Growing up, it was always an assumption that being a stellar student would reward me with many scholarships to assist me with my college education. Unfortunately, I have come to the realization that good grades and high test scores alone will not get me as much assistance as I has hoped. Nevertheless, I do believe that being an exceptional student, complete with an excellent GPA, high test scores, community involvement, and extracurricular activities, highly qualifies me for scholarships more than some students. However, I do not believe that my credentials set me apart from the competition. What sets me apart from others and makes me unique is both my diligent work ethic and my drive to succeed in everything I do. From my experience doing
Even though I was applying for an abundance of scholarships at the time, I would not know if I would be selected to receive them until after I had to make my final college decision. While Elizabethtown College was not my first choice school, it was still an outstanding school and because of the generous scholarship I received from them, it was very affordable. On the day before my high school graduation, I was thrilled to find out that all my hard work in academics, extracurriculars and community service had paid off. I had received over $20,000 in scholarships including the Malcom Wesley Myers and Anna Geary Myers Scholarship.
To begin, there are numerous scholastic achievements that have made me and my family proud. One of the most important scholastic achievement has been my acceptance to CSUSM. As a first generation college student, my acceptance and determination to pursue a higher education has become by far the most extraordinary scholastic achievement. Since my acceptance to CSUSM two years ago, I have been admitted to the Dean’s List three semesters. In high school, I received two years of presidential excellence for maintaining a 3.5 GPA and higher. As well, I was part of the National Honor Society in high school which has carried on to

First off, one characteristic that is important to both this organization and myself is scholarship. Although, it may seem easy to make and maintain passing grades, it is the added dedication that I possess that I hope you’ll be able to see. For example, during my freshman year of high school I was able to have a GPA of 3.8. Though most people would be proud of having this GPA I was not, I knew that I could do better and I was determined to make sure that I did. Therefore,
Throughout my academic career, I was presented with myriad of opportunities that encouraged me to excel in academics and extra-curricular activities. The fact that I was one of the meritorious students throughout my academic years with a 3.91 GPA bears testimony to my sincerity and drive to excel. My tenure at my undergraduate college provided me with boundless opportunities to work in a
n the middle of the second semester that is when it hit. The laziness and an excessive wearing of track shorts and sweatpants, and the over-sized T-shirts. Mrs. Rado demanded that I see her after class to have a “talk” and we all know what that means. When teachers want to tell you have a bad work ethic and need to start doing better or you will be guaranteed a failing grade. In order to teach me a lesson Mrs. Rado sent me four mentors with the hope that I would change my ways. Krogstad, Beowulf, Hamlet, and Elizabeth Proctor lawyer strolled into the classroom where I met them before the lessons began. Krogstad was an intelligent, tall man who dressed in a business suit. Beowulf had shoulder length, golden hair, and wore his gladiator armor.
My hopes for the future is being able to use the knowledge I gain on this class and being able to apply it on my daily work ethic. In addition., that I can used this project and use it as a recommendation on one of my meeting and do a presentation about it so my employer see the importance in making an action to help that the issues of retaining nurses need a change as soon as possible .
While college education is not mandatory, furthering one’s schooling broadens the amount of jobs one is qualified for and can attain. College provides many benefits and opportunities to students but the monetary value of college is not very appealing. Throughout high school I have worked hard for good grades and have pushed myself in accelerated courses to prepare myself for college, both for the curriculum and the tuition. My effort and efficiency as a student helped me receive a generous academic scholarship from North Central College and I know that my perseverant study habits will secure this scholarship throughout the next four years. Even with North Central’s scholarship, there is still a large sum of tuition left that I must pay each year. I am a dedicated student who understands the value of a college education, especially a private college education. Affording college is imperative to me and scholarships are on my daily to-do list so that I have the funds needed to further my education. By furthering my education I will have more knowledge, experience, and diligence when it comes to teaching my own students one day, and scholarships help make this
I believe in the principle of working hard, and I believe sports are the reason I am who I am today. My whole life my parents pounded into my head the importance of hard work. I had heard this idea so many times, I never really understood what it meant, I just knew it must be important. As I grew up, I realized how many amazing things sports have taught me, and I am thankful for the work ethic I have now, because of sports.
As a High School senior, the inevitability of student loans always hung over my head, and yet among the sea of things that I could’ve done, scholarships never felt like an option. Scholarships exist to help students pay for a college education, something which has become indispensable for a “suitable” life nowadays. So then why do students willingly ignore the plethora of scholarships available to them? The answer is frustratingly simple: scholarships aren’t built around the student’s they’re supposed to target.
Throughout my educational career I have learned the importance of a strong work ethic. In middle school I was able to accomplish all of my school work, take advanced classes, maintain grades above a C average, and take part in after school activities without much effort. High School on the other hand, forced me to mature and develop a work ethic to succeed as a student. Maintaining, the same GPA, I balance acting and directing for my school’s theater company, volunteering as a part of the National Honor Society, being involved in International Club and Student Council, working part time at my local library, and excelling in Advanced Placement classes. With so many obligations, sound time management skills are a necessity. Since I learned to succeed with a multitude of responsibilities that once seemed overbearing, I am seeking to challenge myself through an education at Indiana University with a clear and organized approach.
Regarding my scholarship, I quickly realized getting good grades was relatively easy for me; thu, I decided that I would take advantage of this by involving myself in other school activities such as participating in STUGO, writing for the Equine Gazette, hosting the EG News, and managing the school’s social media accounts. Although my 4.0 GPA is important to me, my best attribute is my well roundedness as a person.
In today’s day and age, we tend to believe an incredible person is someone with plenty of responsibilities. Although, it is a fantastic thing for one to keep his/her self-busy, it’s about the heart and mind set the person uses to fulfill those responsibilities. I believe anyone is capable of anything in this world. However, if they are not doing it with passion, they are not doing it correctly. I truly believe that I deserve the Incredible Person Scholarship, not only because I participate in community service, work and home responsibilities, extra-curricular activities, and personal integrity. The attitude and spirit I have engaging in these activities, is what makes me an Incredible person.
was raised by my parents to never lose sight of my goals and to always have a positive work ethic. My parents were born in India and they moved to Canada in hopes that their children could have a better life. They work hard everyday so that my siblings and I do not have to quit school like they did. My greatest eye opening experience was when I started working with my mother as a general factory worker in grade ten. The working conditions were very tough in which we stood for long hours and we had to be constantly working quickly. I met many great women and men who were new immigrants and heard their struggles in their birth country. However, despite all of the pressure they were thankful for their job and to be living in Canada. At the young
I have heard my grandpa say “times have changed” about a hundred times, but I normally just let it go in one ear and out the other. Last Saturday when he told me “times have changed” really caught my attention. That phrase made me realize for the first time that my generation has become self-centered. Self-centered is a person who only thinks about themselves, their own need and their own interest. Self-centered people do not do anything people tell them to do, and they think everything is about them. These types of people act like the world owes them something. However, today’s generation tends to be more self-centered than earlier generations.
