In Equestria where one young human male named James was able to be himself and truly felt as though he belonged after such a long journey this is his story.
It all started on a slow dreadful day on earth in a different dimension where a young man got dressed and grabbed his rifle and ran out of his barracks to begin his first day of active duty in his military practice drills in a far off country
Campbell describes in detail each stage of the archetypal Hero's Journey, reiterating at several points that the archetype has both a clear basis and a clear echo in the actual living existence of each human being. These spiritual echoes are awakened by metaphor, the various uses of which Campbell also describes in detail. The ultimate purpose of both myth and metaphor, Campbell maintains, is to awaken in each individual human being an awareness of the spiritual aspect of life. This awakening, Campbell maintains, is the first step in the necessary journey away from resistance to the various inevitable physical and spiritual truths associated with being human (i.e., death and suffering) and toward an embracing of them as part of the universal
Jonas goes through the 3 steps of the departure stage in the Hero’s Journey archetype. On page 76 it says, “‘Jonas has been selected to be our next Receiver of Memory.” The second step, refusal of the call, is when Jonas is selected and he is very afraid because he did not know what the selection meant. On page 81 it says, “But at the same time he was filled with fear.

Becoming a Man When the word hero is brought up, names such as Harry Potter or Katniss Everdeen probably come to mind. While Harry and Katniss might seem like absolutely different people, but they do have one thing in common. All heroes follow a pattern called the hero's journey. The hero's journey is a common cycle that most protagonists follow.
“With the personifications of his destiny to guide and aid him, the hero goes forward in his adventure until he comes to the ‘threshold guardian’ at the entrance to the zone of magnified power”. Thus wrote the mythologist Joseph Campbell on the hero’s departure from his home as he ventures into the world of the unknown where he will encounter many challenges. Owing to its form as a nostos, Homer’s Odyssey (trans. Shrewing) conforms to the obverse of this mythological paradigm postulated by Campbell. The challenge for Odysseus is to return, not to his native land of Ithaca, but to the mortal realm away from his heroic past. No scene other than the trial of the marriage bed within Book XXIII more potently illuminates this. For Odysseus’ journey
The archetype of the Hero’s Journey holds a prevalent pattern in the works of “Initiation” by Sylvia Plath, “A & P” by John Updike, and “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker. These works all follow the 17 stages of Joseph Campbell’s Monomyth which are separated in three stages; separation, initiation, and return. The main characters have different characterizations; however, they all follow the basic structure of the Hero’s journey archetype. There are many similarities and differences between the stages that are shown through many context clues and literary devices in each work. The Hero’s Journey archetype expressed in these literary works follow a similar and direct narrative pattern.

The Journey of Epic Heroes Every epic hero is the personification of goodness and strength. Similar to Odysseus in The Odyssey and the Iliad, he is fighting for his people and for good. In the modern era they are mainly characters with crazy powers and stories.
What images come to mind as you reflect on your childhood? Playgrounds, blackboards, and soccer balls may be among the warmest of memories. Yet for many mermaids swim their thoughts, princesses get swept of their feet, and lions roar to their loyal place in the animal kingdom. There is no doubt that today’s entertainment has most of its touch using classical influences. Walt Disney has produced animated films that have captured the heart and imagination of audiences of all ages around the world through the magic of storytelling and imagery. The third stage of the hero’s journey is supernatural aid. Once the hero/heroine is committed to the quest his guide and magical helper appears or becomes known. This supernatural mentor will present the hero with one or more talismans or artifacts that will aid him later in his quest. In The Stranger Meursault supernatural aid could be Marie because she guides him in some ways. Like convincing Meursault into to get married and to live together. If it wasn’t for her he would not have thought of doing these things. In 1984 Winston is not guided by one person in particular but by society. In the beginning Winston and Julia’s relationship depend upon their meeting in Victory Square. In Into the Wild Jack London could be his guide because Christopher
The introduction of an epic hero through a person relatable to the vast majority of people could change the way society approaches current issues. Epic heroes embark on journeys, whether mental or physical, in which they learn an important lesson. In returning to the “known world”, the hero has been enlightened and has received a gift for their change. A person who experiences the epic journey and returns enlightened could then share their experience and new knowledge and thus impact society’s way of thinking. In James Dickey’s Deliverance, for example, Lewis and Ed must learn to accept the fact that death is inevitable.
What is a hero? What qualities does he or she have? In our modern lives when we think of a hero we think of nurses and soldiers, but according to the American Heritage Dictionary, a hero in mythology and legend is a man or woman, often of divine ancestry, who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and favored by the gods. A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.
The Hero’s journey, or in its more correct terminology the Monomyth is an object from the area of comparative mythology. Its definition in the most basic of forms, it is a pattern or outline that is used in storytelling, usually the myth. This pattern is found in many famous pieces from all around the world. In the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces from 1949 by author Joseph Campbell, this pattern is described in detail. Campbell describes that numerous myths from different times and areas of the world seem to share an identical structure in their storytelling. He summarized this with a well-known quote found at the intro of his book:
In a world where magical creatures run while, and evil could be around any corner, fight for justice! In “Hero Quest” you’ll play as a magical whose goal is to rid the land of evil, and to bring peace to the land. Ever since your avatar was little, she has admired heroes along with anyone who fought for what was right. They had always seemed to be so brave and cool, so she strived to be like them! She decided to set off on a journey to become stronger, and to become one of the heroes she had loved so much. The land she had lived in was usually fairly calm and peaceful. Though that was true, it wasn’t completely without evildoers. No matter how small the bad deed, and end had to be put to them. Petty thieves and foul mannered creatures could
