A worker bee cycles through a series of jobs including serving the queen, cleaning up the hive, removing dust and pollen from fellow bees, and they eventually get to build honeycombs, store pollen for later use and patch the holes in the hive with wax once they reach an appropriate age to do so.

Everyone has a secret life that they keep hidden from the rest of the world. Lies are told on a daily basis in order to keep these lives stashed in the dark. In The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, the bees are the ones that have the most secret life of all. They each have their own specific role to play deep within the hive. It's obvious that the author had meant for some of her characters to portray the roles that these buzzing insects have to dutifully fulfill every duty. Lily and Zach are the field bees, August is a nurse bee, and the Lady of Chains is the Queen bee.

In chapter 14, Kidd writes, “A queenless colony is a pitiful and melancholy community; there may be a mournful wail or lament from within. Without intervention, the colony will die. But introduce a new queen and the most extravagant change takes place” (277). The epigraph explains that bees are solemnly attached to their queen. The queen bee is the ruler and the mother of the hive.

When it comes to Sherlock Holmes and his apprentice, people will tend to think about Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Laurie R. King wrote a book that introduced a new apprentice to Sherlock Holmes, Mary Russell. Together the two solve cases that would make them grow as person and enrich their life. The book, The Beekeeper’s Apprentice by Laurie R. King, followed the theme of the the journey of apprentice and master and how it changes them was supported and shown through the characters and setting.

The tone of the documentary is alarmist. The movie starts of trying to appeal the views affection for bees with narrator, director and writer, Markus Imhoof, telling us about his family’s history bee keeping. He goes on to present the pollination process with attractive imagery and engaging language. The movie then transitions into telling the viewers how important this beautiful process is to our society. After implanting these positive thoughts and perceptions of bees and pollination in the minds of the viewers, the documentary takes a dramatic turn and starts to show us how these wonderful creatures are dying in mass, and how we are close to losing this

Ray, when it was time for her to decide who should receive custody of her, she was still hesitant, despite knowing what her circumstances may be if she were to choose T. Ray. Even though T. Ray is Lily’s biological father, unfortunately, is not up to par to provide her with the necessities that this fourteen year-old girl needs. I strongly believe that Lily should live with the Boatwright sisters, due to many factors they can provide that makes Lily a better person.
