Diversity
When thinking of diversity one is either thinking of division or unity. There are many views upon the subject that says otherwise. Throughout society today diversity is happening everywhere, which leads to a mixture of everything going on. In which you never know what to expect. Our society is going through a crises of either the bad or good of diversity. Through the years there have been an sort of diversity with religion, gender, and race. In a weird way all three of those subjects are very much connected. Because of diversity different religions, genders, and race had made it their duty to cast others out. When they don't even have the power to do so. Just because someone is different doesn't mean they don't have the

While men are taken with respect. Women are just taken as a joke. Which is not fair for them in many ways. Why should someone be looked under because of their gender. Women should be treated equally to men. Its sad that people think women can't do the jobs of the men. Because that's not true. Women's can do anything they put their minds to. It's just whether or not they actually want to do the job. To this day many women are standing up for what they believe in. They believe that they should be able to do whatever they put their minds to. They will mix up history a little bit by showing that they're not afraid. That they will do everything in here power to get the rights they …show more content…
Having multiple races can be hard but that's what makes us, us. Those who have multiple race couldn't really do anything they were born into it. It may be challenging because one would have to go through a lot when trying to apply for a job, school, driver license and ect. At the end of the day one shouldn't have to choose between which race to put on a application. Shouldn’t all races matter? All race should be treated with fairness. Yes we might have different color skin tone, but that really doesn't change much. There's possibility at least a handful of people out there who's racist. Those a who don't care for African Americans and look at them as though they are a disease. “Today, the definition of American seems up for grabs. After all, we have twice elected a black man to the most powerful position in our society.” (Joseph). This shows that some people don't like the idea of having an African American President. They either talked about him behind his back or maybe even on social media. “....,white men to refer to black as an n---r…….”(What). This shows that African Americans are still known as n---r’s. Whites looks down upon African as though they are garbage. When will it finally end? Why should someone call someone else their skin color or what they use to call it in the old days . What's the point of calling someone by a name they obviously don't
Diversity can be differences in race, heritage, customs, belief systems, physical appearance, mental capabilities; etc Diversity should be respected and valued because nobody is completely the same as anyone else, even within the categories above. People tend to reject what is different. We must value our diversity in order to work together.
have formed about rich people will be hard to disown, I think that they should
The concept of diversity is one that individuals may not think of when they think of nursing. Diversity is a major component to nursing and the care that is provided to patients. In this concept analysis, antecedent, attributes and consequences of diversity are identified. The following antecedents are: race, social economy, knowledge, gender, and education level. The attributes of diversity are individual, variety, perception, difference and civilization. The consequences of diversity are as follows; acceptance, decision making, cultural competency qualifications, respect, degrading, trusts
Our country is a good example of what diversity means. Globalization has increased rapidly, making our society a more diverse place. Where individuals from foreign places with different cultures, race, and languages all unite to become one. As one of my favorite novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald, once said, “The rich are different from you and me.” (Walter Benn Michaels 725) The problem here is that Fitzgerald failed to realize that the “rich” were the same as everyone else, except with more money. A diverse society represents a country with various people of color, socioeconomics, national origin, etc. Although we are all different yet, the same, and come from different places, race, color, gender, and socioeconomics, nobody is looked down upon nor superior to the other.
This is a male dominant world where a woman has always been less respected by others. Women have always been controlled by men. They couldn't work
I was very excited when I saw this essay prompt because diversity is actually one of the main criteria that drew me into NC State. All throughout my schooling life, for as long as I can remember, I never attended any schools that were diverse. There was always one extremely predominant race or gender, and it’s something that truly disturbed me. I am excited to attend a college that is so diverse in many aspects, that I will be able to benefit from in multiple different ways. I will be able to learn and understand new perspectives which will help me gain an open mind and heart to be able to accept different kinds of people. I will be able to familiarize myself with different backgrounds and cultures, because I am so accustomed to my own, I
“It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.” ― Maya Angelou.
Diversity has many definitions but only one true meaning. This concept Analysis is dedicated to exploring the broadened sense of diversity through active concepts with respect to term usage, and current literature research to support the understanding and relevance of the term itself.
Jopwell is a recruiting firm which connects the minority job candidates with the Tech companies in Silicon Valley. The main issue faced by the Tech companies is that the referral candidates are not serving the purpose and they can’t find talented minority candidates suitable to their companies. The companies are aware of the benefits like increased financial returns by having diversity in their workforce. Jopwell is currently serving 45 companies by providing them a pool of thousands of talented minority candidates and has been successful in placing a significant number of candidates in these companies. The company is focussing on diversifying the whole organization by filling the non-technical roles as well like finance, marketing,
The United States is one of the most diverse nations on the earth, originally conceived so, and often described as a great melting pot, as “all nations are melted into a new race of man, whose labours and posterity will one day cause great changes in the world” (St. John de Crèvecoeur, 1782). Yet, despite the country’s diverse population, the workplace remains a place of inequality as women and minorities continue to earn less than their white male counterparts (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2011; U.S. Census Bureau, 2009) and advance less in managerial and professional positions (Kinicki & Kreitner, 2008). The question of workplace diversity is a polarizing debate with proponents of diversity measures arguing the business benefit of
Differences in each individual is what makes each of us unique in some way. Throughout my life I have seen and met different types of individuals from different walks of life. Their paths may have differed from mine, but that never changed my perspective of respect towards others. Diversity influences us to join as one, although we may not have the same views. Although some opinions may differ, diversity has signifies a variety of different races, cultures, religion, beliefs etc to exist. It has simply impacted my life in several ways and I’m sure the world as well. Even Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. himself helped fight for the rights of diversity in his time on earth. If our country engaged in diversity knowledge and equal respect towards the difference in others, the world would be a much safer place.
When the Three-Fifth Compromise was ratified and the Constitution written, diversity was rarely an issue and played little to no importance in the Constitution. However, race has been one of, if not the central of politics predominately in the southern states during the mid-1900s. It has played a majour role in defining politics and issuing many public policies such as social welfare and Medicaid. During the mid-1900s, several civil rights court cases and movements such as Brown v. Board of Education, Hernandez v. Texas (1954), Chicano and the Civil Rights Movement in which minorities were trying to bring equal rights upon the minorities took place. Other policies include the on-still healthcare debate dealing with Obamacare and providing
When America was founded, it was established on freedom and equality for all people. At first it was just religious freedom, but eventually freedom of speech, press, petition, and more. In time, America began to be known as a “melting pot” of cultures as more and more people came because they wanted this freedom; the more people who came though, the more problems America had. There were too many cultural discrepancies between people, and ultimately America, the country based on freedom and equality, faced challenges concerning diversity.
Shannon L. Alder once expressed, “One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.” In my opinion, this quote represents diversity, which means to be unique and special. Whenever I mention about diversity, the representative place that always appears in my mind is my class. Since my school is an international school, students are mostly from different countries with their own cultural background and moreover, an original personality as well. Let me introduce the most meaningful diversity spot for me.
What does Diversity and Multiculturalism mean to me? I believe that diversity has become so much more than just the basic qualities of race or gender. It now includes all qualities that make everyone unique, as individuals or as part of a larger group. It is also the acceptance, respect, and understanding of these unique qualities that makes diversity work in a given society. Multiculturalism is the system that is centered around the respect for and the promotion of ethnic and or gender diversity in the society. Multiculturalism is the status of several different ethnic, racial, religious or cultural groups co-existing in the same society. Today, in the U.S. we already
