Teenagers are safer inside than outside after dark because of all the dangerous people. Those people out in the dark could kidnap them and the teens could get really hurt. There are over 200,000 child abductions per year. If there wasn't any curfews then there would probably be more kidnappings. A sophomore from the Portales High School by the name of Enrique Cabrals thinks that most teens that are out past their curfews are not getting in trouble but in some …show more content…
Most teens tend to be rebellious and just do the opposite of what they are told. They just want to have fun and experience more things. They are still young and dont know whats good for themselves. Since the innocent teens don't want to be left out they would join them into whatever bad thing they are doing. Curfews start more juvenile crimes than stop it. Because of curfews, our generations of teenagers have never been more immature and childish. Curfews are good for teens because they keep teens out of trouble. Without curfews our generation of teenagers would be a bunch of rebellious, disobedient, and mutinous kids on the street. “Curfews would provide communities with a tool to help them combat juvenile crime,”(Uyttebrouck). A clinical psychologist in California named Dr. David Swanson says curfews keep kids safe and asked, “what good comes for a kid outside of their home after 11:00 p.m.?” He then answered, “there's nothing out there for
Although having a curfew for it to be illegal for teenagers to be on the streets after ten o’clock p.m. on weekdays or after midnight on weekends would be beneficial in exceptional and deficient ways, many citizens will disagree with having a curfew. The eminently important reason Dierks, Arkansas, should have a teenage curfew is for the security of the teenagers. Another reason is for the parent to have control over their child, instead of their child being undisciplined. On the other hand, having a curfew could hinder maturity.
According to what was just said people say that curfews don’t lower teen crime for towns or cities. However in the book Outsiders the crime is horrific, there is gang fights and robberies everywhere. A curfew would help the crime that has caused issues all over the town where the greasers live. “ Hey whatta ya know. He said a little unsteadily, “ Here’s the little greasers that picked up our girls.”
Curfew is when teens cannot go outside from home and cannot hang out with friends at midnight. People like curfews because they think teens may learn responsibility and can work till night. However, some people dislike curfews because it will do nothing to make the cities safer. Curfew is a good idea because it keeps safe from crime and prevents alcohol and drugs from teens. Curfew is a good idea because it keeps safe from alcohol, drugs, and crimes.
Curfew is something that most teens deal with at some point in their life. The curfew could be set by their parents, their parole officer, or even their coach if they are traveling with a sports team. These guardians set a curfew to try to keep their teens out of trouble but it will not stop teens from doing something that they shouldn't. They will just do what they want to do earlier in the day. If a 10 pm curfew was enforced, that curfew would interfere with the lives of teens that have jobs that require them to work later than the curfew allows. They would have to work shorter shifts which causes them to make less money. Some teenagers might not work so close to home and that would cause problems in their schedule too. Their shift could end at 9 pm but if they get caught in traffic at 9:30 pm, there is a chance that they will get pulled over after ten and then they have no way to prove that they are coming from
Curfews teenagers A lot of states in United States Of America are curfews teenagers from being outside of their house at night because they can make problems and bad things without even thinking about it. In the, magazine opinion piece “Should Communities Set Teen Curfews” the author, Barbara Bey argues that “curfews are a good idea”. As Barbara Bey puts it,“At 2 o’clock the following morning, the child was still downtown”(468).
Although many people think teenagers should be home by 10, but I think teenagers should have the curfew because they are young adults, they know right from wrong, they should know not to get in trouble.
Although, Some people say that a curfew is not necessarily for keeping teens out of trouble. It is for keeping the town quiet at night and gives everyone some peaceful rest at night. In the article, “Manitoba town to ban kids at night”, the mayor of Killarney, Manitoba sates,” ‘It’s not that we have a big crime problem, we just have some youngsters out to all hours of the night disturbing the peace.’ ” An easier method for this is just to have a few police working at night to ensure peace. A demanding curfew that punishes many for doing nothing is simply unnecessary. “‘Ultimately, curfew laws don't make us more safe, but they make us less free,’ says Joe Cook, executive director of the Dallas ACLU” (Rosado and Manly).
Even with a curfew teens will do what they want to do. If that means sneaking out, lying or skipping school or etc. sneaking out gives a teen a thrill and like they are invincible. That just makes them more likely to do much more dangerous stuff. Also, having a curfew just adds stress on a teen, because they will freak out about running late and traffic causing them to be late. If anyone says that kids will be too scared to sneak out, well wouldn't they be to break an actual law? Does curfew really keep teens out of trouble?
The Curfews Of The Teens Do teenagers have to feel arrested at home? some teenagers do not agree to the curfew because it restricts their freedom; however, it keeps them safe and makes them take a rest at home. Barbara Bey, author of “Should Communities Set Teen Curfews,” and the author of “Curfew: A National Debate,” take different sides to argue whether curfew is beneficial or unhelpful. In the magazine opinion piece by Barbara Bey, “Should Communities Set Teen Curfews?” Bey claims that the curfews keep children safe.
Teen curfew can be both good or bad, depending on how you look at it but there are more negative things then positive things that curfew brings.Teen curfew laws need to be changed for several reasons, they keep teens from having fun during the night, and due to sleep cycles curfew gives teens only a few hours of freedom and sleep. In Detroit teen crime dropped 6% at night due to curfew but went up 13% in the day that is just one reason why teen curfew does not work. If police were not so focused on catching teens being out late they could focus on violent and more serious crimes. Curfew takes away freedom from teens. Teen curfew laws are too strict and need to be changed. Teen curfew laws can be both good and bad but they are causing more of a problem then they are
Also, with that law, parents will probably follow the time of that law. This means that teens cannot try and negotiate a time that is fair. If a teen believes that the curfew time is not fair and wants hangout with friends or go to a party, they will most likely sneak out. The point of the curfew is to keep people safe and make sure they do not get in trouble, but if a teenager is going to sneak out anyway, what's the point. A curfew law is a good idea on paper for parents who worry about there children, but there is no true way to make sure they are safe without taking away there freedoms, and that is what a Government forced curfew would do. Not all teenagers are bad and stay out past curfew just to party and hangout with friends, sometimes teens need to stay out late. High school students have extra curricular activities they do after school. I know from personal experiences that sometimes you can get home from a sporting event after a scheduled curfew. That is one of the first things i was
Curfew is a set time which teenagers will have to schedule their activities around. Generally, this curfew doesn’t change and helps your teen to understand boundaries. It is a wonderful idea for teens to have curfews because it teaches them to be responsible and also considerate of other people around them. As teenagers, it is natural for adolescents to feel like their freedoms are being taken away and that their parents don’t know what is best. However, curfew is put in place for the direct opposite, which is keeping teenagers out of trouble. Curfew teaches teenagers time management, it could lower the crime rate in local areas, and it could give teenagers an overall better relationship with their parents. Because of these reasons, I
One other reason why curfews keep teens out of trouble is that curfews set by parents are a way of showing that the parents care about the teen. (Boekestein, 2010) suggests that teens actually want to spend time with their parents but do not know how to. A curfew is the brainchild of parents all over the world to make sure that their teen is safe and also to be able to spend quality time with them while they still can. Without the curfew, teens would spend all their time with their friends but miss out on the most important people of all, which are their parents. Although it might not seem that curfews are a way to spend time with the teen, it surely is. According to (Boekestein, 2010), a teen said what all teens were trying to say, which is they don’t care about other things in life, they love their parents and would like to spend more time with them than they normally do. A teen also said that he only talks to his parents in the car or during dinner as their hectic schedule demands the parents to be on their toes all the time.
Were you ever walking to the store for a late night snack but its past curfew, and you get stopped and then you end up getting a fine just because you wanted a snack. Many teenagers aren’t doing anything illegal but are past curfew and get wrongfully accused of doing things they were never going to do. Curfews don’t keep teens out of trouble because they violate rights, ineffective and costly, and it wastes time.
Having a teenage curfew is ineffective and useless. Many people argue that the curfews are necessary because it will keep young people out of trouble. They also say that teenagers are more likely to get in trouble late than they would during daylight. Teens are looked at as the age group that causes the most trouble, and society targets them when it comes to matter for crime, however many people believe that teens are responsible for a large percentage of crimes and that having a curfew in effect will help lower crime rates. I disagree with this because I don't think teenagers should be forced to follow a ridged time schedule because of a curfew.
