What are the creature's views on society? How about its views on justice and injustice? Society shapes the way we view ourselves and people. Frankenstein's creation journeyed throughout the book around society. In this novel, we view how Frankenstein's creation was viewed by society.
First, Victor Frankenstein's creation of the monster. When Victor created the monster, he wanted to do what his professor told him to do. To unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation. Doing so, he did it by creating his monster, but what shaped the monster's view on society was being abandoned by Victor. Like Victor, the family was horrified by the monster's appearance, but only one person was not. The elder of the DeLacey was not horrified because he was blind. Before the rest of the family saw the creature, Elder DeLacey listened and talk to the monster. He had no fear of the creature because he did not see what the creature looked like. When the rest of the family finally did see him, they either fainted, fled, or ran the creature out of their home. Why did they do this? Because of his appearance. They did not listen to him like the elder did. They only saw his appearance and thought he was a monster on the inside as well.
Third, the girl and her father. The creature later met a girl throughout his journey that was drowning. The creature saved the drowning girl. However, the girl's father was horrified by his appearance. Again, the appearance. The father shot at the creature because he was horrified. If the creature looked like the father, would he had been shot? No, but because he looked like a monster, he was immediately judged based on his appearance that he was a monster on the inside too, so he was shot at even though the creature saved his
