Ben Carson used a strategy called THINK BIG become successful in his lifetime. Using THINK BIG I chose Honesty because if you want to be able to work for someone you need to be trusted. Also Knowledge is an important one because you cannot perform a surgery without knowing anything, knowledge is something that Dr.Carson had a lot of. Christopher Maurice Brown was born May 5, 1989. He was born in Tappahannock, Virginia. He was known for his singing talent when he joined his church choir. Chris had a tough childhood. He witnessed his stepfather abusing his mother. The things he went through could relate to me in that same exact way. February 8, 2009 he brutally beat up his then-girlfriend. Anyway, personally think he witnessed it so much that in his relationship with Rihanna he had so much anger and he blacked out from the arguments they had in the car that he beat her the same way his stepfather did to his mother. He did feel bad. He did his five year probation time and six month community service. After then he has just been in and out of the courtroom. The website from
A man with ambition to be better, is a man that is unstoppable. Standing tall, with a book in one hand and his other hand is reaching out towards you. He wants you to come and join him in furthering your education, he wants you to not let the circumstances and odds that are against you; hold you back from gaining higher education. He wants you to do so, at the university he founded himself, he is Dr. William Hooper Councill. The statue of Dr. Councill on Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, is a direct symbolization and representation of the extraordinary individual that he was. Dr. Councill knew that with education, he could hold power and change the lives of others, and that is exactly what he spent the rest of his life doing and is continuing to do so even decades after his death.
It is my opinion that HBCU’s certainly do remain not only relevant, but also necessary. HBCU’s were originally established due African American’s pursuit of an education and the acquiring a piece of the “American Dream” was thwarted by racial segregation. HBCU’s provided our young men and women with an education and developed future leaders. The very essence of their existence bestow black people with a positive identity, a safe nurturing haven for learning where their expression of emotional, mental and spiritual being need not be altered, changed, distorted or parodied for the purpose of assimilation to another’s race, culture or socially acceptable standards.
Charles R. Lawrence III, a law professor at Georgetown University, released an article named “On Racist Speech” against the growing frequency of racial violence, especially in University campuses in the U.S., to the Chronicle of Higher Education in 1989. Lawrence begins his article by focusing on the message that hate speech “sends a destructive message to minorities that they are inferior.” The author brings up many other examples to support his message such as the court case Brown vs the Board of Education, instances of racist posters and fliers in college dormitories, and protesting against a “fighting words exemption.” Lawrence argues that although it is difficult for the government to write a law that will prevent racist speech without
U.S. vs Guatemala You might believe that the United States is the best country there is, because it is the only country you got to know. But what about all of the other countries that you don’t ever think about? One of the countries that probably never crosses your mind is Guatemala. After doing so much research on this beautiful country, I have found that there are a lot of differences between the United States and Guatemala.
Dr. Carson has excellent communication skills. He is a master at public speaking, which happens to be the number one fear of many people but it comes naturally to him. When called upon to talk and answer questions, he is the only candidate that appears to be unrehearsed when the others appear as if they are reading from a script or are very monotone and over-rehearsed. He is so well spoken that everyone understands what he is saying and they all walk away with the same thoughts rather than different interpretations. He is the only candidate that can explain government business using terms that anyone can understand. Anthony Zurcher, a US politics reporter with BBC News, says “It’s Mr. Carson’s particular gift that he can deliver lines like these in the calm voice of a physician informing his patient that the situation is dire, but that a cure is possible” (Zurcher) which clearly
Dr. Benn Carson is a retired African American neurosurgeon and a Republican candidate for president. He has been called names by the liberal black community for many of his "unpopular" stances. His views make him, they say, an Uncle Tom and a traitor to his race.
Success can mean different things to different people. The definition of success can change for a person at different stages of their life. A person's culture, family, friends, experiences, and environment can be a big influence on defining what success is to that individual. We all hear the stories of people failing and failing until one day they make it to the top, beat the bad guy or pass the trial. The story can also go that they got all they desired or raised up from the ashes. All of these have one thing in common, it is at the end of the story. It's never the beginning or middle. It's always at the end of the story that the person succeeds in their quest. But why does it have to be at the end? Simply, like how there is no good without evil. You can not have succeed without struggling and failing first.
Throughout the history of the world, philosophy has been at the forefront of the human search for knowledge, but there is no other philosophy like ancient Greek philosophy. Ancient Greek philosophy roughly began in the sixth century BCE and continued on up until ancient Greece became apart of the Roman Empire. The great Greek philosophers of the time, like Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle focused their study of philosophy in subjects like political philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, ontology, logic, biology, and rhetoric to name a few. Even today many philosophers agree that ancient Greek philosophy has influenced much of today’s Western culture. Among the broad subject of ancient Greek philosophy there were many sub-forms of Greek philosophy like the Pre-Socratic philosophy, which involves the Milesian school, and Pythagoreanism, and classical Greek philosophy, which involves Socrates’, Plato’s, and Aristotle’s teachings; and then there was sophism and the sophists. Who are the sophists and why/how are their teachings relevant with the rest of ancient Greek philosophy?
