Ed Coan is arguably the greatest powerlifter of all time. He holds the world record deadlift in 4 weight classes and has a career high 901 pound deadlift. He has lifted more weight than almost every man alive and squatted 1,003 pounds at one point. Ed won his first title in 1983 and did not lose for 16 consecutive years. He has won with margins of 200-500 pounds, which is unheard of during that time period and even today. Mark Gallagher said “When he shattered the 2400-pound barrier, the second best 220-pound powerlifting total was 2102. Coan, mathematically, was 14.5% better than the next best powerlifter in the world” ( Joe Skopec Powerlifting). Ed Coan is almost a superhuman to the sport. He will always be the greatest ever. I was really excited to read the article “Power Steer” by Michael Pollen. I’ve seen several of his books at local book stores, as well as different television shows featuring his work. The purpose of Michael Pollen’s article was to educate himself and others on the process of producing industrial steak in America, and making a financial profit along the way. He felt that “Ignorance was no longer tenable.” In doing so, Michael decided to purchase an 8 month old calf numbered 534 for $598. This totaled $1.60 a day for room and board due to the cattle not being weaned yet. Throughout Michael’s educational journey, he was able to learn about the different problems associated with animal feeding operations. This includes health problems that cattle could cause to humans, such as

Elaine Hall, also known as Coach E, is truly an outstanding woman. Every parent who raises a child with a disability is already an amazing individual, however, Coach E exceeds this status through her unique idea of The Miracle Project. It was obvious through some of the clips on the film that the rehearsals did not always go so well. Oftentimes a lot of the children would enter into their own world or focus on one thing that differed from what was being rehearsed which could lead to a distraction. Coach E would handle these situations very well by joining what the child was doing instead of yelling at them or trying to redirect them back to the rehearsal activity. This was visible when Wyatt began talking about the bullies at his school. Instead
Every great thing has its legends. Here are some from this great sport. The first great legend is a man known as Fred "Dr. Squat" Hatfield. Hatfield made history throughout the sport of powerlifting, being known best as the first man to squat over 1,000 pounds in a competition. He achieved 1,014 at a bodyweight of 255 pounds (American Strength Legends 2). He did this at the age of 45, as well. Even more so, he could bench press 573 pounds and deadlift 766 pounds. All through his life, Fred was an athlete, excelling in soccer, track, and gymnastics. He received many degrees associated with fitness and sports training, now owning one of the largest personal training organizations in the world; the International Sports Sciences Association. He has also trained the U.S.A. powerlifting squad and many other world renowned athletes. Some other huge achievements of Dr. Hatfield were winning three world powerlifting championships and setting thirty world and national records in five different weight classes, something never done by any other lifter. Fred competed from the 70's to this very day at the age of almost sixty (American Strength Legends 2).
A weightlifter will have to increase the amount of weights he does to get him improving his own strength. This will help him to lift more over a long period of time.
If you are, or ever were, a wrestler, could you imagine having a record of 181-1? Dan Gable did not have to imagine it, because that was his record. Throughout his high school, college and Olympic career, he only lost one match. Nate Kaeding expressed it perfectly when he said, “He has truly earned his place as the godfather of Iowa sports” (Wrestling Life). Dan Gable is the best, pure wrestling role model because of the amount of hard work and dedication he put into the sport and his drive to always be better. This is illustrated in his record as a high school and college wrestler, a coach, and in the Olympics as a wrestler and coach.

In “Street Magic from Blaine to Dynamo” by Max Sexton, Sexton describes some of the major differences between stage and magic and street magic and how street magic came to be.
Harriet Jacobs, Frances E. W. Harper, and Anna Julia Cooper are three African American female writers who have greatly impacted the progress of "black womanhood." Through their works, they have successfully dispelled the myths created about black women. These myths include two major ideas, the first being that all African American women are perceived as more promiscuous than the average white woman. The second myth is that black women are virtually useless, containing only the capabilities of working in white homes and raising white children. These myths caused these women to be degraded in the eyes of others as well as themselves. In Jacobs' Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Harper's Iola Leroy, and Cooper's A

“Press”. There are a lot of accomplishment that you have in weightlifting. You have a lot of accomplishments that you have to achieve to be great at it. It's not something you do just for fun, you have to put your passion in it. It made me accomplish a lot of things but the main one was with stress and my anger.
We hit the weights hard and heavy. Mr. Vietto complimented me for only being 157 pounds and having the ability to bench press 215 pounds. Mr. Vietto slowly became even more impressed with my work ethic. When I would struggle with a certain amount of weight he would give a look. A look that made me push even harder and extend to a new level of fitness. After our workout he wanted me to sign up for Detroit’s annual weightlifting competition. He even offered to be my trainer and my medical trainer. It was an offer I could not resist, so I took
Weight training originated in the Egyptian-Greek era. Since war was common in those days, weight training was a tool to gain muscle and stamina. It wasn’t until the early 1900’s did a man named Eugene Sandow change the way people viewed bodybuilding. In those days, weightlifters were called “strongmen”. These “strongmen” entertained people with their displays of great strengths by lifting animals and pulling carts. Many “strongmen” were overweight with meaty limbs, in which today’s society would view as “overweight”. It wasn’t until Sandow came along that the concept of weightlifting changed. Sandow was able to display great acts of strength, but unlike the “strongmen”, had an appealing physique to the public. His physique drew people in by the masses. People became intrigued with weightlifting and many researchers began to study the sport. Through their research, they
