Diversity-
Two definitions of Diversity are:
Diversity- acknowledgement of and respect for their individuality.
Diversity- celebrating differences and valuing everyone. By respecting visible and invisible differences everyone can feel valued for their contribution, beneficial for both the individual and the setting.

They may need more support from government by way of benefits, treatments or services if they are unable to support the needs of their family on their own. In extreme cases there may also be the cost of legal cases, criminal activities and uprisings, all of which have to be covered by the tax payers.
Therefore discrimination hurts everyone, not just the individuals involved.
1.3 Explain how inclusive practice promotes equality and supports diversity
Discrimination and prejudice interfere with people’s rights to have access to equality of opportunity and hinder the promotion of diversity, and they should have no place in a children’s setting.
Inclusion is the opposite of discrimination and all settings should strive to use inclusive practice.
Working towards inclusion means identifying barriers (real or perceived) to all children and families accessing and benefiting from what a setting has to offer on an equal footing. By breaking down those barriers we are taking steps to open up equality of opportunity and promote positive attitudes to diversity. This may mean things like having forms and notices available in different languages or formats, taking into account the needs of the families which use the setting to enable a diverse range of children and families to participate fully.
We also need to ensure that every child has opportunities to develop and thrive, which are as good as those experienced by others. We can provide activities
Diversity – In the literal sense the word ‘diversity’ means different. Through diversity we recognise the uniqueness of the individual and value these differences. Diversity can consist of factors which include personal characteristics such as background, culture, personality and work-style. However, certain characteristics are protected under discrimination such as gender, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, disability and age.
diversity - It means that we are all different from each other. Whether it is our gender, height, weight, ethnic background, religion, beliefs, our personalities, disabilities or sexuality.
Diversity- recognises that all though people have thing in common they are also different in many ways. Diversity therefore consists of visible and non-visible factors which include personal characteristics such as backgrounds culture, by recognising and understanding our individual differences and embracing them we can create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued.
Diversity can be defined as ‘the state of being diverse’. Diversity literally means difference. Diversity recognises that though people have things in common with each other, they are also different and unique in many ways. Diversity is about recognising
Equality means having equal access to the too services a person needs. The centre promoted equality when Patrick Green was tested positive for HIV. Although Patrick was concerned about no longer being accepted as a member he was reassured that he will retain all access to all facilitates and wold be treated with the same courtesy. This is showing equality as Patrick will have equal access to the facilities just like everyone else who goes to the centre, and just like he would even if he didn’t test positive for HIV.
1.1 Areas of legislation are ever changing but it is important to be able to identify current and relevant aspects of those which promote equality and value diversity.
Inclusive practice is a process of identifying, understanding and breaking down barriers to participation and belonging. Inclusion is about ensuring that children and young people, whatever their background or situation, are able to participate fully in all aspects of the life of the school. Inclusive practices will ensure that everyone feels valued and has a sense of belonging. Inclusion is not about viewing everyone as the same or providing the same work, but about providing the same opportunities and access to a
Inclusion is making sure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate. It is a process that involves identifying, understanding
We can promote anti-discriminatory practice by: being a good role model in everything we do; promoting children diversity and individuality; given equal opportunities to all; promoting children participation in the learning process; being aware that “every child matters” as an individual; having good expectations (and not prejudice or discrimination) of all children; supporting a positive ethos within the school; giving pupils the confidence and skills to
* Diversity is essentially another word for different, it recognises that people are different and unique in many ways such as, personal characteristics, background, culture, personality, race, disability, gender, religion, belief, sexual orientation and age. It means recognising and understanding individual’s differences and embracing them, to allow people feel more valued.
Equality is to treat all as individuals; to respect race, disability, age, gender, religion, beliefs ,culture and sexual orientation. For all to be open to opportunities, to be treated fairly and respectfully, have rights and equal status in society and for all to reach their full potential. Diversity is to value that we are all unique and yet similar. We have different needs, interests, learning styles, language and personality etc.
Diversity means to value and respect the differences and individuality of people. This means to embrace the differences between people and to treat a person’s race, culture, religious beliefs, age, sexual orientation, gender, physical and mental characteristics etc. with respect.
Diversity- The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about
As citizens of the United States, equality means that all individuals have the right to access a free and equal education regardless of their race, gender, disability, citizenship, or social status. True equal access should lead to the same outcomes for all students when seeking gainful employment, admission to colleges for advanced degrees, and for academic grades. However, this is not always the case because different students need different things in order to reach the same goals.
In this essay i will be discussing equality amongst children, inclusion, inclusiveness and diversity and how to put these things mentioned into practise when working with children and young people.
