Elementary Students Switch Classes

Maria was in the third grade and the bell rang to dismiss all of the third graders to their next class. Maria gathered all of her belongings and headed to her next class. As she was walking, she felt like she was in the eighth grade because she got to switch classes, just like the eighth graders do. Some elementary children get to switch classes, as young as they are. Those children learn early on, on how a middle school or high school works. As a student, I believe that elementary students should begin to switch classes at a young age. In schools that switch, teachers play a big part in making sure kids learn each subject. Teachers have the opportunity to focus on just on one subject, rather than all of the subjects. In Source 2, “When a teacher teaches the same lesson throughout the day, he or she can ensure that students fully understand the material. The lesson may be of higher quality since the teacher only has to prepare one outstanding lesson to teach several times each day”(Source 2). This is because teachers have more time to really explain this one subject to all of the students. Teachers, who have to teach all of the subjects, may not be explaining each subject thoroughly because they don’t have enough time to prepare for many different subjects. School materials will also be less pricey. …show more content…

Switching classes is positive because teachers have the opportunity to focus on one subject, materials needed are less costly and each teacher has more time to plan lessons. Children will be ready, early on, to switch classes in middle school and high school. These kids will know the procedure to switch classes, rather than entering middle school and not knowing the way that they should switch classes. Switching classes also give kids responsibilities to get to a certain place, at a certain time and they will truly need to learn this responsibility for the rest of their
