Im sure that plenty of people in this room and in this school play sports. One of the sports that I play is lacrosse. In lacrosse one of the most important parts of your equipment is your stick. I will explain how somebody going into the sport should decide how to make their stick. To first start off on stringing or getting a lacrosse stick strung you need to determine what type of lacrosse head you need for your position. Usually for attack or midi, the best type of head to use would be a moderately thin head so that the ball stays in the stick. I say usually because for midfield, if you take the face offs you should have a very thin head so that you are able to pinch the ball. If you are playing a defensive position then it would be …show more content…
For players there are two types of shafts, short and long poles. If you are defence you need to have a long pole so that you are able to reach players that would be out of a normal players boundaries. For an outfield player you need to have a short pole so that you can shoot and pass without restrictions. In short shafts it is always better to have a lighter shaft so that you can move the stick faster. Once you have the main body of the stick, the next step is to choose the type of stringing that you want to have. There are two choices that you can pick from, traditional or mesh. Their is a third “category” but i am disincluding that because it is a cross between the two and is very uncommon and hard to make correctly. If you have all of your decisions set in stone you can move on to materials and your pocket. For a traditional stick you need to buy 4 leathers, cross string, and sidewall. For a mesh stick it is a little bit simpler. All you need is mesh, top string, and sidewall. You can get all these materials at a local sports store, such as comlax or monkey sports. Once you have all the materials you can either have somebody string it for you, or if you know how to string it you can do it yourself. But just remember you need to specify which type of pocket you want. Mid, low or high. Their is no real difference between them it is just
Set up your rod the same as if you were fishing yarn or bait; float, weight, leader and spinner . Cast slightly up stream and allow your lure to reach bottom. Reel in any slack line, then when your float is directly across from you, free spool and allow your float to freely float down river . Your weight should be fished so you feel the river bottom every 3 feet or so, and presentation should be Dead Drift. It is important that your float is drifting at the same speed as the current.
The wooden sticks were artfully hand-carved from hickory. The stick's length measured about 48 inches. The modern sticks are made from plastic and other materials approved by the ILF (International Lacrosse Federation). Yet there are players who still prefer traditional equipment. Iroquois artisans like Alf Jacques make traditional wooden sticks for those players.

Learning how to restring your own tennis racket can save avid tennis plays an immense amount of time and money. It is important for competitive players to understand how their racket is constructed and be sure that their racket is properly strung. These are basic instructions for stringing a racket (not specific to a particular racket). To find specific information pertaining to a particular racket you can visit: https://www.klipperusa.com/stringing/viewpattern.php?mfg=TWIL which contains the specific tensions, lengths, patterns, holes to skip, and holes to tie off. I will use two parts to explain in simple terms how to restring
Lacrosse was challenged for decorations in the 1904 and 1908 Olympics with groups from Canada, the United States, and Great Britain. It was challenged as a show sport in the 1928 and 1932 Olympics. On every event, a playoff was held in the United States to figure out what group would go to the Olympics; every time the playoffs were won by the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays of the college in Baltimore, Maryland.Richmond Hill "Youthful Canadians" lacrosse group, 1885.
Lacrosse is the oldest team sport in North America, having been played by Native American tribes long before any European had even set foot on the continent. A century after European missionaries discovered the game played by Native Americans, they began to play it themselves, starting in the 18th century. From there, it evolved and grew in popularity from a very savage game that resembled war, into what it is today, a recreational sport played widely in America and other countries. As U.S. Lacrosse literature aptly puts it "Lacrosse is a game born of the North American Indian, christened by the French, adopted and raised by the Canadians, and later dominated by the Americans.”
Both Lacrosse and Ice hockey are two sports that share similar aspects. One example would be that they both require plenty of athletic prowess, as well as countless hours of training and practice to master. The high amount of contact in both sports enables a player to become both physically and mentally "tough". Lacrosse has grown to its highest level of popularity it has ever reached over the last ten years. Ice hockey has seen a steady climb in its popularity over the past 25 years making it one of the most popular sports in not only Long Island, but all across the U.S. However, there are many differences as well, and we should not overlook the fact that there are plenty of distinctions between the two
This is because; you do not want to feel whippy about the putter. Above all, as a beginner, go for a putter that you can control, that is a lighter one. The orientation of the ball is directly affected by the weight of the putter. Therefore, selecting a light putter will help you learn the putting

Similar to sponges, blades can control dwell time and rebound on the paddle. They also affect the consistency and speed of your strokes. Blades are required to be 85% wood but the materials can still vary, causing many different effects. There are many types of wood that have different attributes such as softness and springiness. Besides wood, many synthetic materials have been used in ping pong paddles, including aralyte, zylon, and most popularly, carbon. These materials can cause differences in spinning, receiving, and attacking the ball. The weight and shape of the blade much also be held into consideration. Lighter materials and more aerodynamic shapes can increase the speed of your swing dramatically but heavier materials can increase the impact against the ball by utilizing gravity. Most of these materials are limited to professional paddles while recreational paddles are stuck with cheap pine lumber. Also to be considered is the thickness of the blade. The blade is created using pressure to bind many sheets of material in a process not unlike producing plywood. Professional blades can have as little as five ply to as many as thirteen ply. Recreation blades, on the other hand, commonly have three ply which gives the paddle barely any weight and leaves it prone to breakage. Professional blades can heighten the players’ ability to perform certain techniques based on specification whereas recreational paddles do not enable the players to perform the same
The pieces you will need to cut are the stringer and the ribs. The stringer is like the backbone of the entire board. Cutting out you stringer can be done in many ways. You can create a computer file and CNC it out, which is by far the easiest option. If, however, you have a bit more grit, you may choose to cut it out yourself using a bandsaw. BE WARNED, you must have a completely smooth and even bottom side of your stringer or the board will not turn out level. Once the stringer is cut out it’s time to focus on the ribs, these will be the supporting structure of the board as well as the basic shape profile of the finished board. Plot out the length and spacing of each rib so the board doesn’t jut in or out along the side; you want to make sure the curve follows a smooth
