For eight years, former President Barack Obama strived to get a health care for those who could not afford it, and that is when Obamacare was created. Now, our new President Donald Trump is looking to reform health care. In an article written by Lee and Luhby on CNN, they stated, “Within hours of taking the oath of office, President Donald Trump on Friday night signed an executive order aimed at trying to fulfill one of his most impassioned campaign promises: Rolling back Obamacare” (1). President Trump wanted to prevent civilians to use Obamacare which is also known as the Affordable Care Act. Our new elect- President Donald Trump has many goals he desires to accomplish within his four-year term, and one of which is improving health care. Former President, Barack Obama created Obamacare for people to use as a more effective and affordable health insurance. Many Democrats are protesting for their right to keep this Affordable Care Act; however, President Donald Trump is in the process of replacing this health insurance. One huge supporter of the Affordable Care Act is Hillary Clinton; former opponent of President Trump. Hillary Clinton’s plans for health care included to defend and expand the Affordable Care Act, bring down out-of-pocket costs like copays and deductibles, reduce the cost of prescription drugs, protect consumers from unjustified prescription drug price increases from companies, and fight for health insurance for the lowest-income Americans (“Hillary on Health Care” 1). Nancy Pelosi is a strong role model in the support for Obamacare because she is a Democratic leader of the House of Representatives. Pelosi and Clinton had a huge female role in the election because they both wanted to make a difference in health care. An interesting material revealed Nancy Pelosi declaring, “Evidently, ethics are the first casualty of the new Republican Congress” (Howell & Dinan 1). Nancy Pelosi craves what every other American desire, a fair health care insurance. In this statement, Pelosi is essentially saying that the moral rights are being shown by the people of congress on the Republican side; however, she does not believe they are using their ethics to the full advantage. This supports another statement she made in an interview when she remarked, “Republicans will leave millions of Americans without health insurance -- and worsen the coverage of many more -- with no clear plan for what will follow” (Bradner & Walsh 1). Both Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi had a strong mind to make Obamacare last, and help Americans across the states to be insured with the best health care possible. To conclude, the Affordable Care Act did have a positive side to it, and the cons of clearing Obamacare can affect its main focus, and that was to have an affordable insurance for citizens to obtain with lower prices on medications and medical visits.
