At the end of last year, my father announced that we will be having a family meeting to discuss our summer vacation plans. Not this again I thought. Every year, when my father announced a family meeting regarding our vacation plans, he just explains how we're going down to North Carolina to see our family and then to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach for the past eight years. Like every year to show appreciation, I attended the family meeting. I remember how my father had this stupid excited look on his face. He then opened a huge brochure that said Atlantis Bahamas. I jumped out of my seat in shock, and danced around like an idiot. I was really excited that I would finally be going to an exotic island and that is not part …show more content…
Before I entered the hotel I closed my eyes and walked in. I was greeted to the new smells and the atmosphere of what it was like to be in the Bahamas. About a half hour later, my family and I were checked into our hotel room. Our room was a normal sized room with a balcony that viewed the park and ocean. After we were settled, we went downstairs to the beach. I took my first step into the crystal clear water and immediately jumped in. The water was so warm, that I did not have to take time to get used to it. Checked that off my list. The next day, my family and I went to a boat ride to go snuba diving. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 years or older to go scuba diving. Snuba diving was a different form of scuba diving. You had a long rod that connected to an oxygen tank. You would then put the air piece in your mouth and start to breathe. At first, I was afraid to go underwater because I was afraid of sharks. However, when I went in, I was not afraid when I saw all the cool different types of fish. Check. Finally, at dinner time, my father took us to this five star course meal in the hotel. I ate mahi mahi. Check and
Perdido Key is this little subcity inside of Pensacola Florida. It is so beautiful there. The condo my family and I were staying in was so cute. It had a cute little kitchen, and a balcony. The couch had a hide a bed, which is where Zach slept. I slept on the bottom bunk of the bunk beds, and my parents slept in the bedroom. The entire condo was ceramic tile, because it would be such a pain to vacuum up any tracked in sand. It was decorated very beachy. Lots of blues and yellow sea shell and fish decorations. The very first thing we did was go to the beach. We hadn’t even unpacked or anything. We set our stuff down in our condo and then we were off. Feeling the sand in between my toes was relaxing. It felt squishy and very hot. I was getting my foot scrubbed with every step I took. Ocean water feels soothing. Plus the salt water makes your skin supple and smooth. Also the fact that I was able to say I was literally in the Gulf of Mexico was just unbelievable. The beach smelled like salt. There were seagulls and seashells every place you looked. The next few days were spent on the beach and in restaurants. There were so many different kinds of food and different places I got to try for the very first time. One morning for breakfast we went to a Waffle House and it was just scrumptious. The waffle I ate was as big as my head, plus I added chocolate chips and whipped cream to it. We went to this local dive for lunch during the week and I tried fried alligator for the first time. Eating fried alligator is eating pieces of small fried chicken. At a different restaurant, I had fried cheesecake. The fried crust around it was so sweet with a crunch, with a smooth and creamy cheesecake on the inside. We were also able to snag and snake some Krispy Kreme donuts which was especially sweet and scrumptious. Every piece of food I
Our hotel was beautiful. It reminded me of the type of hotel I would see in a Sandals commercial. It was on the beach, our room was huge, and I swear the pool was as big as my house. That night all I did was swim and eat pizza, then I was asleep. The next day, we went to Magic Kingdom in Disney World. I was beyond excited. Before you get to Magic Kingdom, you have to go down this long road at which some point you will pass a sign saying, “Walt Disney World.” Immediately after I saw that sign my stomach felt like it filled up with a thousand butterflies. That’s when it hit me that I was actually in
It was carrying a lot of people from all over the world. I have never been so excited in my life to go to one place. The anticipation was so overwhelming and once again, I could not wait to get to the resort. After a twenty minute bus ride we got to the resort. Once I stepped off the bus I could remember seeing the beautiful palm trees and feeling the heat of the sun beating on my face. I said to my dad, finally we made it and let the fun begin. We got settled and checked into the hotel. My brother and I decided to check the rest of the resort out. The resort had a crystal clear pool with a bar in it. It was amazing and I have never seen anything like it before in my life. The resort also had ten gourmet restaurants and plenty of entertaining things for us kids to do. So, after we did this we went back to our hotel and stayed in for the night. We were beat and just wanted to get some sleep from the long day of
We went to disney and stayed at a resort in disney. Then we decided to go to Panama. We weren't planning on going to Panama till the night before we were going home. So we couldn't find a hotel to stay at. So we were driving down there and we stopped at some town to stay the night in between Panama City and Orlando. We couldn't find a hotel within 70 miles so when we finally found one to stay at for the night we didn't even care how nice it was. And it ended up being not too nice because we found some cockroaches. So the next day we made our way up to Panama City. Since we booked the hotel the night before because we weren't planning on going there we had to stay in a hotel that smelled like it had water damage and drugs. We called every hotel on the beach and they all were booked. So we went to the beach and it was hot and the ocean was crystal clear. It seemed like the Jellyfish were screaming for us to pick them up. But the worse part of this whole trip was I forgot to put sunscreen on and you're on the beach and It's hot so I was just asking to get burnt.Later that night this kid at our hotel asked my sister if I was naturally that red because I looked strange. When we stepped on the beach you the waves were crashing onto the beach, surfers hit the wave and have a salt stench on your hands. Even though this vacation was long I made some amazing memories playing at nationals
I have never been so jubilant in my life to go to one place. The anticipation was so overwhelming, and I could not take any more of it. After working all year long, sometimes sixty plus hours a week, the mind and body can become very worn down. You have to have a break or your work performance could suffer. The last part of winter or the first part of spring, is when
Approximately 33% or a third of all families in the United States will go on a family vacation this year. Family vacations when you break it down is entirely for the parents. Parents and their children are stressed during the school year, whether it's providing for the family or homework. Family vacations may be stress reducing or enhancing depending on where you go, who you’re going with, and why you’re going.
When we reached the shore I realized it wasn’t a beach. It was an ocean! The life guards could have told us! Because of this, I don’t go to beaches anymore. Besides, they are filthy anyways. Pools were the way to go for me! And that was the first, and hopefully only, vacation I want to
The only sound that filled my ears was my keyboard clicking as my fingers raced across it. I had been procrastinating from finishing this assignment all evening, but I knew I needed to get it done. The burning sunset was shining through the windows as I was finishing up. It was a peaceful silence, until I heard the soft whispers of my parents that ignited my sense of curiosity. I was concentrating hard; doing my best trying to make out the hushed words that were being spoken.
Spending quality time with family is one of my favorite childhood memories, whether it was spending time outdoors, playing ping pong, or watching a movie. My most meaningful family memory came from our vacation to Colorado back in 2004; yes, 2004. Although I don’t remember all of the events that transpired, I’m able to recall most of the memorable events that took place. It was a cool, misty morning in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and I could distinctly hear the unmistakable elk calls that echoed through the mountains. The breeze gently scraped my face as I got into the car to begin the first day of our family vacation in Colorado. I could hear the car tires gently humming on the road during this cool, foggy, Colorado morning. As I looked past the lanky pine trees, glistening drops of dew formed on the tall grass, dancing with the wind. As we moved further down the road, I could see the tip of the sun barely begin to peek over the steep, snowy mountain peaks; however, the sun was soon covered by the misty Colorado clouds. This was it: our family vacation!
It was the summer of 1977, and my father decided to pack the station wagon and drive from Fort Worth to Tampa, Florida. Besides my parents in the vehicle, my two sisters and brother also joined us for the long journey. I was young and excited and did not realize the distance my father would be driving on this trip. We made two stops on the way down and the first one was in Mississippi at a Holiday Inn. My first time spending the night the night at a hotel occurred on this vacation, and I was excited. We had adjoining rooms with my parents, and we spent the evening in the pool and watching television all night. I was never aware of my parents’ finances but I know now, we did not have a lot of money. From Mississippi, we stopped again in Tallahassee, Florida and we swam in the ocean during the afternoon and hit the hotel pool in the
A few minutes before we landed at the airport, I looked at the screen in front of me and it showed ‘33°C’. It had been a year since I last experienced that kind of heat and I couldn’t bear it last time, so I wondered how I would cope with the heat this time. As the plane began to slow and turn into terminal, I could hear people around me start to get there belongings together so that they could get off the plane first. People returned the magazines to the rack on the back of the chair in front of them and I turned off my iPod and put it back in my bag. When I took my headphones out, I felt like I was back in the real world now as I had been concentrating on listening to music for hours. It seemed like time was going slower and slower
Most people that have gone to Orlando for holidays, ended with good memories. I’m not the exception. The resorts, the parks, and the restaurant make Orlando the best place to enjoy for the whole family. My last holiday with my nephew in The Wall Disney World Resort was the best time of our life for my family and me.
“Wow” I said, amazed with how clear the water is. It was like swimming on glass or even looking through glass. Then we go to the spot I thought is was going to be freezing in the water because back at the beach is was like swimming with ice on you. But as we were getting ready to go in the water with tons of people from the resort had to put on the gear first. First we put on the life jacket, then we put on the goggle and snorkels. I also remember seeing a shark cause the guy yelled to the guy on the other boat because we have a party boat next to us. Then when we went out there and when I got in the water with my luck a shark swam right by us for myI was lucky then he did not come with me cause I would I poop my pants. I think that was the last time I went in the
“A penny saved is a penny earned.” “A job worth doing is worth doing right.” We apply both of these sayings to the working world all of the time. Why not apply them to our vacationing world as well? Like most people, I look forward to a vacation, but planning it can become overwhelming if you’re not prepared. Planning a vacation should be fun and exciting. Vacationing is not always a priority to many families due to economic distress, but as little as a few hundred dollars you can plan a weekend getaway that’s inexpensive but a lot of fun!
