In conclusion, Direct to Consumer Advertising or DTCA, is a controversial method of advertising used to inform consumers about drug information. Due to this controversy, there are many opinions concerning how much DTCA should be regulated. For the past few decades, opinions about regulations has changed greatly. After considering the benefits and concerns regarding DTCA, we decided to take a legislative approach to DTCA. We came to this conclusion because DTCA is regulated by the FDA. Our goal was to take the first step towards banning DTCA. As a group, we acknowledged the fact that we can’t ban DTCA all together, but it was possible to get the word out and put the initial stages of a plan into action. The Elder Justice Act was passed on March 23, 2010 as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as the first piece of federal legislation to allow funds to address elder abuse, neglect and exploitation nationwide (Federal Laws, 2015). Part I of the Elder Abuse Act is the Elder Justice Coordinating Council made up of federal government representatives charged with the responsibility of coming up with programs for the promotion of elder justice. My goal with this Direct Mailing Piece is to grow participation numbers for the golf tournament in regard to industry professionals, as well as socialize graduating seniors with those currently in the Industry. Since the majority of class is comprised of seniors, I believe it is extremely important that they get face time with the important people in the Industry. I believe the best way to get this happen is to personally invite them to participate in the golf tournament. Thus the group that I am targeting are Major Industry Representatives. For this direct mailing piece I will pick the board of directors (max of 10 people per association) of each major industry association (PCMA, ISES, NRA, HLA, etc.) to mail my piece too.

Social media marketing is the act of promoting a product or company through social media platforms, in hopes to increase brand popularity. These social media platforms can include, but are not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, which are all used a great deal every day by society. One of the main benefits of social media marketing is the word of mouth advertising, which results from the ads companies place on social media platforms. To explain, word of mouth advertising is a free form of advertising, in which an advertisement is viewed by an individual and talked about to others, which further advertises the company, or product, to someone who did not view this ad. Today, companies are more likely to reach out to the millenials with their ads through these social media platforms, due to their addictions to these sites. In an article found on Mintel, it is stated, “Millennials are more likely than the general population to use social media as a way to connect with brands.” (Marketing to Millennials, 2017). Using my personal opinion, I agree with this quote taken from this article, due to being a millennial myself. I believe that companies are gaining more business by advertising to us through our social media platforms, due to the amount of time we spend on them each day. If I see an ad pop up on one of my social media sites, I instantly become interested and click on the ad more than half of the time, which has led to me purchasing a product from that
