I am blessed to have a family that have supported me throughout my four years of undergraduate school. My strive to do well and graduate from college was very important to me. I have broken a cycle that we have had for many generations in the family; I became the first female in my entire family to graduate from college. Through my hard work, late nights and dedication I was on the honor roll, accepted in in Gamma Pi Mu and graduated with 3.2 GPA. I believe in giving back to my community. I am a certified dance instructor of 22 years and dedicate some of my talent teaching private lessons to unprivileged children. while attending Dillard I did a internship with a program called Ressurection After Exoneration. Ressurection After Exoneration
For eighteen years now my parents have influenced me to do my best in academics and extracurricular activities. Both of my parents have gone to college and both have had successful careers. My dad was a highly recognized Police Chief for Waukesha County and is now on the
Although I work hard to live, I work just as hard to prepare myself for the next phase of my life, attending the University of Oregon. During my travels, I realized the potential tremendous opportunity I could acquire if I applied myself to the best of my ability. At that instant, I was hell bent on improving my life and that of my planet through education. Staying after school every day for two hours, staying on top of massive schoolwork and taking advanced courses like Physics and AP classes has been my routine. I have sacrificed parties, video games, dances and “regular” teenage activities to reach towards my goal of being the first in my family to go to college. I am persistent and full of stamina. I will reach my goals. I will become someone who really makes a difference on our
I come from a small town and a family who hasn’t always had luxurious things but has never went without the things we must have. For that I will forever be grateful. Watching my father and mother struggle to provide for my sisters and I strongly motivated me to want to earn a higher education. I hope to have a career that I both enjoy and that allows me to provide many things for myself and future family. I know that because of my family’s financial stability this will not because easy.
When reading this prompt I immediately thought of my first day moving into the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My parents never had the chance to go to college and when they helped me move in it was a moment that I knew I would remember the rest of my life. For many it is special but, it wasn’t necessarily that I was at college it was more about how I got out of my comfort zone and made it happen. I was never really pushed by my family to pursue further education. I am the first in my family to go to college and it’s honestly a blessing to be able to have the opportunity that others don’t have. I plan on also being the first to graduate in my family from a University. I’m really hoping that I influence my fellow peers and family
Family, the people in life who will always be there no matter what the situation is. My family of six are the most important people in my life, they are the backbone that keeps me together and pushing forward. Without them as my backbone, I wouldn’t be the young man I am today, things would be a mess, there will be no guidance, or an individual to show me right from wrong. As a child listening to the mistakes my parents have made in their past. Both of them deciding to not continue to further their education and pursue their dreams. My father a construction worker who began in the trade at the age of fourteen, is a very hard worker who gives up everything to provide for us. He became a foreman at seventeen years old. My mother the most important woman in my life gave up her dream of being a nurse to raise me at a young age. She did not accomplish her dream until merely five years ago. Coming from a family with no previous college history it’s tough not being financially stable as families with a college background. My family has impacted my life greatly. They have instilled in my brain that I must go to school and achieve the goals I set for myself. I thank them for guiding me into the right path to be successful. I also have three siblings, two brothers and one
College has always been on my mind, getting far in life and doing something I always wanted it to do is my goal. I will be the first one in my family to attend college and I’m proud of it. I want to be a professional, I want to get an education so I can set a good example for my future kids. My family is happy that I’m attending college I want to do it for them but mainly for me. College is going to provide me new opportunities, going to meet new people, job opportunities, and a higher education level.
Have you ever wonder what do you want to be when you grow up? Well, not me I've never thought of that because I have no idea what do I want to be. I don't even know what's my interests are. But one thing is for sure- I want to graduate college because I want all of the things that my parents have to endure, sacrifice they made and perseverance in order us to have a good life would be all worth it. Life was tough for my parents especially my mom because she have to wake up early in the morning just to cook us food and go to work just for us to buy the things we needed that sometimes is not enough for us. Knowing that my parents are undergraduate meaning that they get to college but unable to finish it. So they can't find a stable job with a
My love for being a positive role model, incited my resolve will to have an honorable legacy. This kind of dower drives me to have faith in goals that I can control. Always trying my best when I am at home working in the family childcare center, once again gives me a successor role. I would also like to be an example of transcendence in my family. Also show that taking a year or two off of school will not always blind your decision to better your education. I personally, was unable to start my education and commit to my overall goal due to my father not lending a helping hand. I needed financial aid to pay for my education and didn’t know where to go to get set up, or who to ask for help. Without his help and tax information I was unable to
My family has influenced me to do my best in academics and participate in extracurricular activities for seventeen years now. Although neither of my parents went to a four year college, they have always pushed my older brother and I to attend college so we can pursue our dream jobs. I have learned throughout my life that it may not always be easy but
My family means everything and more to me. They are my support, backbone, and give me the motivation to put forth my best efforts in everything I do. When I decided to start a new path after my Marine Corps career, going to school was one of many options I had. With the encouragement and support of my family I made the choice to go back to college eventually pursuing my dreams of attending TCU. When I made that choice I made a commitment to them to be the best student possible. My first year in college was an experience that was different than anything I was used to but I stayed true to my commitment earning academic honors, and scholarships. Every decision I make I do so with my family in mind.
Growing up for me was rough, I grew up in Brooklyn, New York where nobody expected much from the youth. I had to be different, my only escape was school. School was the only thing that kept a smile on my face. School was my gateway to happiness. I made the choice to go to college because I wanted to learn more. I wanted to further my education so I can better myself and enlighten my community. I knew college would be expensive, but the cost did not deter me. When there is a will there is a way. The only person that helped me finance my college career was my mother. No one else tried to help me. She was the only person I had that supported me 100%. The only thing that my mother wanted me to do was promise her was that I graduate from college. School was a big thing to my mother. When it came to school she did not play. She always believed in hard work, me wanting to further my education made her proud.
Moreover, I am planning on apply to Physician assistant graduate school. Graduating from PA school will greatly help me give back to the community after completing my education. Obtaining a degree from PA school will give me knowledge and the opportunity to help people who need help but cannot afford to go to an actual physician. Volunteering to educate the community on how to prevent disease among themselves is a way to give back the community that helped me to become a physician assistant. Being a soccer player taught me how to work with other people to be successful. It also taught me how to comminute with people and act under pressure. Being the head coach of the church’s high school soccer team helped me to grow individually because it taught me how to be responsible of the younger kids and be patience with them and be able to comminute to each and every child in their own way. I am the first member from my family to attend college. Many reasons motivated me to pursue a college degree. The main reason was being able to help people in effective way not just give them money. Wanting to make a difference in the world and make it a better place for my children and the generations after me, is another reason that motivated me to pursue a college degree. Lastly we know that behind everyone there is a story and everyone has
Since a young age, my parents would always push me to study hard, often times helping me out with school work. Their eagerness for me to succeed academically reflected in sufficient school grades, and resulted in college acceptances. Also, my research skills, such as the ability to look up information on the internet was a valuable skill that I have acquired living in my community. Without such a skill, I would not have been able to retrieve information concerning colleges abroad because of my limitation of other resources. The cultural capital that I possess from living in my community helped me get into
I was blessed to grow up in a nurturing, cultivating, and open minded environment. My family is full of big personalities and even bigger hearts. They’ve supported me through the many phases of my childhood and unwaveringly will continue to support my dreams in adulthood. Over the past 17 years, I’ve grown in exquisite ways that would not have been possible without my family
So many wonderful things have happened in my life and I am thankful every day for it. My family is very supportive and are always there for me whenever I need them. They support me about my decision on what to go to college for and they are always pushing me to try harder and put myself out there. They have made the first eighteen years of my life great and I don’t know how I will ever repay them.
