Definetly journaling is a great idea for students to do. Everyone has the ability through learn through observation and experience. It is up to the teacher to encourage journaling among its students to promote their critical thinking skills. Now I remember that I had teachers in High School and Cochise College that used this method for me is was useful because it allow me to improve my writing skills.
Pattern recognition helps to develop the skills necessary to develop a differential diagnosis. When seeing patients in the clinical setting, practitioners begin to recognize associated symptoms, health history details, and assessment findings that are related to specific system alterations. By acknowledging these repetitive patterned-like affiliations from clinical scenarios, we as learners can begin to transform our foundational knowledge to critical thinking, diagnostic reasoning, and differential development. According to work by Flott and Linden (2015), a positive learning environment can be supported by understanding "attributes" that support learning (p. 501). Hence, pattern recognition is an example of an attribute that will contribute to learning in the clinical setting for nurse practitioner students. Consequently, being able to mentally sort a group of symptoms, findings, and diagnostics that are related to a particular problem can help build an intellectual database of reference. As a result, these steps help students develop a diagnosis, differential, and plan of care. A reflection of pattern recognition, problem-based learning, and clinical experiences will be examined further to help substantiate the contributions to the learning experience.
A self-reflective journal is a good way to keep records and reflect upon what happened during a lesson. I plan to, at the end of each day, jot down a few comments about what worked in my lessons, what didn’t work, and how I would modify the lesson to better support my students’ development. As this information will be recorded, I can always come back to it for reference when preparing future lessons. I also plan to often read the information on this journal so I can constantly remind myself of what strategies worked and what strategies didn’t work.
An important reason why educators should enforce writing in their classes is so their students will be successful at whatever job they choose to take. Teachers should always incorporate writing in their lesson plans, no matter the subject. Writing in every class should be “a way to study, to learn, or to construct new knowledge or generate new networks of understanding,” but instead, it “has become increasingly rare” (Tyre 5). Writing is a critical part of every job there is.
The double entry journal is a tool to help you slow down while reading and pay close attention. It allows you to record your own thoughts, questions and/or connections as you read. In the left-hand column, copy a part of the text that you find interesting or intrigues you. Copy it word for word and note it correctly. You can use the example as a guide. In the right-hand column, write a reaction to the quote. You may use one of the possible reactions as a guide. You will turn this in at the completion of the unit. You need to write a full paragraph (5-8 sentences), so make sure to choose quotes that you can write a thorough and thoughtful response about.
I am writing this journal for you so that you will always know our heritage and where you ancestors came from. We may be United States citizens but our culture and homeland is elsewhere. Somewhere I am hoping you will one day visit. Here is a little bit of history about our dear homeland. The island of Puerto Rico (formerly Porto Rico) is the most easterly of the Greater Antilles group of the West Indies island chain. Located more than a thousand miles southeast of Miami, Puerto Rico is bounded on the north by the Atlantic Ocean, on the east by the Virgin Passage (which separates it from the Virgin Islands), on the south by the Caribbean Sea, and on the west by the Mona Passage (which separates it from the
The aim of this journal is to relate the experiences I have had in my first practicum, the situations I have faced there and also to talk about some problems that occurs inside the school and I have noticed, these problems are related with the students and the teacher who is in charge of me.
Based in the Medieval time period it was very well recognized that this was the time of knights in shining armor, adventure, and planned battles. In the readings “Le Morte d’Arthur” and “Sir Launcelot du Lake” written by Sir Thomas Malory, you are introduced to all of the great things of the Medieval time period. The major key concept that you are exposed to is the code of chivalry, which is a conduct code that all knights must follow. This conduct code can be summed up as the following: being brave, honest, loyal, modest, and courteous; Otherwise if not followed then the penalty would be death. As you begin to read these passages, you witness Sir Launcelot going on different journeys, and enduring different hardships proving himself to be loyal and the knight who falls all aspects of the code of chivalry to its full extent.
Harper Lee uses racism, hypercriticism, prejudice, and many different scenarios to show confliction in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. Lee uses confliction to provide knowledge to the reader, showing that as the novel progresses and more conflictions arise, not all men are created equal. There are multiple conflicts throughout Harper Lee’s novel that influenced the plot of To Kill A Mockingbird, one of which was the trial between Tom Robinson and Bob Ewell over the rape of his daughter, Mayella Ewell.
People have different opinions about facts, people and other things. They might have come from different background, but they might have same judgement on somethings. In the article, the author used Bill O’Reilly and bell hooks (She does not her name to be the focus. Instead she wants her work to be noticed.) Bill O’Reilly is a host of Fox News Channel and The O’Reilly Factor. On the other hand bell hooks is known for being a feminist and social activist. Both of them have different point of view on somethings, but they definitely have similar perspective towards Beyoncé. O’Reilly has stated that a lot of teenagers, especially Black teenagers, make Beyoncé their idol. They want to do what she is showing and reviling about
The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think
Since this is my last journal, I want to talk about what I feel about this semester. This semester I feel more pressured than last semester even though I was had a hard time with my art history class. Also, I had a lot of art class last semester such as ceramics, sculpture and printmaking which were very fun. Despite of the tons of time I spend on my art work, I feel this semester is harder for me. One of the reasons is because my aunt has gone and also it is my first time living alone without any family members around me. Also, I have to be independent by figuring out how to pay electricity bills and how to spend my money efficiently. However, I have been here almost one year so, I think I am a little home sick now.
I have never been one to use a journal, nor have I ever been one to write down notes. The whole process of integrating journals into our class seemed a little off putting to me at first, however, after using it to annotate class discussions, articles, thoughts, and opinions, I quickly learned how helpful it was to me. The importance of taking notes was much greater than I ever imagined. Journaling has been a very helpful tool that has helped me grow in my learning experience, and I plan to use it more often.
It is vital to have a professional reflective journal that helps record thoughts and insights about their personal learning experience and reflect on how you are developing yourself as a professional and specify the problems and concern you may have. It gives confidence to students to review and consolidate learning, to evaluate performance, to plan future learning based on past learning experience. In that way, students become proficient to make charges of their own learning, and develop themselves independent ultimate learners.
No matter where a child grows up, their environment provides the opportunity of exposure to unique experiences in nature. Maintaining a journal of the experiences they encounter introduces children to a variety of skills they can utilize in the future. Starting at a young age, children can develop their artistic abilities, writing skills, critical thinking, research, and even begin to develop a scientific understanding of the world.
“Leave nothing but footprints, Take nothing but pictures, Kill nothing but time is a quote that shows me how to enjoy life at its fullest. This quote reminds me of when I was doing the observation for this project and I left footprints, took pictures and killed time. Quotes show emotion into the words and this one made me think how I never get to enjoy the wildlife because I am always busy. I would like to enjoy the time with the wilderness and this quote shows how to kill time and give memories. This quote is something that can happen and I am going to make it happen more often.
