Dear councilmen of tallahassee please imagine,
Young Jack McBride in the middle of a library ,with a rash on his face and gasping for breath. He gasped out “ I need an epipen “ The adults in the room had no allergies and no one owned an epipen . They called 911, but in that time 7 year old Jack McBride had already died. 50 million people in the United States are affected by allergies today .According to asthma and allergy foundation “30% of adults and 40% of children are affected as well.” An epipen is used to treat severe allergic reactions to insect stings , bites, foods, drugs, and other allergens. I urge you to place and epi pen in every public building because we need epipens in first aid kits to save lives and it relieves the financial burden of families . Although many people say the cost is too high to place an epipen in every medical kit , ask them is the cost of human life , more important than the cost of an epipen? Which leads into my first contention .

According to the Washington post “Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room.” Epipens in public buildings that number can drop dramatically .If we have the chance to minimize deaths ,why are we not jumping at this opportunity ? Also in accordance to the WP“ Studies show that food allergies among children have jumped 50 percent in the past decade. This potentially life-threatening condition now affects 1 in 13 children under the age of 18.”that is approximately 8 children per 100 kids . With children being the future of our world ,we must do anything in our hands to help them succeed
We also need to ensure that every child has opportunities to develop and thrive, which are as good as those experienced by others. We can provide activities
The Epipen auto-injector is a self administered epinephrine injection used for emergency management of anaphylactic reactions. This can be used in response to allergic reactions caused by allergens such as beestings, pollen, peanuts or, exercise, or other unknown triggers. The drug is primarily acts by narrowing blood vessels and opening the airways in patient’s experiencing severe allergic reactions reversing severe symptoms like sever hypotension, wheezing, sever skin itching and/or hives.
There are absolutely know differences between adrenaline and epinephrine. Epinephrine is basically a synthetic type of adrenaline. Moreover, the description of how epinephrine works is explained by the EpiPen website as, “It constricts blood vessels to increase blood pressure, relaxes smooth muscles in the lungs to reduce wheezing and improve breathing, stimulates the heart (increases heart rate) and works to reduce hives and swelling that may occur around the face and lips.” Because of this injection of adrenaline a person’s heart beats faster and their breath intake increases. As a result, an extreme energy boost occurs and therefore stopping the anaphylaxis attack, saving a
There are many allergic reactions that can occur from a single allergen. One reaction that stands above the rest is called anaphylaxis. Like any other reactions, anaphylaxis can occur from food, drugs, bites, or stings. If symptoms persist, death is possible from lack of air or cardiac arrest. Victims with high chances of having anaphylaxis carry a device that injects adrenaline, also medically known as epinephrine, which is the primary treatment for anaphylaxis. Epinephrine, or the Epipen is going to be the main topic of discussion for today. I am going to cover three parts: the history of the Epipen, the function of the device, and the impact that it has on society.
EpiPens are arguably one of the most important devices for those to carry who suffer from life-threatening allergies. The auto-injector pen contains the drug epinephrine, which treats an allergic reaction, anaphylactic shock, in emergency cases. Recently, there has been an uproar among the public about the increasing prices of Mylan’s EpiPens. In 2007, the products cost was around $100.00 for a two-pack of pens. Now, however, the name brand is selling for over $600.00 a pair; resulting, in a 400% price increase. Different companies are now creating similar products in hopes of being more affordable and as efficient as the original EpiPen. Mylan Pharmaceuticals is even creating their own version of an authorized generic form of the EpiPen as well. In the first article, “Mylan Tries Again to Quell Pricing Outrage by Offering Generic Epipen,” by Andrew Pollack, focuses on just Mylan 's version of their EpiPen along with their increasing prices. The second article, “Can You Get a Cheaper EpiPen,” by Ginger Skinner, emphasizes on not only Mylan 's’ product, but also other generic products as well as a do-it-yourself. Both of these articles focus around the idea of an affordable, effective, and accessible off brand version of the EpiPen while also providing important side information about all of the products and risks; however, the second article offers more information about different generic products rather than just

They did an ultrasound while I was still inside my mother when she was seven months pregnant. The doctors were able to tell that my heart had developed a single pumping chamber and my aorta was smaller than my lung arteries. They knew that I would need an operation called the Norwood procedure. Since the aorta was small as was the left ventricle, the right ventricle had to do all the work of pumping the blood to the lungs and through the ductus arteriosus to the rest of the body.
The EpiPen company started in 1987 when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved it. In 2006 the EpiPen was developed and sold at a reasonable price until Mylan took over. “The EpiPen changed hands several times, eventually landing at the now-vilified pharmaceutical company Mylan in 2007” (Rimler). After Mylan Company finally had control of the EpiPen, which she bought $34.50 per pen, aimed at getting schools to stock
An epi-pen is typically used when a person has an allergic reaction to a substance or material. An Epi-Pen contains a drug known as epinephrine. Epinephrine is a synthetic version of adrenaline. Allergies stresses the body, consecutively, impeding the person to breath. With adrenaline from the epinephrine the body will have a burst of energy helping the body to process everything rapidly and making the person able to breathe again. In the text “How 12 EpiPens Saves My Life” the author Ali Jafee establishes common ground, uses real life occurrence to establish credibility and appeals to the audience emotions through her ongoing encounters with the Epi-pen for the purpose of delivering a message of how essential epinephrine is for those who have allergies.
If the world says that kids are the future of the world then why not help them fight through whatever is going on with their life before it's too late. Researches have found that the kid's brain is having a hard time developing and in some cases that's the reason why kids couldn't make proper
Have you ever thought about doing drugs? If so you're not the first, but you probably didn't think about how it could affect you and your life. In 2016 63,600 people didn’t think of the consequences and ended up dying from overdosing in the United States. 42,249 deaths involved an opioid. Opioids are drugs made to replicate opium. They both include legal painkillers like morphine, oxycodone, or hydrocodone prescribed by doctors. The problem with opioids has been growing for years and its growing with each year. The misuse of and addiction of opioids is a serious national crisis. It effects public health as well as social and economic welfare.
So you’re new to EMS? First couple of days on the job? Let’s talk about the bells and whistles. You think when you sign up to be an EMT or FF you are signing up to save lives and that everyone you come into contact with is going to be happy to see you and thankful for your services. Wrong, so incredibly wrong. Let me introduce you to the people who want you to fail, so that they can jump on you for lawsuits.
Imagine obtaining a serious injury and being given medicine to kill the pain so you can heal. Imagine that pain killer taking over your life and becoming an addiction that you will feed at any cost. Imagine stealing, lying, giving up every possession of yours and losing the support of your family and friends just so you can achieve a temporary feeling of euphoria that needs to be tended to frequently in order to maintain the euphoric feeling. This is a reality some Americans have to deal with on a daily basis. No family in America is entirely immune from feeling the pain caused by the opioid epidemic.
My father, Doug Hibbs recently lost his job from a private company where he worked as a result of complaining about the healthcare system. He's also put on probation. Here in Canada,we do have the right to free speech.
