At National Alliance of Research Associate Programs (NARAP)at Hackensack is research model where pre-health professional students volunteering as Research Associates (RAs) for one 4-hour shift per week as data collectors for clinical studies in the emergency department.

Evidenced-based practice (EBP) originated in Canada from a new form of medical school which was launched during the 1970s at an institution called McMaster University (Hoffmann, Bennett, & Del Mar, 2010). This new medical program was uncommon in a variety of its methods. The primary variation was the abbreviated three year medical program which is very brief in comparison to other medical school framework (Hoffmann, Bennett, & Del Mar, 2010). Instructors conceded that the ideal concept of teaching medical students everything they would possibly need to know in regards to practicing medicine with in this program was an unattainable undertaking (Hoffmann, Bennett, & Del Mar, 2010). In response to this epiphany, instructors at this institution transformed their educational approach and focused on instruction that would provide students with the skills and tools they would need to effectively locate health information while practicing as healthcare professionals (Hoffmann, Bennett, & Del Mar, 2010). This scientific approach to healthcare is now known as evidence-based practice (Hoffmann, Bennett, & Del Mar, 2010). Clinical Research Internship Study Program (CRISP) at the Mayo Clinic Florida strengthened my idea that research is an integral part of clinical medicine. After the CRISP, I decided a MD/Ph.D. suits my future goals better than an MD or Ph.D. because it will better equip me with essential tools, such as the ability to practice and develop medicine, needed to provide the best patient care possible. My course of study at the University of Mary is the Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Educator track. My level of experience in education is limited to the time I have spent educating patients within the various positions I have held since becoming a nurse. Pre- and post-op instructions, educating patients during their labor and delivery experience, as well as educating patients on medications, treatments and options in their care include some of the ways I've interacted with patients in providing education. I do not have any experience in the development or implementation of research of evidence-based projects (EBP) studies.

I had talked to my site supervisor about the opportunity to spend some time with Emmit, who is head of the RICC (Rapid Intervention Community Court) Program. She thought this would be a great experience, so she reached out to Emmit, and he gladly accepted. Once I arrived at the court house, I spent from about 8:30am till 10:00am or later with Emmit.

Language is a primary mean of communication that has contributed to society for millions of years. Language can tell a story about people’s culture. Language can produce a series of emotions and meanings. Language can be spoken distinctively through changes in spelling, speed, tones, and pitches. Language creates an atmosphere of togetherness, mystery, and security to outsiders. In my life, Ebonics had revealed an unique aspect of how my parents and distant relatives influenced my understanding of the Afrocentric dialect of the English language. In addition, it revealed how I communicate to my family and friends and the distinction of my reading between Ebonics and Old English during my high school years.

In this first section a few things came up that would be helpful in my research. The article mentions, “Today, the CDC recommends that children receive vaccines for 10 diseases, plus the flus vaccine, by age 6, which can mean up to 37 separate shots”. There were stories in this section on different parents even actors against vaccinations. The article did mention that there was a study that identified that usually children who are not vaccinated are from male children from wealthy educated families. This is important because in my personal experience low income families are easily persuaded and even as an adult or child will take anything given by a doctor without even knowing what they are taken. I found out about the SSLP through my friends applying and who participated as well as through announcements via flyers and emails. I've also had professors and advisors recommend applying to the SSLP as a great way to engage in service during summer breaks.

Everyone has their own characteristics that set them apart. The way they act, think, and feel gives them their own individual personality. But what if you could learn exactly what type of person you are? That is what intrigued me when I heard about the Enneagram system. I have taken personality quizzes before, but none were as accurate as the Enneagram. By taking this quiz, I learned more about myself than I realized I knew. The largest components of this questionnaire are the center, wings, and arrows. One’s personality is more complex than it seems. Even though I am classified to a particular group, I blend into other types similar to mine. Along with the Enneagram questionnaire, I completed a Learning Styles survey. This survey also

The class has provided a great opportunity for myself to refresh and greatly improve my understanding of terms related to medical care, treatment and diagnoses. The benefit of this class lays a great foundation in the pursuit of my degree in health care management. I’m currently over the EMS operations and training for a fire/ems system with well over 100 paramedics. I expect a lot from them and for them to receive the same from myself.
