I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book Reading Ellen White by George R. Knight. I found some sections of the book to be particularly interesting. I learned different ways to interpret Ellen White’s writings. When reading at a surface level some of her writings can seem to contradict each other. It is important when reading her messages to know how to interpret what she is saying to get the full meaning of the writing. While reading through the book I came across some good points that I hope to apply to my life as well as with those I come in contact with.
Overall I found the book Reading Ellen White to be an eye opening read. I thought it was a new approach to Ellen White and her writings. I enjoyed how the book was split up into “Preliminary Considerations”, “Principles of Interpretation, and “Principles of Application”. These sections make it easy to navigate through the book. If someone is struggling with interpreting Ellen White’s writings, they can turn to the “Principles of Interpretation” section. If someone wants advice on how to apply her writings to their life they can turn to “Principles of Application” section.
After reading this book the biggest take away I have gained from it is how to better interpret Ellen White’s writings. I have read many of Ellen White’s books weather in school or

This book not only taught me how to apply her writings to my life, but how to also apply it to others. I have better learned how to apply her writings to my life by first questioning my faith. I learned that I must first apply her writings to my life before I seek to apply it to others. By searching my own heart and my life God will help me take what I have interpreted and help me apply it to my life. After I have applied it to my life then I can point others in the right direction. I can help them learn to interpret and apply Ellen White’s
In Ellen Hopkins’ Identical, twins Kaeleigh and Raeanne bring dark secrets to light. After the girls’ daddy, Raymond Gardella - a comely city judge - causes a car accident involving them and their mother, the family begins to fall apart at the seams. The girls’ mother soon after turns frigid, showing little to no emotion towards their daddy, and she eventually leaves them all. The loss of their mother, and their daddy’s loss of his wife, sends all them all into a downward spiral, which is just the start of the family dilemmas. Despite the family’s desperate pleas to have her back, she still refuses, and soon takes up an interest in the city politics. While she is gone, the girls’ daddy does some repugnant things that should have him put in jail, but only Kaeleigh and Raeanne know – and they’re smart enough not to open their mouths about it, or daddy will make it worse.

What Did You Expect To Learn When You Picked Up The Book? To What Extent – And How Effectively – Were Your Expectations Met?
The discovery I made as a result of reading this book is that one should think about their decisions before taking action. They need to think about other people and if it will harm them or make their life easier. The main character of the book, Mia Hall, made sure no one would get harmed when she chose to stay alive after getting into a car accident and not go with her family into the afterlife. Something new I learned was to think before I do anything. People should always think before they speak or decide and they shouldn’t ignore other people's ideas. Mia takes in the ideas and concepts of her friends and family so she knows what choice to make and she doesn’t just think for herself. The theme of this book is to make the best decision when
Another area of the book that I take issue with is that Dickerson argues that it is important for blacks to surrender their past and their racial identity if they are ever going to get anywhere in this country, yet at the same time she writes a chapter “white intransigence" where she lumps all whites together. If this is what she is saying should not happen to blacks, then how does she justify doing it in the case of whites? If whites still make bigoted remarks and spin statistics as she says then she is defeating her own argument that the civil rights movement brought revolutionary change. Again I question, if she is urging blacks to surrender and give up old patterns of rhetoric and complaint in favor of civic participation then why does she present white supremacy as such an overwhelming external force that can not be overcome?
Give a detailed description of how the book impacted you on a personal level To truly recognize how a book can open your eyes and give you a fresh perspective, I think you have to read the book, There Are No Children Here, by Alex Kotlowitz. This book describes a social impression that few people actually experience or fully understand. It has all the aspects that a good quality book needs; facts, struggles, a little romance and the greatest importantly a strong family bond that you study to rely on. This book has laid many things into perspective for me. I realized that my problems are nil compared to Pharoah's and Lafeyette's.
My faith and how I lived in my faith made serves as a lasting example to believers in Christ (Lindslay, 3). In life, I believed that all work that I did was spiritual work for the betterment of the Lord’s kingdom. Whether I was writing, ministering, eating out, or simply talking with friends, all work, all things, all I did was for the advancement of the Lord’s kingdom. For the work of “a Beethoven” or the work of a “charwoman” were all the same in my eyes; for both the workers, their work should be “offered to God” and done “humbly” “as to the Lord” (Eshlemen, 2). Although I struggled with cynicism, this way of living life challenged and brought new meaning to my life (Lindslay, 3). This idea on the life I lived and how I lived the life I was given serves as an example of Colossians 3:17 for Christians who wish to live and long to live in similar fashions (The Holy, 237). This way of living my faith truly required me to be quite public and open with my thoughts and beliefs. My faith was not always outright and public. When I was young, my family was my first spiritual influence (Eshlemen, 5). My faith started when I was young, but was shattered with the death of my mother when I was ten years of age (Lindslay, 1). This tragedy shook who I thought God is. The death of my mother affected me deeply. In fact, in college, I denounced the protestant
To teach young children that being yourself is the best way to live, taking chances, being respectful and opening up always goes a long way. I feel she wants to show us that reading and writing are great separate but together it shows within. Words are taught to people from books, so if no one reads new words how will the next person learn the meaning.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book Ellen White’s World by George R. Knight. I found some sections of the book to be particularly interesting. I learned about people I have never heard of before as well as learned more in depth about familiar names. While reading through the book I came across some good points that I hope to apply to my life as well as with those I come in contact with. Ellen White is such an influential individual in the Adventist community. She has a lot of very good insight into many different aspects of life. Ellen White’s views on education and health particularly spoke to me and were the most relatable to my life.
Ellen White is talked about a lot in the Adventist community. George R. Knight goes into great detail into the life of Ellen White in his book Meeting Ellen White. It is very important that we understand and learn more about the influential people that are in the history of the church. As one of the most influential people, it is important that we learn how Ellen White’s writings and her presence helped mold Adventism. Her story has shown me many lessons to apply to my life. Not only her story, but her many writings have also impacted my life in many ways.

“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” (White). Elwyn was a great and always full of humor and that came out especially in his writings. All growing up I read a lot of his books because they were books that were in the family for a long time and every one of my siblings read them growing up. They were books that we passed down because they were some of the best books for kids to read when they were old enough to understand what they were about. E.B White always had a sense of humor in his writings. It was something that could never be copied in the same way that he would write.

First of all, this book is similar to some things I'm learning in social psychology. It wasn't any suprise to me when I
