Actor and singer Aubrey Drake Graham, “Drake,” has gained worldwide popularity over the past years from Degrassi to “Hotline Bling”. The Drake fandom, “Team Drizzy”, sprouted in the early 2000s when Drake played a leading role in the TV drama Degrassi. Since then, Drake has shifted into an extremely successful rap music career. Since the late 2000s, Drake has had one of the largest music fandoms within the rap community. Drake fans are attracted to his unique sense of fashion, the way he performs live, his work ethic, and his overall success in releasing rap music. Although Team Drizzy is sometimes criticized for expressing their love and support for Drake, they are one of the more loyal fandoms and can consistently shine a positive light on …show more content…
This made many fans of rapper J. Cole, as well as fans of the rap genre in general, very upset with Team Drizzy. The issue with fandoms is that people associate one extreme fan with the entire fandom when not all fans think the same way. Another Drake fan with a different opinion replied with “Not all Drake fans like this, “Stop J Cole is great, very surprised to hear he's not got a number 1 tho” (Smooth-Maize1673). Although not all members of Team Drizzy go to such great lengths to express their support for Drake, the wild actions of a few extreme fans end up representing the fandom as a whole. The J. Cole fandom isn’t the only other fandom that Team Drizzy has clashed with. In August of 2021, some Drake fans went a little overboard reacting to drama between Drake and Kanye West. The drama was surrounding a beat that Drake really wanted, which Kanye ended up using the beat and making a troll song which was completely nonsense just to spite Drake. Their feud was mostly just a bunch of misunderstandings, but Team Drizzy decided to take matters into their own hands. Members of the Drake fandom vandalized Kanye’s childhood home and left signage with foul language on the
The older generation of hip hop and rap, the Joe Budden's and Waka Flocka's of the world find it easier just to put these new artists in boxes or to criticism them, but in Uzi Vert's case he shouldn't
He had a lot music opportunities such as him having songs on the Top 100 for eight years straight. People say Drake tends to shape genres to his liking and also overcome charts. People also say he can change the radio (Cox 57). The people that listened to his music notices that it was different from other rap songs (Isabell 14). He has a grip on the music industry (Cox 57). His first album sold half a million copies and shattered records (Cox 57). His only long acting job was when he was on the show Degrassi: The Next Generation for 7 years (Isabell
What seemed to push their relationship over the limit is when Kanye took to stage to rant about Jay Z and Beyoncé. Accusing Beyoncé of using politics with award shows, Jay not letting Blue Ivy play with North, and Jay refusing to call him after his wife was robbed at gun point. From Kanye perspective, I would be offended if everything he said was true. A person who I considered my big brother abandoning me in one of my darkest moments is something that would be tough for anyone swallow. I'm not saying Kanye was right in this situation as I could also see where Jay Z is coming
Firstly, the cover of the album itself showcases a painting of Drake in the form of a child who is looking back at his journey in life and his music career. This is also a reflection of his album which consists of recent hits including “I Have Nothing”, “Started From the Bottom”, “Pound Cake” and “Hold On”. The overall message within the album remains Drake’s struggle along with his successful transition from being a struggling artist to a successful one. Moreover, he also doesn’t shy away from taking aim at his contemporaries and those who have dismissed him in the past. He is also vocal about his success by comparing himself with NBA superstar Dwight Howard while also letting the world know about his relationship with Tatiana Ali. However, the unique aspect
Kanye’s career has gone through many ups and downs over the years. He started as someone who most labels wouldn’t make it as an artist, but he persevered and became one of the greatest if not the greatest. His early life, career, and modern-day career show how he stayed strong no matter what. Kanye’s story is that of struggle, loss, and inspiration that has impacted many young artists to launch their own careers. Kanye’s impact on hip-hop can be seen today in artists like Drake and Travis Scott who he
In my own perspective Belafonte do not have the guts picking on anybody and tell them what to do or what not to. He can say whatever he wanted about Jay Z but Jay acknowledges the facts about the music and knows how to change it to his benefit or favor. I personally support Jay Z because he is a very crucial personality in the modern society and he also serves as an inspiration, hope, role model
His song “God’s Plan” is on the billboard of top 100 songs for the eighth consecutive week. This points towards great success, but although he has millions of followers and fans, he has plenty of haters as well which he sings about in “God’s Plan.” “Bad things, It's a lot of bad things, That they wishin' and wishin' and wishin' and wishin', They wishin' on me, Bad things, It's a lot of bad things, That they wishin' and wishin' and wishin' and wishin', They wishin' on me.” Drake repeats this verse a lot of times throughout his song, emphasizing that he has a lot of people “wishin’” bad things on him and trying to bring him down. In comparison, “All Summer in a Day” conveys a similar theme in which the students in her class try and bring her down because she remembers what the sun is like with it's warm rays and bright light.
Music can rock your world, enlighten your mind and change your perspective. When you think of rap music who comes first to mind? Without hesitation, it must be the self acclaimed best rapper alive, Lil Wayne. He alone can make such statements as “My picture should be in the dictionary next to the definition of definition” (Wayne, “Shoot Me Down”). Lil Wayne is a prominent force in the rap world. His debut Album in 1999, Tha Block is Hot went double platinum upon its release and even his lowest selling album is still certified as gold according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Rollingstone Magazine declares “Lil Wayne is one of the most popular — and prolific — recording artists in the world” (Kreps). Top this with
Jonathan: It is understandable that Jay-Z has more money than drake. Drake, however, is still uprising and still has a chance to catch up, but Jay-Z, for now, remain top.
The concept of being hyped up is a huge must in the hip hop world, people love the feeling of being hype and being motivated and drake takes that and molds it into his album. Drake is known for his singing and using his vocals even though being a rapper, that aspect of drake really separates drake from other rappers to point where rappers are becoming like drake. Drake manages to make you feel emotional using lyrics and diction that are amazingly great. In the song Hotline Bling drake sings about how he left his city and his love to come back to see that she has moved on. Drake says “ever since I left the city you got a reputation for yourself now everybody knows it I feel left out.” saying that everyone knows her except drake who should know her better. Drake also makes us dance, in a tropical vibe song called one dance drake uses drums and his majestic vocals to make a song your body cannot refuse. The song took the nation by storm and really elevated the album to another level and it gained respect from his peers. Another song on views called controlla had the same vibes as one dance, but has more of a romantic feeling to it that also attracts to the youth. Most people like to music that involves being loyal and that has a good tempo to it that can be danced to, drake takes that into perspective and
I think Drake was in a position where he was finding himself. And I kind of perceive it with my ears the sound made by Drake, but in the end, as time goes, people become more mature and they get better and they become the best because of things like that."
It was him who made Drake realize that he could use the children to ease off the excess pressure that had built up on him due to his indecent internet activities. The other social factor that contributed to the behavior of Drake was the videos and movies he was watching over the internet. They were hardcore obscene material that activated his urge. The children were an easy target because of the social nature of the community where people learned to live together as a big family and not as an individual. Drake had moved to this new
Many people throughout my lifetime have impacted me in one way or another. Some have been for good and others have not been for good. When it comes to people that have impacted me it's usually normal ordinarily people, but the one person who is not just anybody else would have to be the famous Aubrey Drake Graham or better know as Drake. For the most part, Famous celebrities don’t really have an impact on me especially not rappers, but it’s the way drake is fearless about being different and not being a follower is what attracts me the most and motivates to not be scared about being different in order to reach what I want. Rap music has been by far one of the most influential types of music out there ever since the late 1980’s.
At the time, Drizzy was a flashy, archetype-subverting rookie taking over with his dynamic abilities and reshaping the game forever—kind of like a certain
