The overall painting combined with the foundational component of Jefferson’s sketch communicates a revered moment, within a room of dominance over Britain, in witness of only the most powerful and important people of America . An overall depicted mood can be derived as reverencing, as shown by the men’s prominent stances, high profile facial expressions, and the importance of the newly proposed document itself. The two declarations are not absolutely synchronized, by slight deviation from the original semantics, Stanton delivers a cry that may sound familiar, but it sinks into our hearts as a fresh endeavor. Jefferson opens with the call for dissolution of political loyalty to the monarchy due to the lack of common interest and the unfair treatment of the colonies. On September 11th, 2001, a terrible event in history took place. With thousands dead and many more injured, the shocked and horrified US citizens looked for someone or something to blame. All Muslims ended up taking the blame for the actions of a small, radical, Islamic group called ISIS. Written documentation has the power and ability to alter society as a whole. It can change the way man thinks, acts, and analyzes. The power of words can strike and lead to the power of the people. The power of the people can develop the culture, improve a society, and create rhythm and harmony in a country. In 1776, the power of words, diction, and syntax had the ability to transform a country. “The United States of America is at its worst,” is a common phrase used among fellow citizens. When we read The Declaration of Independence, we see many different grievances proposed by Thomas Jefferson to the King of England, a list of the awful things he did to his country.

Forty-Niners. A popular term that was emphasized during the time of the California Gold Rush which referred to immigrants who were traveling to the west. The immigrants were considered “forty-niners” because they began to arrive in the year of 1849. In his book Daily Life during the California Gold Rush Thomas Maxwell-Long notes that, “California is nicknamed “The Golden State;” and the official state motto is “Eureka” meaning “I have found it” in Greek- a reference to mining success” (Maxwell-Long 1). The California Gold Rush is the most well-known and largest mass migration that occurred in the history of America during the middle of the 18th century. The people who migrated to California went in having strict thoughts that the new American dream was to get rich and be fortunate from the gold they were in search of, however, that generally was not the case. In addition, the Gold Rush created a huge economic impact in the state of California which, ultimately, resulted in a range of environmentally destructive practices.
