What are you afraid of? Many people are afraid of many things such as death, heights, bugs, or public speaking; but the fear of change ranks high in the list of things that trigger anxiety (Radwan). Is there a reasonable answer why people neglect change nowadays? In fact, there is more than one answer to this question. Change has become such an important aspect of our everyday life that it is impossible to ignore. When it comes to the idea of change, most people will readily agree that some individuals try their hardest to avoid change. The reason behind this known theory is that those individuals don’t fear change; they fear being changed (Rabadam). In the end, change is something that drives them away from wanting to experience other …show more content…
In fact, the main reason to fear failure is how we imagine how others will view us when we fail. For example, if an individual keeps doing the same thing over and over, then the results will never change. As Albert Einstein stated, “a person, who never made a mistake, never tried anything new” (Brenner). Failure is not the enemy, but a life-changing experience. It is a human experience, and it prepares the way for us to grow and transform our lives. Mistakes are essential to the development of life, just as change is. Nevertheless, change is said to prepare us for life and without change, life would persistently be the same. Admittedly, childhood experiences affect your adulthood. For instance, overprotective parents and parents who spoil their children are those who indirectly teach them to be afraid to change. In the same way, over protection can cause the children to be unready for the real world. When the kids do get out into the real world, they don’t know how to handle it. The individual will be so used to what they knew when growing up that that is all they will expect. That same individual will not follow the pattern of change. A person that doesn’t follow the pattern of change will most likely fear change itself. Furthermore, another reason people fear change is because they fear the past might replicate itself (Radwan). This reason links to the fear of failure in a way. As an illustration, a woman who
I think change should be feared and resisted depending on the types of changes and why they are happening. I think this because there are good changes and there are bad changes and you can’t avoid all of them because you would end up missing out on a lot of things. You also cannot accept every change because you could end up in situations that you would not like to be in. In the story the humans are changing into martians. I think that this change should be feared and resisted because the people in the book have no idea what the effects of this change could be. An example of a good change would be an adult getting a new and better job. This would be a bad change to fear and resist because you could be missing out on a great opportunity. In
In high school I remember the teachers telling students that; 20 years from now fast food restaurants will be completely automated. 15 years later, and I don’t foresee that happening anytime soon. I realize now that they may have used that as a technique to keep us in school. They instilled fear upon us, encouraging us to be educated. I think fear is the most common reason people resist change. Fear of not being employable without at least a high school education empowered me to stay in school. Fear fits in with uncertainty; fear of the unknown
Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the
Many people are hostile to change ;however,it is necessary to modify our lives once in awhile to challenge ourselves, become more flexible, and smarter.
As a whole, mankind dislikes change because one believes that the current process is just as efficient as newer process. For example, many people believed that taxi cabs would always be a mainstay of transportation. However, companies such as Uber threaten to disrupt the
People change many times throughout their lives. Most of the time we are unable to see how much we actually change. I know five years ago I would not do a good job at predicting who I am today. I am still growing into the person I am and five years ago I would not have been able to guess who I am today. Many times we like to believe we know exactly how we will be in five or ten years down the road, however, people go through so much in their lives that every situation and thing in our life can have an impact on who we become. In ten years I would like to say I am stronger, wiser, less anxious, and have more confidence than I do today, but I am not exactly confident that prediction will be true. My interests change and there are other aspects
Like many, I am terrified of change. This is funny because, as being a part of a military family, change is inevitable. Every time we moved, there was change. Change in where I lived, and who my friends were, even circumstances changed. But no matter how many times we have moved, I have not gotten used to the change that occurs. Even though change is necessary for growth I am not alone in my fear of change. Whether it's a new war or sickness, a change in leaders, or different people in a location. Throughout history people have been afraid of change and more specifically the unknown; unknown people, and unknown situations. Although change is inevitable we are afraid of it perhaps it is because it is not change that we are afraid of but rather the unknown that we are afraid of.
Change was my greatest fear. It has been all around me throughout my entire life. I could still remember the first time I had to
Human beings are constantly changing and growing in complexly intricate ways. Our minds evolve at an alarming pace. Unfortunately, if you are anything like me: a creatures of habit, you resist change even if it is for the best.
Some people are scared of change, it frightens them. While some just refuse it, maybe they think they are fine without it. Although big changes are definitely intimidating sometimes, most of the time in the end , the odds return in your favor. Maybe you don’t like your changing body, you might even get turned into a bug. Therefore your change wouldn’t necessarily be “good,” or maybe you just think that. Most of the time when your body is done changing, it’s not half bad. Being turned into a bug is not common, but it might make you appreciate your human life more. To me, change is broadening, but people don’t want the light.
In reality some people are so terrified of change because it means adapting to new structures, duties, and responsibilities. For people having to adapt to new
As time goes on, change is inevitable and changed I have. When I was young, I hated reading, until I read my first chapter book and now I like to read. Also, I used to hate spaghetti, but now I love it. These things happen slowly, and they take some time, but when you don’t do something because you don’t like it or because your scared, try to do it because you will be happy you did. Like the first time I rode a roller coaster, I
Change is a terrifying prospect. The idea that things you know, and are used to, could shift, gradually or slowly, is frightening, and leaves most wondering what the future will hold. That uncertainty key, and something humanity seems to try and avoid. Even at our oldest roots however, adaptation and change must happen in order to survive. This doesn’t just count for physical things, or pure survival, but also for our cultural sanity, so to speak. Our piece of mind must be maintained as well; what is viewed as good or what makes one happy has to shift.
Some fears can be as simple as fearing a bug or even the water that we drink. While other types of fears can be far more complex such as fearing the unknown or the changes that surround us. The explanation to these fears will vary from one person to the other but what we can be certain of is that fear has been and will always exist within us whether we want to admit to it or not. With literally anything or anyone being able to be the source of fear there is one fear in particular that has caught my attention and that is the fear of change. Change is inevitable for it surrounds us from the moment we awaken to the moment we fall asleep. From the weather changing throughout the day, to the music being played on the radio, to the time changing on the clock, to even people changing daily. Change is
In my life, I have been exposed to a challenge called change. Change can occur in many different ways and is dealt with in many different ways. I have come to the awareness that change can be the deepest of all things. I always thought that change occurred when you moved to a state or when you lost someone real close to you. Those are a challenge to change, yes, but change doesn’t have to occur over a climactic incident. It can just appear overnight when your brain winds up when it’s time to do something different. Even with friends that you used to have and know that move on. For example, most of my friends from elementary school, I don’t even talk to them anymore.
