The Defeat of Sihon
The Hebrews sent a message to Sihon the Amorite king, If they could respectfully pass through his land. Sihon refused and pushed them back into the wilderness eventually engaging in battle. The Hebrews won the battle and took over all of the Amorite land including Jazer. They settled in the towns.
The defeat of Og
The Hebrews travelled along the road to Bashan. The king, Og, advanced and started a battle. God reassured Moses not to fear, that He would deliver them to him. He told him to battle the same as they did to Sihon. They took the city and all its inhabitants, there were no survivors.
9. Mount Nebo (Deuteronomy 34:01-12)
The Death of Moses
Moses went up to Mount Nebo where God showed him all the promised land.
The Hebrews came from the lineage of Abraham. Abraham was a man of a monotheistic God. He was promised a nation by his God. The Hebrews were traders and herders that communicated in Hebrew. They originated in East Asia, but moved to Canaan their promised land. Canaan is modern era Lebron, Israel, and Jordan. They lived there for a hundred years. After a hundred years they experienced a drought that caused a famine so they moved to Egypt for refuge. The Hebrews suffered in Egypt because many of their people were in enslaved and forced into hard labor. They were led into freedom with the help of Moses and Joshua. So they returned to Canaan. The Hebrews fought to take back their land, but they we successful. 2

Which sets the stage for Israel victories and blessings. Also shows the downhill battle of Israel with abandoning their covenant. Israel was to
Israel's repeated disobedience to God had sent them down the same path of destruction and sin yet again. However, through God's sovereignty and mercy, He remained faithful to Israel and sent Samson to lead them away from the influence of the Philistines. Unfortunately, Samson had his own issues of immorality, sin and eventually abused the power and strength God had bestowed upon him for personal satisfaction and gain. This ineffective and destructive leadership would be Samson's demise as his lack of obedience to God left him weak in strength and spirit. Samson would ultimately return to God for the final victory before his death, and trusted in God's grace to deliver.
Sargon conquered Samaria and took the inhabitants into exile, about a decade later they also conquered Judah, known as, “The Southern Kingdom” eight years later. The Assyrian king at this time was Sennacherib and recorded all his sieges across Judah. He states this in Sennacherib’s Annals, “As to Hezekiah, the Jew, he did not submit to my yoke, I laid siege to 46 of his strong cities, walled forts and to the countless small villages in their vicinity, and conquered (them) . . . Himself [Hezekiah] I made a prisoner in Jerusalem, his royal residence, like a bird in a cage.”. The Bible even openly admits this in 2 Kings 18:13. Proving the Bible’s accuracy. Which is amazing since mostly the winners write history,(and don’t say that’s cliche since the whole history of the original 13 colonies was just manipulated by the colonist) but the bible just admits they lost. On the other Sennacherib does not have any records that he conquered Jerusalem, rather because of the 185,000 soldiers that were killed in one night, and it is not unusual for Kings to not record their
When Joshua came to have a fight with the Amorites, he came at night and surprised them. Joshua was helped by the darkness, caused by a huge storm that formed hailstones so big that it killed a lot of people. The Bible says that more people died from the hailstones than those of Israel killed with the sword!
In other words, God promised them the victory. Joshua acts in faith and he and the Israelites execute a sneak attack on the Amorites. The Lord steps in and confuses the Amorites and sends them running. This allowed the Israelites to kill many of them with minimal effort. Those that escaped the confusion ran right into a trap where they were killed by hailstones. Can we just pause right here to appreciate how strategic God really is? He has sent a spirit of confusion upon Israel’s enemies. Not only that, but in the midst of their confusion he steers them to a central location where he drops hailstones on them killing more of them than the Israelites have already slain. To add to the complexity of the situation, God kills the Amorites with hailstones while completely avoiding the Israelites who were in a heated battle them. Apparently, there was still some Amorites that escaped even the hailstones so the battle raged on. As with any battle that has been going
The day of the battle arrived and all the people did what Joshua commanded them to do. The priests walked with the ark of God's
Over the years there has been many people asking Christians and Christians asking one another if it is a wrong to judge others. With celebrities saying, "Only God can judge me", it has become a trend to avoid being judged for misbehaviors. I strongly stand that it isn't wrong to judge, but wrong when someone is judging hypocritically. In Lewis B. Smedes article "Who Are We to Judge", he explains why judging is needed and why it is permissible starting off with a question, "Did Jesus forbid us from judging others?"
It 's a tale almost as old as time itself. This story begins, from what most scholars conclude, around 2018 BC, when a man named Abraham a.k.a. Avraham to the Jewish people or Ibrahim to the Muslim people reached the ripe age of 90 years old and began to have children (Behind the Name). His first son Ishmael was born to him through his young Egyptian wife Hagar. His second son Isaac was born through his 90-year-old wife Sarah. Two wives, two sons, one land as an inheritance, and the rest is history (Palizzi). Thousands of years later and the battle still rages in the small area of land next to the Mediterranean Sea where to this day still stand the dome of the rock Muslim mosque and the Wailing Wall which is the only remains left of the
This chapter starts by briefly mentioning the judge Tola. Tola arose after Abimelech’s death (v. 1). Tola judged Israel for twenty-three years prior to his death (v. 2). Jair was the succeeding judge, and he judged Israel for twenty-two years (v. 3). He apparently had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, and they owned thirty cities named Havoth-Jair in the land of Gilead (v. 4). Jair died, and Israel again relapsed back into idolatry (v. 5-6). God sold them into the hands of the Philistines and the Ammonites for eighteen years for their apostasy (v. 7-9).
Denial, the disbelief that a loss has actually occurred. Denial of the loss of a loved one, a job, a way of life, a home, or of faith, they are all tragic. No one wants to experience loss, it is not pleasant, nevertheless it will happen to everyone. This section is difficult to describe because, I am still experiencing most of these feelings. In my recently abandoned relationship, while attempting to rescue it, I would deny that it was failing, although with only one person out of the two trying how could it succeed?
Every individual of the society has to work within the bare bones of the legal system. The one who violates the provision of law or infringe the right of an individual shall be punished. In trail false evidence, fabricated evidence, forged evidence or tainted evidence is information created or obtained illegally, to sway the verdict in a court case. During her time, the king of Hazor was very powerful and he oppressed the tribes of Northern Israel. Joshua in his ability destroyed Hazor but the Canaanites rebuilt the city and they became powerful. Also, the military leader during her time was Sisera among the people of Hazor and he was feared by the Israelites. Ironically, Israel was not as formidable as the people of Hazor but Deborah decided to encourage Israelites to go to war. As a result of her position, Israelites agreed and gathered 10,000 men to confront Canaanites. In Judges 5:4, God gave Israel the needed support to defeat their enemies, Hazor was destroyed and bible records that Northern Israel had peace for forty years (Poorman & Richards, 2003).
Now Israel went out to war against the Philistines, and Israel was defeated and 4,000 Israelite soldiers were smitten by the Philistines in the battlefield. The children of Israel thought they should bring the ark of the covenant to the battlefield, so they can defeat their enemies. However, when they brought the Ark of the Lord that the Philistines slaughtered 30,000 more Israelites soldiers and took the Ark of the Lord from them (1 Samuel 4:1-10). The Philistine brought the ark of God to Ebenezer to the city of Ashdod, into the house of Dagon and set it beside Dagon their idol. God destroyed their idol and the Lord caused very deadly destruction among the people of Ashdod including the people living in its territory, by causing them to have a painful tumors or
