to apply. This group also contributes a great deal towards the community, which is something that I am interested in doing more of. Until now, I have not gone out of my way to do much service and being in this group, I would have a higher motivation to do so. I would like to experience more giving to the community because whenever I have helped others, I felt satisfactory and valuable afterward. This society would be an excellent opportunity to be a bigger part of the community.
I believe I will be a good member of the National Honor Society because I am a hard worker, honest, and committed to everything I do. Being inducted into the National Honor Society will make me more confident in myself and what I do. What I want most out of National Honor Society is to learn how to lead by example. I firmly believe that an organization like the National Honor Society fully exemplifies the ideals of hard work, leadership, servitude, character and success on which I have been raised live by, and requires them from its members. The National Honor Society is a group of kids that excel; they work with the community to improve the community and their abilities simultaneously. I believe that I would be a fantastic addition to Lynden’s Nation Honor Society Chapter because I exemplify the four points of the National Honor Society scholarship, service, leadership, and character. One of my strongest points is scholarship. The reason that I show scholarship is because I am willing to work very hard at everything that I do. When I was a kid, I did terrible in school, my grades were bad and I was heavily tutored during and after classes.
Along the journey to be able to partake in National Honor Society I feel I would gain life skills and have the opportunity to begin networking with other accomplished student leaders who are focused on personal growth and building a solid foundation
The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. Having previously held a officer role in the National Junior Honor Society I have gained experience
The National Honor Society has very specific goals they would like to achieve. These include creating excitement for academia, stimulating a desire for citizen service, building leadership skills, and developing character in students. These goals seem overwhelming at first, but upon deeper thought I discovered I possess many traits to help achieve these goals.
To be a member of the National Honor Society is a great award and achievement and it means you have worked hard and achieved in school as well as volunteered and been involved in both the school and outside community. However, once you are a member it doesn't mean you can halt all your work and coast through the rest of your high school years. You must continue to work at good grades and more importantly you need to keep working on ways to benefit our school and outside community. You need to be generous with your time and ingenious with your ideas in order to create a lasting impact. If accepted into the national honors society, I plan on contributing to that lasting impact with my previous experiences with volunteering and leading others, as well as my dedication to the society and the moral code it upholds.
Being in National Honors Society is something that I have always wanted to be apart of since I was in primary school.
