Eddie, created by Latin Quarter, is a song meant to inform and express extreme emotions surrounding the Falklands War. Verbal language has been shaped through the context of anti-war songs surrounding this tragic event and common feelings towards war. Some language features used are register, which is how formal or informal the song is, and tone, which brings emotion and feeling into the song. We can see these first two characteristics going hand in hand as they constantly work together to shape this song. Point of view–how the song has been written and opinions of the artist–and positioning of the reader, how the language positions the reader to influence their emotions are both found throughout this song. A tone of mourning and loss has been used. A mournful tone can be very typical of sad songs, especially ones regarding war. This helps to engage the listener and manipulate their emotions surrounding the war, which is a sorrowful event, especially from the eyes of a British band. “But we’d never guess the way that Eddie feels” is a quote from the song using a mournful tone. This is mournful due to them feeling sorry for how Eddie feels. Similar tone can be seen in Another Man’s Cause by the Levellers through the line “your daddy, well, he died in the Falklands” which sets the tone through the topic of death. This is because the language used by the artist normally reflects how they feel about something. We see many anti-war songs from the point of view of the artist, influencing the position of the reader through verbal language use. This connection can be seen in “And Eddie’s round at my house insane” as the use of the word ‘insane’ sets the position of the reader and comes from the artist's point of view. Absolute Pitch: An Inside Look When most people see a wavelength of light, they find no difficulty in associating it with a color. Yet hearing a frequency of sound and associating it with a musical note is a cognitive talent that fascinates scientists. This rare ability is referred to in the scientific literature as absolute pitch (AP) and it allows individuals to effortlessly, immediately and accurately label the pitches they hear with a musical note. Music and language share a commonality; the same way phrases are structured in music, can be seen when thoughts are structured in sentences of different languages. Music plays a role in memory, auditory attention, and different structures of language, such as the syntax and phonemes, which can improve on reading and writing skills. Bidelman et al. has shown that when it comes to music and language, speech pitch processing can differ between musicians and non-musicians, where there are evidence that
Ever since I was born, I was raised in a Vietnamese household where my parents and grandparents always communicated to me in only Vietnamese. Before I was four years old, I slowly learned English from watching television and listening American radio stations. In my elementary school, I learned the American alphabet by memorization and repetition of the sounds and signs of the American alphabet. Then teachers started to make students learn new vocabulary and helping students make flashcards with pictures

Fifteenth May 2014: The day my family and I moved from Chicago to London because of my Dads promotion. I was enraged about the move though, my family were filled with outright awe. The thought of moving to London, trying new cultures and meeting new individuals tempted them to moving. School: Their accent and uniform – everything was odd. My brother then again delighted in finding another nation and way of life, so he fitted in superbly. Every second was hell and the hall possessed an aroma similar
"Mamie, can you pass me the salad?" I asked my grandmother, as we sat eating dinner together. She immediately passed me the salad. "How was school, sugar?" she asked me.
