High School Football Observation

Seattle's pass defense has collapsed without Earl Thomas, ranking fifth in Football Outsiders DVOA through Week 11 but 30th out of 32 teams since Thomas missed his first game in Week 12. However, Detroit's passing game has similarly collapsed since Matthew Stafford hurt his finger early in Week 14, ranking 10th through Week 13 but 27th over the past four weeks. It would seem those matching declines would cancel each other out, but the problem for Detroit is that Seattle is better at everything else except special teams. Detroit has little ground attack, while Seattle has one of the 12 best run defenses since FO advanced stats began in 1989. Seattle's offense has been only average this season, but the Detroit defense is much worse than it looks.

If you never attended a Historical Black College and University (HBCU), football, you are missing an event full of pageantry, music, ambiance and competition.

We are a new youth football organization in the city. We formed our charter in May of this year, and we are known as Asbury Park American Youth Football (AFY). We participate in the largest league in the New Jersey, which also includes the shore. We have about 62 boys and girls participating in football and cheer on three (3) teams: Mighty-mites, Jr. Peewees, and Peewees. We practice at the high school and play our home games at the Stadium: our first game is versus Brick in two (2) weeks. We are an organization that is transparent and solely place our participants first.

As an Iowa State student, I enjoy going to the games and supporting my school and team. The games are what I look forward to every weekend. There is a common characteristic of the love for Iowa State and Iowa State’s athletic teams in the stadium. The excitement from all the students and other Iowa State fans brings joy to my eyes. My favorite part of the football games is when all the fans in the student section are standing on the bleachers and cheering together and supporting our team. Although our football may not be very good, we still go to the all games and see our football players do the best they can and bring a win for Iowa State University. Everyone enjoys when the fight song plays and when we sing all the common cheers all together. The stadium gets so loud when there is an exciting play that happens in the game. When there is a touchdown for Iowa State the stadium gets so loud that I can’t even hear myself think and I enjoy the commotion from everyone where we all go around and high-five the people around us. With so many fans, the stadium must have a good size to hold all the cheering fans in one place. Because of so many fans, the stadium is the sixth largest stadium in the Big 12 Conference (by capacity) and the third newest in the conference. The record for most attendees to a single-game was against Kansas State with an attendance 56,800 people

“Sunny and 75 with bright blue skies today is a great way to start off the college football season”, says a sports analyst on the tv from a tent in the tailgating section. Walking down the strip peeking through the trees seeing a glimpse of the arena reminded me of a modernized colosseum. Approaching the main entrance greeted by a metal statue and a stadium with a dark shade of brick with countless of doors and glass windows. Many Lovie Smith propaganda is seen around the stadium along with the array of Illinois gear. “Welcome to Memorial stadium, it’s game day for your Fighting Illini”, said the announcer. My stomach dropped for the fact that college football is officially back.

This was my first trip to Lincoln County and the Death County Bowl, and I have to say this was one of the better ran bowl games I have ever attended. Easy parking,very fan friendly, the people working the game was as good as they get and the little perks were very nice. Just to name two of the perks, all fans were handed a colored program and their were fans for the fans, who wanted them. Then some of the students were walking the stands and making sure everyone had one of the very nicely put together programs.

Football season is winding down. As you know, the end of football season means everyone is gearing up for big showdowns between their favorite matchups. If you are a football fan, then it’s possible that you are planning to tailgate this year. Although tailgating is a great way to show you team spirit, safe tailgating is critical to having a good time and prevent claims against your auto insurance.

First, I walked through the gates and smelled the great food and could see the amazing field. Then, we had to find the suite where my friend’s dad’s business had bought for their employees for the game. We had to climb a ton of stairs to get to our seats because they were way high

Everybody standing and facing the american flag as the anthem began playing over the loudspeakers in the gym. Everyone standing silently in anticipation for an exciting game to occur. As the beginning of the game was coming near the crowd started to get as electric as ever, both student sections on their feet and chanting at the opposite team to try to get in there head and distract them for the prize. As the game begins both teams get to a hot start, making their first baskets couple of baskets of the game. Being a close game the crowd stayed into the game at all times. Yelling at questionable calls from referees was a big recurrence in this game because of the intensity of the game

High school football over the years has become a huge spectacle lets just talk about the DWF area or we can even get smaller to make a point if you made a 25 mile radius these local high school teams play at the Star (seats 12,000), Allen stadium (seats 18,000 cost 60 million), and McKinney’s new stadium (seats 12,000 costs 69.9 million). This is just high school football these young kids playing under tremendous pressure from the start. The pressure to play high school football is immense, there are so many media outlets for these kids, and they get coverage from what it seems like all the time during the season, yet this is all just considered a recreational activity I think it has become more than that now. The pressure for coaches is high as well dealing with parents, board members, keeping up with classes as a teacher, and oh you also have to win since football is a performance-based business (forewarning this will be said a lot). For example I will refer to Boobie Miles from Friday Night Lights for one final point. Boobie knew if he did not make it in football there was nothing special for him. That is why when he got hurt he still wanted to play, because he knew that’s all he had. That is a lot of pressure for a 16-18 year to handle, and if they are not up for it they crack.

The pregame music felt as if it was vibrating and bouncing off of our bodies and the smell of food was circling the entire stadium. Walking down the flights of stairs to get onto the playing surface was a moment I will never forget. The atmosphere was incredible. Since we were early to the game, we were able to see both teams warm up and go through their pregame rituals. Also, during that time, we were able to take pictures, talk to other people, socialize, and enjoy leisure time with the coaches. At kickoff, we headed to our stadium seats to watch and enjoy the game.

Going to a university where football is taken as serious as it is here at Arizona is an affair of it’s own. Personally, I had only experienced various high school football games, until September 3rd, 2015 when I decided to attend The University of Arizona vs. UTSA here at our home stadium. The school spirit, pride and student section, also known as the ZonaZoo, are all such huge contributions to the experience itself. Although football games are only one part of the community here at the U of A, they bring out the comradery in our student body as U of A students love to watch their school succeed against opponents.

What they do not consider are the dangers of going back too soon. Many athletes will be experiencing symptoms of concussions, like dizziness and vision issues, but they continue to play (Meadows). American football is one of the most popular and loved sports in the nation. From nearly birth to adulthood, a majority of boys will participate in football. Football brings entertainment to millions of viewers, but it can also be very threatening to the lives of young men. Although high school football can be amusing, the dangers can lead to injuries and diseases and therefore affect the young athletes in the long run.
