People when they’re driving on the road aren’t very smart. Like c’mon you’d think that they’d be able to look out for themselves and others on the road without hurting other people. Why do people have to be so dumb when it comes to their driving? What is it a top priority to be texting your mom while you’re driving in the car with your best friend? No you’re just gonna end up getting both of you killed! It is absolutely absurd that people have to put other people’s lives at risk because of their own idiotic impulses while they’re behind the wheel. Honestly why can’t people just simply focus on the road and let the other people in the car focus on everything else? It shouldn’t be that hard for your friend to go into your phone and pick the song that you want to listen to, you don’t need to be on your phone trying to multitask which might end up with your family taking over the …show more content…
People simply SHOULD NOT be driving when they aren’t fully coherent. I thought that would’ve been common sense considering how many laws we have in place to stop people from doing that but I guess not. The government should start taking licenses away if they catch someone driving recklessly or driving under the influence, and then if they catch them driving anywhere else even after they’ve taken their license, they should simply put them in prison because putting other people's lives in danger is not acceptable. I’m honestly pretty sure that my five year old niece could drive better than some of these adults out here. People just need to start figuring out that they can’t be downright idiots when they’re driving and our country would be a much better place. There wouldn’t be as many accidents, there wouldn’t be as many problems with vehicles and we’d be able to make our vehicles much safer either
After reading “Driving While Stupid,” by Dave Barry, he tells us about some of his experience with seeing bad drivers. Barry uses many old experiences while being in Miami, China, Boston, and Argentina. I agree with this statement because in almost every city I been in the driving was terrible. Everyone, in some way or another, has witnessed people drive very stupid and reckless. Barry indicated that some drivers use insane driving techniques. These include driving very fast, failure of the utilization of headlights at night, and having distractions for the view of the drivers. He says that the drivers do not have a sequence for navigation since some are involved in phone calls, eating, reading, changing CDs, crowd surface makeup, etc. This is a common thing for teens and even adults to be distracted behind the wheel. He drove through various cities where the traffic laws are constantly being violated. For example, has only one traffic law, which is “No driver may ever be behind any other driver.” In his opinion, Miami drivers are the worst drivers that he has ever witness because of the guy who was driving on 1-95. He was watching videos on his phone and was clearly not paying attention to the road or any other drivers. This does not only affect him but also the other people around him. He was not be cautious of the road and putting his and others lives in danger.
Distracted driving is obviously a big deal but some people don’t seem to think so. They see all the accidents that happen because of distracted driving but they continue to do it because they think “ oh it’ll never happen to me “ or “it doesn’t happen to anyone i know so why would it happen to me” well it can happen to anyone at anytime. While you may have your phone out because of an emergency going on, all distractions, including make up,food, and phones should be put up while driving and if there are passengers in the car they need to be quiet so that the driver can focus. If the driver has out a distraction while driving, they're going to try to pay attention to the road and the distraction, in other words they try to multitask. 31% of U.S drivers ages 18-64 admitted to sending or reading a text while driving , in 2012 3,328 people were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver. When you’re driving, be considerate.Put down your phone while you’re driving, if you know it’s not safe then why do it.Think about other drivers on the road, by texting and driving you’re not only putting yourself at risk you’re putting others lives at risk too. We need tougher laws on texting and driving just
There should be more government programs to educate and prevent people from driving intoxicated. The Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) survey found out that by the time teenagers are seniors in high school, more than 80% of the teens admit to having some experience with alcohol. Texas is a zero tolerance state for underage drinking; it has some of the strictest penalties for underage drinking, and if 80% of the teenagers in Texas have had experiences with alcohol then it is apparent that the campaigns against underage drinking, and zero tolerance programs are not working. Teens are going to be tempted to drink alcohol at some point of their lives. So instead of having these 18 year old legal adults restricted, the government should spend their money to inform their people about safety when drinking instead of the severe prevention of teens drinking.
Many people get away with putting their own life at risk, as well as thousands of others daily. This is a very serious matter that people do not understand in the slightest. Most people believe that after they have had a few beers and are a little buzzed that it is still okay to drive and that it has not altered them in any sort of way. There are also other people that get arrested that are way over the legal limit when they are driving. Some of these people risk this everyday.
There are many inconsistencies across the nation regarding driving laws as they are usually determined by the state. For example, only 14 states have laws banning all drivers from using hand-held cell phones even though cell phones are a proven distraction (Governors Highway Safety Association, 2016). The federal government could create laws like banning talking on the phone while driving, or intensify punishment for drunk driving. Also, laws could be passed to require defensive driving class for all novice drivers and for those who have had their license revoked. These classes would provide the tools for these drivers to practically learn how to drive safer. If the federal government would create a standard set of driving laws, it would set a precedent across the
Now we get into what is known as the reckless driver. A picture comes to mind of a frazzled man or woman driving a beat up Oldsmobile; cigarette dangling from the lip of their mouth, swerving in and out of traffic while others beep their horns in disapproval. This type of driver can occur when a competent driver has had a bad day and is encountering the overly cautious driver. Stereotypically this driver is younger in age and male, but I feel that the reckless driver has no set age or sex. They get so angry for the smallest of reasons that they don’t really care what they do as a result, so long as they go out in a blaze of glory. They tend to disregard most driving signs and have no qualms about risking their life or the lives of others. These are the drivers who barely apply the brake when coming to a stop, more like “tap tap and go”. My uncle Jim is a prime example of a reckless driver. At the age of 82, he drives a boat of a Cadillac, commanding the streets with his led foot and somewhat latent reactions to those around him. Try telling him to ease up or look out, and he’s bound to increase the gas flow to his V8 engine.
If you ask anyone, who has lost a loved one to a car accident, 8 out of 10 it's because the driver was distracted. Weather they were reading a text, changing the radio station, or on the phone, those few seconds where their attention was elsewhere cost them their life. Sometimes not only their life, but the life of another driver, damage to property, and even more so the lives of the family and friends of the individuals involved. When such horrific events take place one cannot help, but to think "Why them?" or "If only..." "If only there were precautions that could have been taken, than none of this would have happened." But the truth is there are precautions, such as turning off your phone while driving, and the laws made for the sole purpose
Talking on the phone can wait, no matter if it’s your friends or your family calling you. They should know that you are driving; they should understand that answering the phone can wait, while your life cannot. Your life is way more important than anything you own or able do to. Without your life your not able to do any of those things, so what’s the point in risking it. Many people aren’t very aware what vehicles are capable of doing, there are monsters, and accidents are one of the most reasons of death in the United States. People don’t know the consequences of driving unaware of the people around them. They can injure themselves or might hurt someone else. Which is way worse than anything, knowing that you injured or take someone’s life from them and their loved
When it comes to someone getting behind a wheel it’s a big responsibility, you are not a passenger that could be doing different stuff you are now carrying with several lives and people are waiting for you at home. Many things cross our minds exactly when we are about to drive, but we need to learn how to ignore them and worry about getting where we supposed to be. Nowadays many accidents that occur on roads are caused by distracting driving and it seems easy to choose to do something such as: texting, eating or drinking, talking to passenger’s etcetera. “The best way to end distracted driving is to educate all Americans about the danger it poses” Not everyone realizes the danger it is being distracted while driving, but every distraction cause at least once to take our eyes off the road.
People do not focus on the road they are more interested whatś on the phone than on the road. when you are on the road and you hear your phone ding you want to go and grab it and when you head towards your phone your eyes are off the road and you can not see where you are going and it puts you off. It is like you are walking a straight line and you are on the phone while doing that and you are not focused on the line and you are way off. Mathew Walberg proved that cell phones and driving is as hazardous as we think it is and he proved by with his story called ¨ cell phones and driving as dangerous as we think¨ he wrote ¨ that researchers tracked the number of accident reports that listed cellphone use as a factor during two-year periods before and after the 2008 passage of a statewide ban on handheld
My husband and were driving down the interstate in anticipation of a long weekend together. I randomly glanced at the car to my right, I was shocked at what I saw; a woman putting on mascara, on the interstate nonetheless. I decided to observe other drivers we passed, to note their different activities. Here is what I saw, talking and texting on the phone, eating, turning to check something in the back seat, and fighting with children. I came to the conclusion that the roads are filled with distracted drivers, not all however to many. What is distracted driving? A.O. Ferdinand and N. Menachemi (2014) define distracted driving in this way, people who drive and at the same time participate in other activities that are not associated with driving; which distract them from their duty of driving (para 1). The National Safety Council (2012), shared the following story, “In January 2004, at 4:00 p.m., in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a 20-year-old woman ran a red light while talking on a cell phone. The driver’s vehicle slammed into another vehicle crossing with the green light directly in front of her. The vehicle she hit was not the first car through the intersection, it was the third or fourth. The police investigation determined the driver never touched her brakes and was traveling 48 mph when she hit the other vehicle. The crash cost the life of a 12-year-old boy. Witnesses told the investigators that the driver was not looking down, not dialing the phone, or texting.
Some states have made it illegal to drive while using a handheld cell phone. Driving with a hand- held cell phone can be dangerous and cause people to lose their lives. All States should make it illegal for people to drive with a phone in their hands. Making this illegal will prevent people from getting tickets, life threatening injuries and killing an entire generation. Many people get pulled over everyday because they were not paying attention to the road and what they were doing. Such as going over the speed limit , texting and driving which makes people lose track of time or even as simple as a phone call. While people are trying to multi task on the road they don't realize that they are speeding or swerving on the road. Reckless
“My godson, Enzo Williams, recently died in a car accident, he was 6 months and 15 days old. They were waiting to turn left at a red light and the driver who hit them was texting and not paying attention (D).” Driving while on the phone or even texting while driving can be a very dangerous thing. Cell phone users cause over 1 in 4 car accidents. I believe drivers should be held completely responsible for their actions if they are using the phone while driving.
I do not know how many times I have been driving down the road when someone does something stupid, ranging from pulling out in front of me or tailgating. More and more drivers enter the road every year and it seems as if less and less of them know how to drive.
As Americans we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorbikes for many different reasons. One major reason is that they are an easy and convenient mobility; a personal mode of transportation. It is rather hard to imagine what this county would be like without all the roads and vehicles on them. This is abundantly evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most all of our activities from going to work or taking the kids for an ice cream. We jump into our vehicle and go. However, a curious thing often happens when we get in our car, truck and SUVs. We sometimes change turning into someone different when behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive to other drivers; at times even becoming rude, crude,
