Introduction Chapter 11 of the Speech textbook is about organizing your speech materials and how to understand them. First, I will pick the informative speech topic from my first speech, importance of defensive driving, and I will list provide an example of the topic. The description of this topic is a class to be a safe driver and more alert, and also this class is used to take moving violations off of someone’s driving record. Then I will pick two organizing patterns and for each one I will, describe a thesis statement based on that pattern, demonstrate how I organize the body paragraph with three main points, offer insight into how I might deliver the speech based on the pattern I choice. Time Pattern The first organization pattern that I will be selecting is time pattern. Time pattern is when you organize your topic on the basis of a time, or chronological order, for two or three major parts. This is important because an individual need to knows the effects of taking a defensive driving course, like no point added to their driving record and the ticket stays off the driving record. One cause and effect is if someone takes defensive driving for a moving violation then the effect of that is not having the ticket on their driving record. The second cause and effect is if someone did not take the class then the effect of that is the ticketing staying on the individual’s driving record. Lastly, the third cause and effect is if someone did not take the class for a moving violation then there will be points added to that person’s driving record. This pattern can be useful because the person will know what is the effect of the decision they take, but it could also not be useful because if they want it to be off their driving record then they need to remember which one they did to
