Actor and singer Aubrey Drake Graham, “Drake,” has gained worldwide popularity over the past years from Degrassi to “Hotline Bling”. The Drake fandom, “Team Drizzy”, sprouted in the early 2000s when Drake played a leading role in the TV drama Degrassi. Since then, Drake has shifted into an extremely successful rap music career. Since the late 2000s, Drake has had one of the largest music fandoms within the rap community. Drake fans are attracted to his unique sense of fashion, the way he performs live, his work ethic, and his overall success in releasing rap music. This made many fans of rapper J. Cole, as well as fans of the rap genre in general, very upset with Team Drizzy. The issue with fandoms is that people associate one extreme fan with the entire fandom when not all fans think the same way. Another Drake fan with a different opinion replied with “Not all Drake fans like this, “Stop J Cole is great, very surprised to hear he's not got a number 1 tho” (Smooth-Maize1673). Although not all members of Team Drizzy go to such great lengths to express their support for Drake, the wild actions of a few extreme fans end up representing the fandom as a whole. The J. Cole fandom isn’t the only other fandom that Team Drizzy has clashed with. In August of 2021, some Drake fans went a little overboard reacting to drama between Drake and Kanye West. The drama was surrounding a beat that Drake really wanted, which Kanye ended up using the beat and making a troll song which was completely nonsense just to spite Drake. Their feud was mostly just a bunch of misunderstandings, but Team Drizzy decided to take matters into their own hands.
