The experience that I encountered with Tim Wise’s lecture will stick with me forever. Before this lecture I didn’t have any idea about how big of a problem diversity is and how people face it everyday. The example that he gave should me real life experiences that people face and made me open up my horizons on how diversity is experienced differently for everyone.

There are many reasons why I want to attend this year's Student Diversity Leadership Conference. As I am part of the SOC at Dexter Southfield, we have many discussions on diversity, beauty standards, stereotypes, and what it means to be a student of color. I think it would be great to be part of SDLC with a bigger community and have conversations that aren't talked on the daily or not well addressed.
The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon the diverse experiences that I have had in my personal and professional life. Fortunately, I have had a large mix of diverse friends and experiences in my life. This paper will discuss those diversities as well as the plan to expand on my current knowledge.
The best communities thrive on diversity, and I believe that I possess a variety of qualities that would be a great contribution to Colorado State University. I feel that it is beneficial for a community to have a wide range of personalities that complement each other to create a sense of balance, as well as challenge others to reach new personal heights. I believe that I will provide exemplary intellectual contributions to the university, while also sharing my experiences and learning from others. The experiences I have acquired from several extracurriculars have prepared me to provide several valuable contributions to the many perspectives and life experiences at CSU.

I completed my inclusion/diversity field experience at the Isanti Intermediate School/School for all Seasons in Isanti, MN. I was able to complete my 15 hour observation in a special education classroom. The classroom consisted of one special education teacher and multiple instructional assistants. The special education teacher taught kindergarten through 5th grade students’ social skills, math, and reading. In her social skills she currently has three 1st grade students and the topic was about stranger danger. She has as three kindergarten students, two first grade students, three third grade students, six fourth grade students, and three fifth grade students who came in throughout the day for both math and reading instruction. She also has multiple students’ come in and out for additional help with homework throughout the day. Also, one student
Cultural diversity, or multiculturalism, is based on the idea that cultural identities should not be discarded or ignored, but rather maintained and valued. The foundation of this belief is that every culture and race has made a substantial contribution to American history. However, many people remain opposed to the idea of multiculturalism, or cultural diversity awareness, while others often support it and yet have no clear idea of how it should be taught. The diversity of the United States is truly astounding, as many different ethnic and racial groups have contributed to the social,
Attending Loyola University Chicago, a Jesuit institution focused on a social justice education, has been a distinctive learning experience. Integrating current examples of social justice alongside coursework has profoundly shaped my worldviews. To become better informed, I attended events such as Social Justice Dinner Dialogues, where discussing topics such as police accountability and combating mental health issues in the community, opened my eyes to the nuances of prejudice and real-world intervention. After being exposed to social justice awareness, I wanted a stronger grasp on why these issues occurred and how to study
U.S. schools and colleges vary from numerous points of view. Some are open, others are independently employed individual; some are huge urban colleges, some are two-yr. group universities, others little rustic grounds. Some offer alumna and expert political stage, others point of convergence basically on undergrad instruction. Each of our more than 3, 000 schools and colleges has its particular and dissimilar mission. This aggregate differing qualities around organizations is one of the extraordinary strength of America's higher instruction framework, and has helped make it the best in the people. Protecting that assorted qualities is key on the off chance that we plan to serve the needs of our just social order.
When America was founded, it was established on freedom and equality for all people. At first it was just religious freedom, but eventually freedom of speech, press, petition, and more. In time, America began to be known as a “melting pot” of cultures as more and more people came because they wanted this freedom; the more people who came though, the more problems America had. There were too many cultural discrepancies between people, and ultimately America, the country based on freedom and equality, faced challenges concerning diversity.
Diversity in classrooms can open student’s minds to all the world has to offer. At times diversity and understanding of culture, deviant experiences and perspectives can be difficult to fulfill, but with appropriate strategies and resources, it can lead students gaining a high level of respect for those unlike them, preferably than a judgmental and prejudiced view.
Encounters between people of different cultural backgrounds have existed forever.People have always thought bout things that were unusual in other cultures. But, those encounters were relatively slim in early days today, they are almost part of everyday life, At the same time, the interchange between cultures has jeopardized their very existence, and the emergence of a diverse culture, a fixation often referred to as globalization..
