How can someone find true happiness and be content with himself? It starts with knowing what happiness is and surrounding yourself with the three things that create it: family, friends, and memories. Happiness is not having good fortune, it’s being in a true state of joy and contentment that comes from your family, friends, and memories.
Family are the people you come home to with smiles on their faces after a long and tough day. When you have messed up big time and made mistakes, family is the ones who have your back. I feel that happiness is something that is unique to each person. What fills me with inner joy might not for others and vice versa. Happiness is subjective, but one thing I think everyone will find is that a part of their happiness is found in growing as a person. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone and maybe happiness is found there too! For me, happiness is best achieved when I am growing as a person. Working through obstacles that have come up in my path, expanding my horizons through meeting new people, or learning something new in a class. I have come to see that when I push myself out of my comfort zone (physically or emotionally), this is where I find happiness.
According to the Dictionary, “happiness is the mental or emotional state of well being which can be defined by others. A pleasurable or satisfying experience.”. Of course that’s true, the feeling of happiness is what it’s scientifically defined as, but happiness is much more than that. They work for hours to get large amounts of money, but they never find the happiness their looking for. My own personal definition of the word is when you find someone of something that gives your own life a purpose. Obviously that’s not the only reason why people feel happy. Another big thing is that happiness isn’t something you have to pursue, it needs to be something you want to pursue.
Everyone has a different definition of happiness. One person’s definition may be completely different from another person’s definition but that is completely okay. One definition of happiness is, the quality or state of being happy. Happiness is not a strange term to us. We usually use that word to express our feelings in every day. Additionally, more than a word, “happiness” is what we really need and always seek in life. However, finding and understanding deeply its meaning is not easy. The online dictionary, “vocabulary.com” defines, “Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. Happiness is what you make it. You are the only one that can control your happiness. My personal definition of what happiness is not is, putting others in control of your happiness by letting them make you feel that they make you happy because your kids are not going to make you happy, your spouse isn’t going to make you happy, a big house is not going to make you happy, own your own happiness and be responsible for doing those things that bring joy into your own heart, Independently of life, money and all of the materialistic things that don’t necessarily give you happiness. You have to take responsibility of that peace and that joy that lives inside of your heart not inside of your stuff. There’s so many ways you can control your happiness
