Several wars, violence, and attacks. Now today, while united as one, we have hope for the future of this nation.
There have been a lot of wars and conflict in the past. According to History.com, The American revolutionary war was a war between Great Britain’s thirteen colonies and colonial government. It was the war of that declared independence as the United States of America. The civil war, after the civil war, it was no use for fighting. Riots are one of many things that have been a major problem in the United States. There have been many gun violence’s in the past decade; DAPL has had a lot of violence against the American people. The DAPL protest shows the rest of the world that if you can stick together and not give up, there is always hope to come. You can fight back, not in violence, but in peace. There is always hope to overcome and conquer violence. Attacks on have slowly decreased through the years. In the beginning of the 21st century, there have been many attacks on the U.S alone. 9/11 has most affected us because it was the biggest terrorist attack in history against the U.S. Gun problems have been a major problem all over the world. According to, gunviolencearchive.org, There has been more than 50 thousand incidents with gun violence. Whether it is a gun problem or an attack, we all still have hope for the future of this nation and hope history does not repeat
School shootings, gang violence, drive by shootings, murder, and thousands of acts of violence are committed every day. Members of our society criticize their own people for this violence while they continue to sit back and do nothing about it. These acts of violence have many contributing factors. Violence in our country today is escalating because we don't control the distribution of the guns sold. There are not enough restrictions on guns sold legally. The illegal purchase of guns through the black market is out of control. There is not enough education on the usage and storage of guns.
There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. Around 60% of these crimes are gang related. In discussion of gun violence, a controversial issue is whether gun related crimes are blamed on the person who owned the gun or by the illegal gun purchase. While some people believe gun violence should be blamed on the people that cause the violence, others contend that gun violence should be blamed on the way people receive their gun. When I was younger and uninformed, I thought gun purchases are effective and legal. I failed to notice that guns the purchase of the gun itself is being conducted informally, which leads to people also trading their guns illegally. Between informal gun purchases and illegal gun trading, this also leads to gang related gun violence.
Sandy Hook Elementary, Charleston, Umpqua Community College, and Virginia Tech. These names spark fear into those who have witnessed the outrage of Gun Violence in America. Nearly Eighty people die of gun-related deaths each day. It is true that stricter gun laws would not have abolished these incidents, but there is a high chance that stricter measures could have prevented a majority of these incidents, and minimized the number of casualties involved. The culture of violence in America has gotten out of control, therefore the Second Amendment should be repealed.
I used to live in a small province where there is a low percentage of crimes. Back then, I did not have much idea about gun violence. Technology has no improvement and as a result, we did not have much access to the internet because it is always slow. When I moved here in Canada it gave me a more wider perspective about gun violence, as well it made me more realize what really is it. I chose this topic of how school gun violence affects the students in the U.S. psychologically because unfortunately, it's been happening for how many years now and I was a direct witness of one incident.
The article, “The Role of the Health and Mental Health Care Providers in Gun Violence Prevention”, utilizes several studies to argue that health and mental health care providers may play a critical role in preventing firearm related injuries. Williamson, Guerra, and Tynan discuss the benefits of using regular wellness checks to teach parents how to prevent access to guns by children and to identify other risk factors during routine visits. Discussed in the article are factors for both firearm related homicides and suicides. The statistics provided are from reputable sources such as the Center for Disease Control. Gun violence prevention programs already implemented across the nation are discussed as well and their successes analyzed.
Over the last years gun control has become a very widely debated topic. The city, county and state lawmakers seem to be having different stands about the public having easy access to guns. Adam Small states, “After centuries of relative obscurity, the Second Amendment has become the center of an intense academic and legal battle during the last twenty years” (1213). The supporters of gun control and its opponents both claim to have the best interest of this country’s citizens .However, there are private citizens who believe that there should be laws to limit the number of people who own a gun. Even though the United States has enacted laws for regulating firearms, the recent shootings at Aurora movie theatre and Sandy
People all across the world are debating about whether to require the start of reducing gun violence. Guns have always been a part of American culture, even before we became the America we know today. In colonial times and the days of the Wild West, guns were an essential part of survival. They were needed to kill animals for food and to protect against unwanted trespassers and predators. However, in these modern times, because we have conveniences such as Hannaford and organized police systems, guns have gone from tools of necessity to novelty toys. For the most part, people own guns in this century for sporting reasons or to protect their families and home from intrusion. The simplicity of a gun and the lack of effort it requires owning
The debate between gun control and gun rights is one topic that can affect all culture and lifestyle implications. It goes beyond just the notion of "I like guns vs. guns are dangerous." Some of the main arguments for and against gun control and gun rights are that Gun are dangerous to those who have some sort of mental disorder vs gun are to protect and service this nation. Which will of course bring up arguments for more restrictive gun laws. As society continues to diversify and human beings become more independent, we drift further apart from understanding each other. The gun control conflict is not directly affected by this, but psychologically human fear what we don 't understand. In a society with hundreds of cultures, differences and arguments can arise out of nothing. Words are one thing but the use of firearms is an entirely different topic. With less restrictive laws on purchasing and ownership a seemingly pointless feud could intensify into murder. Guns give a man power, with power inevitably becomes abuse.
Gun violence is a problem in every nation. Where I came from gun violence is a major problem. I came from Afghanistan where events such as; people shooting each other, people shooting at a crowd and killing tens and hundreds of people happens quite usually. But one incident that stuck with me to this day is the suicide of a young boy near my middle school. When I was around 9 or 10 years old I remember the day one of my friend's relative's committed suicide using his father’s gun. It was the end of a school day, the street and the area in front of his house were packed with people and cars. The police car and the ambulance, both were parked in front of his house. The sound of people shouting, his mom and his sisters screaming, and the
In 2015, 13,367 people lost their lives due to gun violence according to Gun Violence Archive. The Archive also states that out of that number, 693 were children from ages 0-11. We can all agree that there is indeed a problem that we have to address. The solution to that problem, however, has been debated by many. I believe the solution to this problem exists in three parts: Mandatory training and licensing along with more heavily secure gun storage, stricter regulations on the purchasing of a firearm—disabilities and criminal records should be more deeply looked into before transaction—and finally, equipping teachers at highs schools with the right kind of weaponry to prevent mass shootings.
In the African American community, 83 percent of homicides are due to gun violence. In black communities gun violence is commonly misunderstood as gang affiliation, which is false. Studies show over 50 percent of gun crimes committed were not related to a felony, but were due to some disagreement. The gun epidemic in predominantly black communities aren’t just disagreements, but race wars, police brutality, gang related, and even no reason at all.
Despite our whereabouts everyone main concern is gun violence; there is always an argument concerning guns. Should be mandated or not? Is it life or death situation or plain old homicide? With that question being asked by Americans nationwide, should students be allowed to carry guns or campus? Or should we fear that they all will use it for all the wrong reasons intended?
Everyday 93 Americans are killed by guns. Whether it is due to homicide or suicide, it does not matter. At the end of the day gun violence is increasing exponentially. In numerous states, gun laws have been placed in the hopes of reducing gun violence. But now many people believe that gun violence should be treated as a public health problem. I for one feel that gun violence should be put in the category of public health. Every year more than 30,000 people are victims to gun related incidents. It has become such an issue that gun violence is causing more deaths than some life threatening diseases.
Teenage gun violence is on the rise. Gun violence has become a major problem for America. We have more privately owned guns than any other country. This could be one of the reasons that guns are being used by teens, because of the access they have to guns. The availability of guns to our youth is making the world unsafe. Although lawmakers are working on gun control laws, I wonder is the problem too far gone.
Throughout the years, gun violence is increasing dramatically. Mass Shootings are becoming more frequent, suicides are now mostly caused by a gun to the head, and crimes are being involved with guns. Somehow minors and criminals are gaining firearms. The government isn’t telling us the real story. They claim that they have very strict laws, well it turns out they don’t. There are so many things that the government hides from the public’s eye. Criminals get their way (hiding from the government) and they gain access to guns of their choosing. From pistols to machine guns, to rocket launchers. In this essay, I will explain to you how criminals are getting their way, causing so much gun violence across the United States, and how the government is doing nothing about this.
