“Slaying the Dragon” by Deborah Gee is a comprehensive look at media stereotypes of Asian and Asian American women since the silent era. From the racist use of white actors to portray Asians in early Hollywood films, through the success of Anna May Wong’s sinister dragon lady, to Suzie Wong and the ‘50s geisha girls, to the Asian-American anchorwoman of today. The movie also shows how stereotypes of exoticism and docility have affected the perception of Asian-American women.

These Grandfathers presented Black Elk with gifts to help him on his journey. A wooden cup, a bow and arrows, a white wing of cleansing, an herb to heal, a sacred pipe a flowering stick and the power to make live and to destroy were the tools that were given to him. Then, the Grandfathers showed Black Elk what was to become of his people. He was shown a holy tree which once had been flowering and was now gone. The people he was supposed to lead were thin and starving, and Black Elk cried as he saw the fate of his people.
Good morning/afternoon Mrs Morrah and students. I have chosen 6 items for my showbag to represent the theme, setting or character of the novel ‘dragon keeper’. To represent the theme of friendship, I have chosen 2 magnets, this is for Danzi and Ping. Just like magnets, Danzi and Ping always reunite. Throughout the novel, Danzi and Ping have at one stage been separated and have come back together.

She retraces the mountain of her ancestry every single day quietly. In the wind she can smell the scent of her ancestors made from crushed pale blue leaves of the mountain. The smell is coming from up the mountain side from which her ancestors descended from, where the mountain lion laid down and ate their deer. It is better to be where she once came from, where her ancestors came from, up on that mountain watching nature. The elderly that remember it once are all gone, the old songs of ancestors are forgotten, and the story where it all began died with its memory. The memory of the culture dances in the snow frost moonlight, swam in the freezing mountain water, went through the
I would have to agree with you when you mention that the 15th amendment should have been granted when the 13th amendment was established . This in fact was racial discrimination that African Americans had no rights in their own country to vote . I also agree that majority of young people today does not understand their rights when it comes to voting. These are topics that have not been taught in schools and that is why so many of them are been mislead. They fail to realize that exercising their rights to vote has a great impact not only for the country but also for themselves. In my views President Obama has done his part and worked hard for the people and for America.President Obama has proved to be an ideological president, one with a developed,
As soon as she saw Momus, the God of satire, Aphrodite knew that he was the one for her. Such an exquisite man, he did not seem to know what boundaries were, and found humor in even the darkest of situations. But, when he ridiculed Zeus and was banished from Mt. Olympus, Aphrodite immediately regretted her decision to bear his child. With great feelings of angst and resentment towards Momus, once the babe was born Aphrodite abandoned her in the home of an Amazon tribe. All the baby had was her father's mask and a name- Callidora. Callidora had an extremely difficult time growing up as an Amazonian warrior. Firstly, she was extremely clumsy. She could not hold a weapon and would constantly trip over her own feet. Also, she would consistently

A few weeks later, Tizbeth sat in the lady’s room, working on her embroidery with a dozen or so ladies. She had never done. Needlework was pointless when magic would put any image on it a skilled work could dream up but it was working with her hands and she had skill at it. Sometimes she missed her forge, but the ladies where here.
She was all alone- her coat soaked to the pelt- causing it to lie flat against her, freezing her to the core. Unable to get warm or dry, and too scared to venture any further from her herd, the doe stood strong. Her energetic parade had dissipated into a mere stroll, yet the furrows in the earth were getting ever deeper. The doe’s young muscles demanded rest, although her instincts and frozen limbs kept her
